Another road game, another screwing by the refs...
Kings = 15 fta, Hawks = 28fta. Nothing like fairness. Seriously, fReke & K-Mart played well, Omri filled it up late and Brockness and JT played ok (need more boards). The rest kinda sucked.

They beat us to the loose balls
and we had that terrible stretch to close the third. They were more physical than us acorss the roster. The game in a nutshell.

2 Things
We learned Brock has a lot more trouble with quickness than size (joke here).
And 2, the team that loses focus for 3-4 minutes beats the team that loses it for 6-8.
I agree with Westphall our backcourt is working well,
its our inside game thats been killing us.
It will be interesting these next couple of weeks to see if Petrie pulls the plug or waits for the draft.

well im sure that Armstrong is going to be shipped in a package deal

I'm guessing the only reason that Petrie pulls the plug
is if he finds a trade that he feels will bring more value now then he will find in the draft or in the off season trade extravaganza. I’m pretty certain he won’t make a trade just to make a trade. There are enough things for the team to work on during the rest of the season, including our inside game that are more important than making a less then optimal trade.
If by pulling the plug you mean trading miscellaneous pieces to bring in an expiring or two to give the team more flexibility in preparation for the trading season, yeah, I can see that.

Our inside presence is not present
Period. That is the problem. Evans and Martin are clearly re best thing we have going.
I’m hoping GP can package our expirings with something to get us something. How’s that for specifics.
Wait....Why is everybody clapping? Everyone around me is clapping.... I guess I should be clapping too... GO LAKERS!!! I hate living in So Cal
Really, I was hoping he'd package some players that won't be in our future for some players that will be in our future.

Trade
We need help bigtime inside. Not that that’s new news, but please sooooon!!! We have to creAte everything off the dribble. When things aren’t going good on offense it would be so nice to have someone to dump it down too. Trade for DWest, boozer, bosh, someone with an inside game!

Kmart and jt for

Well at least we have a shot to land John Wall
him and Reke in the backcourt would be sick. We could trade KMart for a big.

Quiz time
When was the last time a team won a championship with your starting backcourt both getting 20+, or even 17+. You have to have a dominant big man
by elSAVinator on Jan 20, 2010 8:07 PM PST via mobile up reply actions
You do need talent at every position
But most importantly you need a talented big man. We have a dominant perimiter player in tyreke. Plenty of up and coming talented wings that can shoot. Our biggest trade assets are kmart and K9’s contract for a big man. I’m sure we can find other SG’s that can shoot
by elSAVinator on Jan 20, 2010 8:16 PM PST via mobile up reply actions
I agree
that you need a good big man, but if john wall is there you don’t NOT pick him because your starting backcourt would be getting 20+
by lemmetakeutodamovies on Jan 20, 2010 8:27 PM PST up reply actions
I'd pick him
And trade him to get a legit bigman. Then again Detroit drafted what they needed instead of the best player available and they got Darko. Go geoff Petrie!!

I'm there with you
I don’t think we’ll be drafting that high though, unless we get lucky. I’d probably look at Ed Davis, Udoh, Alabi, or Sanders. Davis may also be too high for the Kings. I do think we have a chance of finding a good big guy in the next draft
The future begins now...
Of the big men in this draft
Favors has been my favorite for a long time, and Patterson had been my 2nd choice, but after section put me onto Udoh, I’ve really liked his game. He’s a bit older, but vey skilled and is an amazing rebounder and shotblocker.

but don’t think they will be available.

I'm with you
Favors is my first pick at a big guy. I haven;t seen much of Patterson so I don’t have an educated opinion on the guy’s game. Everythng I’ve heard is about character issues and that he’s mostly potential so I don’t know. Again, I haven;t seen him so I’m not sure.
Udoh is a guy that has really impressd me as well. I knew nothing about hi until section mentioned him and I went to look him up and was very surprised. For the range the Kings will probably pick, I’m hoping for a fall of Ed Davis (not likely) or going with one out of Udoh, Sanders, or Alabi.
Still ways to go though and maybe a couple other guys may step up.
The future begins now...
Alabi is legit 7 feet and changes every shot.

Just finish watching the recording
Not a bad game against a very good team. Interior D and rebounding is still a problem, but we knew that already. I saw much mproved ball movement and it looks to me that slowly but surely Reke, Kevin, and the others are starting to understand each other.
Looks like Kevin is still a bit rusty, which is to be expected (by anyone who actually understands athletics) but he’s showing a bit better defense and even some rebounding. He still has long ways to go of course.
I thought that it was an expected loss but there were some encouraging things. It’s going to take time for this team to mesh, but I think once they do, we’ll have something good. They need some home cooking soon.
The future begins now...
By the way
Quick line for our backcourt:
Reke: 24 pts, 0 boards, 5 assists, 2 steals
Speed: 23 pts, 4 boards, 5 assists, 2 steals
Not too bad.
The future begins now...
They've had good stats 4 games in a row

