I have no problem with either roster

JT was on course to make the team, but his inconsistency and recent struggles have definitely knocked him out. He’s not playing better than anybody on the Sophomore team.

I scanned that sophomore list, too.

Disappointing not seeing Jason there, but pretty tough to make the case that he belonged there. Team-wide slumps are a killer/

I'm sorta surprised Omri made it.

I think he did make it because the rookie roster is so weak. But Taj Gibson? Taj ‘friggin’ Gibson?

What a thrill for Omri to be on the list!

I think the rookie list looks pretty strong with Tyreke, Curry, and Jennings on it. I would prefer to think that Omri got on it because he has proven himself. What a great honor for him. I would think that you would be happy for him, Pookie.

Thabeet's PER is 15.03; Hansbrough, 14.83; Taj Gibson, 13.59

Maynor even has a higher PER than Taj.

But you’re right, he’s only on the rookie team because he plays 24 minutes a game. If any of these players averaged that much time, they’d be in over him.

Not to throw some actual basketball talk into this...

but Taj Gibson has been pretty good this year. He’s not exactly Karl Malone but he isn’t Hasheem Thabeet either. His defense and rebounding have been solid while filling in for Tyrus Thomas and his unfounded sense of self-worth.

Arguably, only Evans, Jennings, Curry, Flynn and Casspi have contributed more as rookies this year. That’s not to say that he is the 6th best prospect in this draft. But as of right now, he probably is the 6th best overall performer.

Wakeup call for JT

This might be a good thing to help him get focused and end the funk.

Interesting you point that out.

But I hope that isn’t the case (for JT’s sake).

I also think his career stats to thsi point

justified him playing, but not enough to get him over the “Sacramento” hump. And the slump coming during voting time certainly did him no favors.

Agreed

He was right on track for his double double stats, when he went into the slump. Course his foul problems and attitude toward the refs didn’t help either.

The guy could also just use a break.

Hasn’t yet missed a game in his career, including preseason/summer league.

by unfair weather on Jan 27, 2010 8:38 AM PST up reply actions

This is a really good point.

The rest of the team will benefit from the break, I think.

I don't think that's really it.

But I think that break away could help him regardless.

Chance for rookie win?

Rookies haven’t won in 10 years. This might be it.

by MustangMBS on Jan 27, 2010 9:21 AM PST reply actions

oh of course

that is, if you “chance to win” you meant there was a chance the sophmores would go pre-party and and neglect to show up, then yes there is a chance.

by wallywagon11 on Jan 27, 2010 9:25 AM PST up reply actions

Hmm..

They get killed by the Soph bigs, but I think they win the PG battle. If they can out run and gun them it might work.

did you see Derrick Rose's Sprewell impression last week?

Seriously, i think he impregnated Dragic with that dunk. Derrick Rose should have been charged with a felony for that dunk. Could God himself even imagine what kind of things that man can do when in an exhibition game?

Did you hear about the miracle in New Mexico last week

Last Friday, a New Mexican woman found that the burn marks on a tortilla she had made appeared similar to the traditional western depiction of Eric Maynor’s face. So far, thousands of people have come from far and wide to see the framed tortilla.

Are we almost done with the Maynor thing?

Or is some lameass announcer in Salt Lake Effing City whom I’ve never even heard of really able to get under our collective skins so much?

actually i wasn't around here or reading this website when the jazz announcers said the stuff about Maynor

I actually have a few friends who are big NBA fans who before the draft, during summer league, and even now talk about how much they love Maynor and we make wildly outlandish statements about how great he is. I actually didn’t know the jokes have been going on here for so long, nor did I know it was in reference to someone actually saying he is better than Evans.

Basically i guess this is my way of saying I’m an idiot who likes to beat horses to death in horribly violent ways. Now I know, and knowing is half the battle.

sorry what i just typed wasn't exactly accurate

I figured it out yesterday when I saw a reference to the Jazz announcers somewhere. Apparantly i didn’t realize it could get really annoying.

Finally

It’s been a while since kings been in any all star and thanks to our rookies, were getting respect. Thank you Tyreke and Omri.

Sure we could’ve got the 1st pick of the draft, but apparently 1st isn’t always the best. They said that Griffin was the man to have for the 2009 draft. Now where is the pick of the draft? He’s in Sacramento and catching everyone’s eyes. God am I so glad they gave us 4th pick. I love Tyreke and what he’s done. Have fun enjoying your ROTY award Tyreke.
