Preview: Kings at Warriors
THE OPPONENT
The Warriors, contrary to November, fight. Monta Ellis plays 49 minutes a game (or something), Corey Maggette would be an All-Star on Neptune (rational voters there) and Stephen Curry has proven useful if not better altogether pleasant. For some reason, "wacky" has dissembled into "alarmingly curious," and the sheer talent on the roster allows for a nice bit of competitive behavior in the box score.
LAST TIME
Tyreke Evans introduced the Ellis-Curry pairing to a little something he calls EL BENO UDRIH. Kings won.
THE KEY BATTLE
I would've loved to have been able to write Kevin Martin vs. Curry, but alas it was not meant to be. So let's go with ... Evans vs. Curry! I assume Beno Udrih (who just murdered Golden State in November) will get another go in advance of Martin's return. Given how desperately Don Nelson wants to play Ellis and Curry together, he just has no answer to this riddle, and he really ought to just be glad Martin isn't back yet.
BOLD PROCLAMATION
A King will register a triple double, thanks to a Oracle-inspired spike in missed field goals and transition opportunities.

it has been one year today since I joined StR, and you guys have been great!, This is my 984th comment ,of which 7 have been intelligent, 1 insightful, and all misspelled. I have 13 blogs one amusing and the rest mostly questions to find out stuff from you guys (i still think we should have a question section). Any, thanks again, and now back to relevance.
I am looking forward to Tyreke versus the mini guards of GS. As long as JT ands Tyreke stay out a foul trouble, and we slow down there break , we should be good. This is the type of game where Spence doesn’t get may minutes. I am looking forward to picking up a W (not Bush) and then Martin (not MLK) returning Tuesday._

Don Nelson and his horde, against PW and his ROY lineup.
Not much to say about either teams defense, except the Kings occasionally show one. GSW like the Kings had a better record early in the season (6-10), but since Dec 1st are only 4 & 14. Also, like the Kings, the Warriors are much better at home with a 6-7 home record, putting them at 4-17 on the road. Which means they played less than 40% of their games at home, and might indicate that they are better than their 10-24 record implies.
Since Dec 1st they have 2 road wins against NJN & MIN, but they have 2 impressive home wins against BOS & PHX. Meanwhile except for a 1-point loss to Denver, the Warriors haven’t challenged many teams, and the Kings have battled some of the best in the league down to the wire.
In the last meeting in Sac, the Kings won every important stat except Fast Break Points. The Kings had 62 points in the paint to their 46, 52 Rebs to their 34, 15 ORB’s to their 7, 38 FTA’s to their 28, while both teams averaged around 50% shooting and limited turnovers to 14 each.
The starting backcourt of Curry & Ellis, means PW doesn’t need to start one of our SF’s at the 2, so expect Tyreke and Beno to go for the Kings, and give the Warriors backcourt way too much trouble. Although the Kings need to be careful with the ball because the Warriors are averaging an amazing 9+ steals a game.
With Turiaf, Randolph, and Maggette on the front line, PW has the option of starting Donte at the PF, but I expect him to start Spencer, JT, & Omri. But, he’s fooled me more than once, so JT starting at center and Spencer coming of the bench might not be out of the question.
GS needs to have a couple of players to really get blistering hot from the field to pull off a win. I expect the Kings to slow down the pace, but with Tyreke starting at PG was there ever any doubt. And, the Kings will dominate the glass, so there’s really no need for everyone to hit the boards for rebounds. I’d like to see at least 2 players drop back as soon as any shot goes up, to defend against the fast break.
In an offensive onslaught like this game should be, I’m not sure how many minutes our defensive bench players like Ime & Jon will get. But, I expect the Kings bench to out play the Warriors bench. The game looks to be closer than it might seem, but the outcome shouldn’t really be in doubt. I like the Kings by 8, 117-109. Go Kings.

I think the dubs are going to be up for this game in a big way and I don’t think it’s going to be a walkover by any means (hope I’m wrong). If I was a betting man (not at all) I think the bet might be over/under 285. The dubs defense is mainly ball hawking on the passing lanes in transition and I’m a little concerned by our propensity for turning the rock over, they will capitalize and score.
This should be a winnable road game. I would love to see the Kings beat the dubs handily and shut up their fans for the balance of this season. If the Kings lose we are going to hear about it forever. This should be a good gut check to see where the Kings are as a team

But that would be lovely.

Maybe Brockness goes for 10 ORbs today.
Should be easy to grab.
Reke should get very close to trip dub (25-10-9).
And Omri will have his career high today. 30+pts.