No big man
That’s why we trade Martin, if and only if, we can get someone like Bosh. Which there isn’t to many. Could Toronto really turn down JT and Kmart for bosh though. I wouldn’t think they would get to many better then that. I’d even take Amare
by elSAVinator on Jan 20, 2010 8:31 PM PST via mobile up reply actions
So if its because of the big man
Why would you try to imply that the 0-4 record is because of Tyreke and Martin having good games? Because, that’s what you were getting at by pointing at the record after my comment, right? Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
And on those trades, I think you won’t find many here that would oppose Kevin and JT for Bosh. Of course, it’d be tough to do it before the deadline because of the fear of losing Bosh.
Amare? I thought you meant that we need a big man who plays defense because Amare doesn;t play much. He doesn’t rebound the ball too good either.
The future begins now...
Ur right
I wasn’t trying to say that it’s kmart and tyrekes fault. I was just saying that having a dynamic scoring backcourt does not equall wins. I think that kmart is obviously our best trade chip to get that big man. Amare can D up low post players though, or phoneix would not have gotten as deep into the playoffs as they have because the west is full of scoring big man that you have to be able to defend.
by elSAVinator on Jan 20, 2010 8:46 PM PST via mobile up reply actions
Thanks for the clarification
and I agree Kevin could be a great trade chip, if he was available. We don’t really know if he is or not. The ideal situation would be one in which we acquire a good big man without having to part with Kevin. I think we have some chips to do something like it through trade, or we could just wait until the draft that looks to be full of young bigs who would fit the type of PF/C we need.
I think adding a good complementary PF/C to a core of Reke, Speed, Donte, Omri, JT, and Hawes would be the best case scenario.
Also, I think we disagree on Amare. The reason they got so deep in the playoffs, in my opinion, is because of their system and having the best guy to run it, Steve Nash. They couldn’t get it done, again IMO, because of the inability to stop those same big guys you mention and get stops when they could. While not blaming Amare for that, I don’t think he is the type of big this team needs
The future begins now...
Actually
That was Kevin’s first really decent game since he came back.

Kevin hasn't been shooting very well this year
I attribute to just getting into the flow of the game again, but one thing he has been doing quite well this year is doing the other things and not being so one dimensional. We’ll see if this continues over the course of the season (Newsflash: Martin will most likely not be traded this season).

The funny thing is,
he’s behind only Udrih and Casspi in true shooting percentage.

When is the last time we have had a big that grabs a rebound and finishes strong with a dunk??? Smith, horford and williams all did it against us.
Maybe we can get lucky and get a Favors! He is long and athletic.
by want2win on Jan 20, 2010 8:55 PM PST via mobile reply actions
Spencer did it in the Charlotte game.

What's the common denominator of those guys?
Horford #3 overall
Williams #5 overall I think?
Smith drafted lower, but as a total project that’s taken what 5 years to get where he is?
Super athletic big guys are available in the 10-12 range generally unless you’re willing to wait a while for them to develop.
Free Omri...trade.Noc.
Drafting a Big that can contribute immediately is almost impoosible.
Bigs take an avg of 3-4 years to develop. The size differential initially is usually to great of a hurdle. More likely to find a FA big.
There is a difference between dominate and contribute.
JT contributed his 1st season. But, if your looking for someone to dominate the boards, you’re probably not getting one in the draft or from FA. Besides we won the rebound battle in 6 of the last 10 games, and only one 1 games.

Jamison is a great offensive player, rebounds well, but defensively
doesn’t add much. I am of the opinion that if the Wizards trade away the heart of their team they will offer little to their floundering fan base.

I don't know
how anyone who has seen him play could make this comment. This is like someone who has watched every Kings game say they don’t want Tyreke on their team. I think you know the game of basketball, so I can only conclude you haven’t seen him play but on highlight clips. Bosh leads the NBA in 20/10 games (or second to Howard), has committed about half as many fouls as JT while being the superior post defender and being consistently doubled. The Raptors have been criticized for not getting Bosh the ball enough, and he still fills up box score. And his team is starting to gel. Bosh is the perfect player for this team. My dream sign and trade is JT/Donte/2010 #1 pick this off-season. We would immediately become 50-55 win team.
I do not want Bosh.
Period. End of story.

How can you not want bosh
He is one of the top 3 or 4 bigs in the world. If you have any chance to get him you should act on it. We took a risk on Cwebb that made our franchis good for a decade. When he 1st got traded no one thought he would stay either. Also we can offer him the most amount of money, if he is on our roster at the end of the yr. If he does leave there’s plenty of other options and it would five us another $15mil to play with.

What this team needs most IMO is Post Defense
I don’t really see Bosh providing that. But that’s my opinion and mine a lone.

It’s called a sign and trade. Basically we give him max money for next 6 years, he helps us get championships..That’s what he is really gonna be looking for..We have the next Allstar in the making in Tyreke, 2 up and coming SF’s (Donte and Omri), a really good defensive rebounder (Brockness), a guy who could be a good center (JT after some training and mentoring) and an exlectric PG/Sg in Beno..I don’t think we are necessarily missing 2 big men, just really one solid one which is what bosh is. With averages of 24PPG, 11.1RPG and 1.1 BPG, He really could be the difference maker here. We are really only missing either a PF or a great center and this team could be Electric Dynamite!
Judgment day is coming!
Could be yes.
But I’m not sold that is the final answer. I’ll live with it if it is, and come on board eventually, but I certainly won’t agree with any decision to bring in Bosh that ships out JT/Spence. People get down on them, but they aren’t the worst big men in the league or the best. There is something to be said for that. Most top big men in the NBA are picked in the top 5.

just finished today's game on the DVR
The Kings played well for them, Atlanta just controlled the game. Joe Johnson kept them ahead or close when the Kings made a run, the bigs controlled the boards and when JoJo went out, Jamal Crawford took over.
Still have to put together 4 quarters, 48 minutes. Good effort, but again, the scrappiness is not yet there on the road. If they keep that, they will have the chance to win some of these games.
