Around SBN: Watch Out For Cowboys UDFA Tim Benford

Sources close to the situation told ESPN.com that Dallas -- reluctant until recently to make Josh Howard available in trade discussions -- is prepared to part with the struggling former All-Star swingman in a deal for [Kevin] Martin.

No many how many times I read this

Its still stupid.
It would put the Kings a zillion under the cap if Noc is included and Howards option is not picked up, but what on FA that we could get has a better future than Martin?

well

Martin has had his share of injury problems, has a slight frame, and isn’t an exceptional defender. He’s good, but not perfect, and while you can certainly debate how many attainable free agents there will be out there that are better offensive talents, it’s well within reason to think they could could get someone that would be a better fit. Boozer, Bosh, Stoudemire, Ginobli, Rondo…

Uh Rondo is under contract with Boston

He signed an extension.

No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....

Oh, hes in the laegue two and Jayson Thomson and that Boggins dude on Milwokee, and Occur for the Jizz. Its a talented laegue.--Kfan in Korea

(And Rondo would be a terrible fit IMO.)

Because he can't shoot.

Anybody shooting 53 from the floor shouldn't be shooting 59% from the FT line.

Rondo CAN’T shoot.

ok

but it doesn’t stop him from converting on 53% of his field goals.

And shooting jumpers is about the only thing he doesn’t do exceptionally well. He’d instantly become the best passer the Kings have had in a long, long time, and he’s a terrific defender and rebounder.

by Alan Smithee on Jan 23, 2010 12:50 PM PST up reply actions

but

it’s really a moot point anyway

by Alan Smithee on Jan 23, 2010 12:50 PM PST up reply actions

It's a moot point

But it doesn’t change the fact that’s exactly why I don’t want Rondo under any circumstance. It’s just that simple. He can’t shoot, and Tyreke does everything else that Rondo does.

I'm of the opinion that anything done with Kevin Martin won't happen UNTIL AT LEAST the summer.

Everything else is just blah blah blah.

Also there is this clip from the ESPN Dallas column
Such a swap, though, would raise the possibility of the Mavs reacquiring Gooden. If the Kings waived him immediately, Gooden could re-sign with Dallas as long as he waited 30 days after his release instead of signing elsewhere, just as Antonio McDyess did last season with Detroit.

Or what happened with Gooden in Sacramento last season. I guess Stein forgot that, or didn’t think fans would remember that. I love this shit. It makes me laugh every time I read it.

Possible 3 way deal??

“Howard and Dampier for Bosh?” was a rumor on espn as well. Only way i see this as worth it is if we turn around and ship for Bosh.

by SKanthony on Jan 22, 2010 1:29 PM PST reply actions

lol it would cost u more to get Bosh.

what scares me is the Lakers probably have the most to offer and the most confidence they can resign him. Bynum++ for Bosh is not bad return for TOR.

Please, for the love of all that is holy, please stop using the following: "Book it.", "FTW", "Epic" & "Fail".

...no seriously--stop.

i wudnt do it. i feel like we can get more fo martin. if not a star, good team players n size to guard those big name big men n da leauge. cus we as kings fans know spencer cant. if we do trade wit mavs thou. id like howard, barea and dampier cus he can teach spencer a thing or 2. no?? n of course kings give up whoever else to complete da trade. because honestly i like martin. its not working right now bt i think if we put beno at da one tyreke at da 2 n martin small forward or off da bench itll shall work, paul isnt mixing things around well. kings wud b down by like 14 n da 4th n he aint doen anything different. switch lineup alittle. let rodrigez come in n give a few assist to martin wen he comes off a screen or some. i dont like martin holding da ball n trying to create. i think kings shud use him like rip from pistons goen around screens. no? wat cha think
