Is Omri's slump really an issue?

When Omri Casspi scores 15 or more points in a game, the Kings are...

wait for it...

4-12 (25% win percentage, as opposed to their 35% on the season)

That four game stretch where Casspi played lights out, scoring over 20 ppg on stupendous shooting?  The Kings lost all four games.  Obviously having a key player slump is not conducive to victories, but it seems that neither is that player's success conducive to wins.  When that success is measured by shooting and points, that is.

In short, the many comments I have read over the last couple weeks which point to Omri's slump coinciding with that of the Kings, his success didn't exactly coincide with the success of the team.  The problem is bigger than Omri, or any one player for that matter.

Whose fault is the slump?

Nobody’s. Everybody’s.

This is not a good team. This is not an average team. Anyone who expected to compete for a playoff spot is, at the very least, deluded. I am striving to be more civil, so I will not expound beyond that.

We are rebuilding. We will be doing well to win 27 games. If I didn’t think the team was getting better over the course of the season, and wasn’t bursting with potential, I’d be looking for scapegoats. As it is, this stew isn’t going to be done for a few years, so stop wondering why it isn’t done now.

A lot of people are saying so.

I wouldn’t trust most of them with my bike lock, though.

Uhm.... Dude

Your math is faulty… 4 of 12? You mean like 12 divided by 4 which equals .33? Not 25…

This would mean 33% is closer to 35% than 25% which means… what? I am lost on this one…

by MustangMBS on Jan 25, 2010 7:38 PM PST reply actions

he is right

the kings are 4-12 so add total games =16/ by number of wins 4
so16/4 is 25%

Ahh that makes more sense -- math wise

However, in terms of what it means other wise it ain’t so clear. What is the point here. If your point is that there isn’t enough developed talent and even having one guy score well isn’t enough. Then yeah I agree…

Or, maybe you are saying his points were good, but his defense sucked? Is that it? Cause I think he is pretty good defensively and would have to disagree.

But that would be me searching for the meaning in a post that isn’t clear and lack enough information to make a point. Just not clear enough…

16/4 is 400%

if only the Kings could win 400% of their games.. they might even make the playoffs

This is actually why I don't think I will do a fan post for a long long time

Because most of my thoughts just kind of end up falling into a dark well somewhere. I have no idea what this post is about. For all I know I might even agree with sactown but … ug my head hurts.

I'll explain

Omri is a sand pebble and the Kings are the sand…the NBA is the desert. When the rain falls all is good, but sometimes the H’s and the L’s don’t cooperate and the flowers get thirsty…wait! Chuck is back on….see ya

His slump I'm okay with

It’s the hump that has me worried

Well...

I don’t know if you can just look at points when determining this sort of thing. For example, his outside shooting is a big part of how he helps the team win. And when Omri shoots more then 33% from 3pt, Kings are 12-13. When he shoots less than 33% Kings are an awful 1-13.

This might also be a meaningless tidbit by itself, but shows there are other stats to consider.
