Reading through a lot of the game recap and boxscore situation, it is clear that we have all been starved of NBA basketball. Too many of you are making way too much of one preseason game. The Kings could go 7-0 in the preseason and that won't matter one bit. Same with going 0-7.
I saw someone mention that the Phoenix Suns got slaughtered by the Raptors yesterday as well, and that the 2nd spot in the Pacific might be up for grabs. Remember last preseason when the Kings beat the OKC Thunder? First game of the regular season, the Thunder came out to play while the Kings acted like it was still preseason and got blown out.
You cannot tell how a team is going to be just from preseason. You can't tell how a player or rotation is going to work out after one preseason game, or likely even 7. At this point, we don't even know who will make the final roster. We haven't even seen Hassan, Sammy, the Juice Man, or Cisco play with the team.
Lets wait until the regular season to speculate on Coach Westphal's rotations, and trying to decode hidden meanings from his words. Let's just appreciate the fact that we have a team that appears on the up for once, and look at these games the way they're meant to be : as glorified practices against other NBA teams.
So as we watch (or listen more likely) to these preseason games, try not to rampantly speculate about what may or may not happen. Try not to get too excited or too morose if the Kings win or lose. Treat a bad game or a good game from a player with a grain of salt.
Other than that, enjoy.
