Charlotte is no joke – they’ve gotten better and better as the season has gone on and will be quite a formidable opponent in the off-season.

But a blow-out like this – both at home and at near full strength – hurts quite a bit.

Nobody on our team can play defense

Westphal has been trying to shore up our weaknesses rather than play to our strengths.

And the results have been catastrophic.

I dont know ... when not having success on a regular basis you need to try

radical things. Beno disappeared in this game … Sergio couldve come in earlier. Donte was totally ineffective offensively. Noce was 3 for 5, why didnt he get more than 6 minutes???

not that it could be much worse than our interior D at the moment, but I don’t like Jt’s chances against opposition 7 footers. just my opinion

by thisismellow on Jan 30, 2010 9:37 PM PST up reply actions

And yet Thompson is showing MORE inconsistency

I agree that you are probably right on this, but after a strong start to the season, JT is in a BAD slump. He had better numbers today but I would hardly say he had a good game. I’m really hoping he develops into that player and I know I’m being hard on a 2nd year guy, but after he got my hopes up I’m having a hard time forgiving him for letting the bubble burst.

However is +2 in 38 minutes together. That lineup has the best defensive #’s of any lineup that has at least 35 minutes played.

Sergio

Always brings such a spark. I like him and Martin together. Why do we always have to have one horrible quarter? Damn we fought hard at the end though

by bxgrimm on Jan 30, 2010 9:35 PM PST reply actions

Sergio sometimes brings a spark that's productive

many times doesn’t. Just comes out runs around tries to do too much by himself for 4 minutes and then gets sat back on the bench by PW.

Well

In the crucial third quarter it was a mixture of Wallace and Jackson, and whoever it was scored basically at will. He was also really bad in transition – one of those Wallace leaks was his fault.

Martin was drawing Gerald Wallace as a defensive assignment?

Wow

Don’t the Kings have at least four other guys that would be better at covering Wallace? I have a hard time blaming Martin for not handling a an all star small forward, especially when no one else could handle him, either. Curious match up, that’s for sure.

There were times where Omri & Donte defended G-Dub and he'd hit a fadeaway.

It was that kind of night for Gerald.

Looking at it further

Jackson was 5-19 for the night, so I am amazed that he was scoring at will at any point in the game. It looks like Wallace torched everyone. Again, I didn’t see the game – I can just go by the stat sheet.

Part of the problem was Reke hobbling somewhat.

I think that limited Pw’s willingness to let Speed cover Felton and let Reke check Jackson. But nobody on this team had an answer for Gerald Wallace tonight. He showed why he was an All-Star.

Basically the only time he scored was in the third quarter

2-3 from the field and 2-2 at the line

I missed the beginning of the game, so maybe Martin was guarding him better. There were just some bad stretches where Kevin got overpowered by Wallace, Jackson shot over him, Kevin getting beat in transition – lots of miscues that was part of their run. Maybe the first half wasn’t so bad, but Kevin’s wasn’t pretty during that run.
