This team needs to get on the Yellow Brick Road
We need Brains...stop turning over the ball.
We need Courage...take a charge/block a shot/play some defensive
We need Heart...If only everyone had the heart of Brockman...Rebounding comes down to heart not talent
We need to go Home...How come we can't buy a victory on the road from bottom-feeders?
Hopefully tonight, we can get these monkeys off our back. The scary thing is we are playing the team with Ruby Red sneakers.

Rebounding isn't always heart or effort
C-Webb was still averaging 10 rebounds after the knee surgery (with the Kings) because he knew where the ball was going to go when it left the rim

The complacency with mediocrity on this forum is outstanding...
Its seems like losing is okay as long as Kevin and Reke have good stats. I read several post that’ve said they’ve had a good last 4 games together…4 losses. Thats not a good game….unless you’re the other team. Two days ago I read a post that said Kevin was “untouchable”. How can a team that is 8.5 games back from the playoffs have any “untouchable” players?
Has there ever been an example of a guy who rebounds without passion…sure. There examples of guys who fart without buttholes too, so what. The point is, any HS coach will tell you in general rebounding takes heart and hustle…bottomline.
btw. Its not the # of turnovers we have (even though we’re 4th worst in the NBA) its how we turn the ball over. This team has lack of focus.
Kid yourself all you want, were more than just a slight tweaking away from being a contender. (We are careless with the ball, don’t defend, don’t rebound, lack toughness, lack leadership and an identity)
Fuck you you stupid punk
I lived through Will Solomon, Calvin Booth and Kenny Natt. I lived through 40+ blowouts. I lived through Kelly Dwyer quoting me on doing math homework. If you can’t take the fact that the Kings are not a 500 team yet, that they are an incomplete team (something that the director of player personnel said—-you might know him better as Jerry Reynolds—I’d hate confusing you), or the fact that this team has no real interior presence (nothing about JT or Spence said that either would become that player), than I think the only person who has a letdown with regards to expectations.
I expected this team to win 21-25 games this year, and said as much many times. I’m frankly surprised that this team has won 15 games, and am tinkled pink by such a fact. In fact, what really tinkles me pink (if not writing twice in 2 sentences doesn’t do it) is that the Kings have won 15 games already!!!! ALREADY!!!!!
Did I mention that A) you can go fuck yourself and B) Will Solmon, Calvin Booth or Kenny Natt are no longer associated with this franchise?

High Horse???…not accepting a 5 game losing streak is a high horse? You are a walking commercial for abortion. Don’t ever reproduce. Don’t ever coach youth. Don’t adopt.
Dude
This team won 17 games last season. This season is an improvement even though we are currently in a bit of a funk.
We were hoping, praying, and making animal sacrifice for the #1 overall pick and we ended up with the worst possible position. Then there was ope that the Spanish sensation would fall to us at #4 and we got our hopes up again. Then the team drafted a guy who played in a very inconsistent manner in college over the Spanish savior and we despaired again.
You have no idea what real disappointment is with this team so please feel free to stop bashing people who have been here with the Kings at length. I am sorry you feel like an expert now that you have been watching the team since we acquired a new 12th man stiff that went to a college you like. We can only hope to trade him to a team like the Nets where his skillz will be seen in the best possible light.
Well Said.

And now I'll show the difference between me & you
I don’t accept mediocrity; I know how to define it. I don’t purport myself to be the best writer on this site; alas I am not. When I wrote fanposts, I always thought the idea was to bring about a different perspective that noone else on this site did. I no longer write fanposts consistently as writing my own Kings blog takes most of that energy up. (I still occasionally dabble with this & that occasionally around here. I may do it again; I may not. Depends on how I feel. I suggest that I’ll more likely end up writing another fanpost or two.) But my writing at this site does not need defending or reminding. Those who wish to do so can do so of their own accord. I’m happy with my own Kings blog and how I write it.
That being said, I really don’t like people who tell me my opinion, and then have the gall to tell me to get neutered. If you told me that to your face, I would most likely try to hurt you. I don’t particularly enjoy having people tell me what my actual opinion is. I don’t enjoy telling anyone else what their opinion is either despite the opinion to the contrary. So, in that sense, you can go fuck yourself DaUconnDon.
Next, when did I accept mediocrity? Am I accepting it? First off, what is mediocre? I would suggest that defining mediocre as a 500 record. The Kings, now, are 11 games are under 500. That isn’t mediocre; that’s purely putrid. But, last season was putrid. This year there’s hope. How could this be? I don’t understand. How can a team that has won all of once in January show me hope? It’s impossible! In fact, it’s negligible! I should be hung with the fore fathers and the slaves who dared to dream! I should be in the Boston Tea Party! Fuck, I should be the Boston Tea Party.
The reason bad teams with good fans don’t stay bad, is bc good fans don’t accept mediocrity. You do this team a disservice. Do this world a favor and nueter yourself immediately.
This is where idiots like you, and you DaUconnDon are a fucking certifiable idiot, prove your actual idiocy. You claim that good fans don’t allow teams to stay bad. They don’t accept mediocrity. Wait a minute there, you just contradicted yourself. Either a team is mediocre, or it’s bad. It can’t be both. Or can’ it? Or should we, as fans, allow that? I mean, if every fan had control of their team, there would be 30 championships awarded every season. Right? I mean, that’s what every fan wants? Right?
DaUConnDon: You’re in over your head. I don’t care if I get banned or not. I don’t care if you think I’m an asshole. I don’t care what other people here think about me either. I don’t care about you, whether you wet the bed (you probably do), and I don’t care whether you’re a Republican or not (probably are; can’t help bad lifestyle choices can you?).
But telling me what the fuck I think? Yeah, you can go fuck your high horse until your dick falls off you stupid fuck.