I think every rebound Tyreke has turns into an assist to Omri
he’ll grab the board and throw it downcourt to Casspi who will dunk every one as hard as he can

Neither will even try to stop him
Ellis will just try to outscore him. Curry will run home to daddy.
Screw you Knicks! LBJ to the Kings!!!
In two games this year
One in preseason and one in the regular season, the only Warrior who was even remotely able to slow Tyreke down was Stephen Jackson. Since hes not here, I expect to see Maggete play Tyreke most of the time. Also in the previous matches, Tyreke has absolutely dominated Monta Ellis.

Kings Fans Unite!
We’re going into enemy territory tonight. I live in the bay area & will be at the game. Warriors fans hate the kings — maybe it’s an inferiority complex — so I’m expecting a nice reaction from the home fans when they see my friend & I decked out in Sac gear, esp. since we’re sitting in row 5 of Sec 108.
If any other Kings fans are going to the game, let us know where you’ll be. We need to represent Sactown HARD tonight…our young Kings need us tonight in hostile Oracle Arena.
Have fun and thanks for reppin'.
Tell a third of those Warriors fans they can start rooting for Sac again now…keyword: again.

where we won 48 games we were still the most exciting team…and there are fairweather fans everywhere.

atleast the warriors always fill up oracle…

Take care of the ball, slow it down just a little and attack their defensive weakness= pretty much the whole team.Randolph can block shots and might be a good defender someday, they have no one who can defend Tyreke or Beno. Go Kings

Hollinger Today on Insider
Hollinger (aka Mr. Tyreke is NaPG) thinks NO-SAC are natural trade partners b/c we can help them get under the tax threshold – aren’t we nice? Apparently, Beno and 31 yr old 41% shooter SG Devin Brown have about equal trade value, and we may as well give up a few million of cap space because we are not getting Lebron anyway, so we don’t really need it.
Getting a #1 from NO would not be bad, mid 1st round pick (15-20), most likely. Other than that…meh.
http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/insider/columns/story?columnist=hollinger_john&page=PERDiem-100108
New Orleans Hornets, $3.33 million over
The Hornets may make the playoffs despite their slow start, but that doesn’t change their terrible economics. The Hornets aren’t making much bank and are unlikely to sign off on what amounts to $10 million in expenses ($3 million in salary, $3 million in luxury tax, $4 million in foregone distributions) just to give themselves a 50-50 chance of making the playoffs as L.A.’s Round 1 punching bag.
New Orleans has added incentive because the Hornets already are over next year’s projected luxury-tax line by several million dollars. (Orlando, the Lakers, Denver and Dallas are the only other four teams that are certain to be over, though several other clubs dance perilously close to the line.) Because of this, some wonder if the Hornets will be forced to deal David West, but I doubt it will come to that.
As luck would have it, the Sacramento Kings are $4.15 million under the cap at the moment, making them an obvious trade partner. The two sides could set some kind of record for dead money included in a deal, actually, if the Kings swapped Kenny Thomas and Andres Nocioni to the Hornets for Darius Songaila, James Posey, Morris Peterson and Hilton Armstrong.
Such a deal would likely cost the Hornets cash and a first-rounder, too, since the Kings would be eating into their potential 2010 cap space. In fact, the Kings might turn the screws and demand that promising point guard Darren Collison be part of the swap. Nonetheless, that might be worth it for New Orleans since it would get them under next year’s tax as well as this year’s — much as it made sense for Utah to deal Maynor recently.
Other variations on this deal also work. For instance, replace Nocioni with Beno Udrih and Armstrong with Devin Brown and the Hornets save just as much this year, albeit less next year. Subtracting Thomas and Posey from the deal also works. In all of these scenarios, incidentally, the four-for-two or three-for-one nature of the deal would require Sacramento to cut Sean May. But I presume they’d get over it quickly.
The point is that the Hornets have an obvious incentive to rent the Kings’ cap space, and the Kings could use some of what the Hornets have to offer (cash, a pick, potential relief from the 2011-12 money owed to either Nocioni or Udrih). It cuts into Sacramento’s cap room for next summer by about $3 million (depending on the exact parameters), but considering that draft picks normally cost $3 million, they’d get cash and a couple of useful players out of it. And since they weren’t going to be in the LeBron sweepstakes anyway, it works out nicely on their end, too.
I wouldn't have a problem taking on a couple of contracts that run into next season
if it meant getting Collison and/or their pick. I’d rather pass on the contracts that run beyond next season(namely James Posey).