Read it. Good Post.
The anger on these post is overwhelming. I haven’t posted anything that is incorrect or all that controversial. This forum seems to be stuck in a group-think mentality. Outside opinions can bring insight. You guys are way to sensitive.
I know it takes time….sometimes. Sometimes it doesn’t. I grew up on the East Coast. NY, Philly and Boston fans just don’t settle like this. Go head and be as happy, it bothers me not. If I were a lifelong King fan like ya’ll, I be very concerned. Like I said in a previous post…this team is more than a tweaking away.
Here's the thing, Don.
You come in with a whole bunch of fanposts as a newbie telling us what we already know. That we need a post presence and better defense. You accuse us of group-think, you tell us we’re not good fans for accepting mediocrity from a young rebuilding team, and you’re surprised that people react angrily?
Nobody’s happy that the team isn’t winning. Nobody. Check the post game threads if you don’t believe me. But there’s a difference between being happy about losing and understanding that we’re not there yet and trying to temper our expectations with a dose of realism.
We were never going to be a .500 team this year. Not a play-off team. And when we lost Martin five games in, there was always, always going to be an adjustment period when he came back. It’s just happening now instead of at the beginning of the season. Our sixth man has been out all year. We’re regularly playing three rookies, two sophomores and a very young center.
So excuse us who are in this for the long haul for not freaking out at every loss and not demanding trades be made now. There’s no point to either, and both are extremely rash.
And again, that whole group-think thing? Thoroughly obnoxious and patently false. There are lots of heated arguments on this site.

Real Kings fans do not want a quick fix.
We want long-term success.
I'm tired of the whole "StR has a group-think mentality" schtick
Just because most of the regulars here are reasonable people who articulate a nuanced opinion doesn’t mean we’re all a bunch of homers with excuses. Frankly, if you really think there’s not a ton of in-depth debate here on a daily basis, you’re either not paying attention or your too stupid to understand what you’re reading.
Also, if you’re ever in town there’s someone you should really meet that I’d think you’d get along with great. He also loves to compensate for his inadequacies with aggression and bullying. Just look for this guy:

Simply put, UconnDon, great teams get great players through the draft
Dwight Howard, Melo, LeBron, Kobe, Wade, Duncan…all these great players who lead their teams to title contention were drafted by their teams. Kevin Garnet was acquired by being traded for Celtics players (i.e. Al Jefferson) who were drafted by the Celtics. rondo was drafted by them. Manu, and tony parker, drafted by them. The great second and third banana allstars come once you have a great team in place already (Shaq/Pau with Lakers for instance).
My point is, UconnDon, everything you and we all want for this team will come in time. But when you’re a shitty team, it requires doing so through the draft. Developing talent aka assets. Trust me, the magic, cavs, nuggets, heat, and spurs (cause David Robinson was injured) really really sucked before they landed their draft studs. That’s the spot we’re in right now. We have our stud in Tyreke. We needa lose badly again this season, which it seems we are now, so we can have a lottery pick and keep building through the draft. Develop our assets. And then become a great team. We all can see our players as they are right now are trying and trying hard with their current abilities. But we just don’t have all the tools yet.
Screw you Knicks! LBJ to the Kings!!!
Kobe wasn't drafted by the Lakers
But they traded Vlade to get Kobe. But your point is still valid nonetheless Shizzo. (Except about the Spurs with D-Rob.)

Somewhat agree.
I only see about 4 impact players in this draft class though, and the Kings will be picking around 8.
Waaaay to early to tell
If we learned anything last year, its that you cant judge how good a draft class is this far in advance. Hell, around the time of the draft last year the experts were calling it one of the worst drafts ever, and there are three potential studs (Reke, Jennings, and I still count Griffin) and plenty of other impact players and role players. If you cant judge how good a draft class is in June you certainly cant in January.
"You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, and the three most powerful men in America are named 'Bush', 'Dick', and 'Colon.' Need I say more?"
-Chris Rock
what did all the analysis say last year?
that the only real player in the draft was Blake Griffin? and it was going to be a weak draft.
Casspi was picked 23rd.
Brockman was picked in the second round.
Martin was picked 26th.
Impact players can be found anywhere in the draft if you have a good front office. And we do.
When you become a top NBA scout, though, let us know.

Don't say "we"
Become a fan of the team and not one player…then maybe you can say “we”.
As to “complacency with mediocrity”, I think most of us understand that this is a work in progress. Are your expectations such that a 17 win team can add a couple of rookies and suddenly compete for the 8th seed in the Western Conference?
Please, keep posting – you are good practice for the trolls that show up with a coherent argument.

As a newby here at Sactownroyalty
I would like to thank you DaUconnDon for showing me exactly how not to behave.
My writing sucks and I really only signed up here so i can jump in on game threads. I figured it might be somewhat theraputic to be able to get a laugh once and awhile during a kings game. And yeah I might not be very funny but at least I don’t come off looking like a JV coach spouting pearls of wisdom like “rebounding comes from the heart.” ( i am pretty sure height, good footwork, and having an enormous ass can also help with rebounding, but what do I know?)
Simply put: stop spouting off the angry fan “we need to do something” rhetoric. It gets old. Real Quick. This team is not very good, we know this. They obviously need to play better defense and get more rebounds and I personally don’t think “heart” will change much of this problem (although obviously, it’s nothing more than a slightly educated guess). So with the roster as it is right now, I personally think the Kings sorta suck and probably end up with a winning percentage roughly where it is today.
That being said, it is RIDICULOUS to be angry about all of this. It’s not like there is some amazing defensive low post stud available right now is there? You really think Jamison, Murphy, or Dalember are the answer? And even if the kings are able to get one of those for a deal involving K9, it won’t happen until the deadline because those teams would definitely be looking for better offers (and more than likely there will be better ones). Al Jefferson helps with rebounding although (a) horrid defensively (b) injury concern and © i hightly doubt they would be willing to trade him for Kevin Martin at the moment and (d) no way they trade him for expirings.
Currently, the Kings are working the trade market and personally yeah i do trust them but we can’t really know for sure what is going on until the deadline. They just drafted well. REALLY well. They stayed away from any mid level sings knowing it was probably smarter to see exactly what they had before they went out and invested more money in a losing batter. They just got a coach who seems to be jellying with the players and if it does not work out, its such a small and short deal that it is basically without risk. They are not in danger of hitting the luxury tax. They have all their future draft picks intact. Heck even their problem front court is the youngest starting front court in the the league. Even though I personally suspect whether or not they can improve their defense or rebounding much, heck they can definitely prove me wrong.
In summation, what the heck do you want the kings to do? Seems to me this year they decided (a) to play their young guys and see what they got (b) they are trying to remain flexible and © they are keeping their options open. This to me seems like the perfect time for the team to remain patient.

My favorite parts of this little soure is
We need Brains…stop turning over the ball.
Yeah, you know I was just saying to myself the other day: The Kings lack brains so they turn it over.
We need Courage…take a charge/block a shot/play some defensive
Hmmm yes, that’s what the Kings need is courage. (Because courage isn’t coming back from 35 down, or finding a way to beat the Nuggets without Tyreke Evans or Kevin Martin, not to mention almost doing so at Staples vs the Lakers.) Taking a charge may be courageous, but usually most fans call it flopping. It’s a matter of perspective. As far as blocking shots, the best shot blocker on the Kings is probably Hilton Armstrong. That probably means you’re not going to have strong shot blocking on the interior. It could be argued, at least from my perspective, that the best shot blockers the Kings have is Tyreke Evans and Donte Greene. (In terms of overall defensive effectiveness, I would argue this point.)
Last but not least, what is “play some defensive”?
We need Heart…If only everyone had the heart of Brockman…Rebounding comes down to heart not talent
Yes, because all Brockman has is heart. Nothing else. I swear I saw a red pounding thing the other day where Jon Brockman was. Maybe I was mistaken.
We need to go Home…How come we can’t buy a victory on the road from bottom-feeders?Because the Kings are bottom feeders too, and all bottom feeders struggle on the road. The biggest problem is that Charlotte, Atlanta, Orlando and Miami are all above 500 and not bottom feeders. Sometimes the other team is just that good. (Which of course isn’t an issue in DaUConnDon’s world.) Ah yes, I feel all is right now. Now everyone affiliated with StR Group Think: Care Bear Stare!
