Post-Game Thread: Bulls at Kings

Guys, I think I'm crazy for watching this team right now.

Seriously though, I didn't start watching the game until the 3rd quarter. So I missed out on everything good it seems.

I'm sick. I'm tired. I'm angry.

This is just unacceptable. I don’t even know what I was watching in that 4th quarter. I should’ve stayed asleep.

Man, I finally got rid of my family at hallftime, turned on the TV and thought I was dreaming.

We were up 13. So I was excited…and then they started playing again.

Crash landing back to Earth.

Oh well. On to the next one, and on Tuesday, can we get a win, guys? Please?

Here we suck.

To have played so well in the first half and to suck so bad in the 2nd is simply inexcusable.

Final Thought before I go write my Bad and Ugly post

If we lose badly to the Pacers on Tuesday, it doesn’t matter what your personal feelings on Westphal are, he’s not long for the Kings bench.

So it just comes down to the Pacers Game?

Why do you think this? Just curious…seriously.

by Bambooozled on Nov 27, 2010 9:44 PM PST up reply actions

Because if we lose the Pacers game (AT HOME)

We will have lost 11 of our last 12 games (9 at home), with a back-to-back at the Lakers, and then coming home to face the Mavericks. After that there are two games for redemption, once more at the Clippers, and then against the Wizards for the first time. Then we play the Heat, Rockets, Hornets, Thunder, and Rockets.

I think Westphal has a very long leash

I think the Kings picked up Westphal’s option gives him a lot more breathing room. I honestly don’t believe they will relieve Westphal until season’s end.

I have my doubts...

it still seems pretty early and Petrie tends to be more patient than us fans. However, if the infighting continues, they’re not going to have a choice.

Honestly, if the Kings keep losing,

realistically, how many more chances does the front office give Westphal? I know firing him won’t accomplish anything and yada yada, but could a new coach or an interim do any worse than what Paul W has done up to this point? Imo no. I fear his coaching day’s for the Sacramento Kings are almost numbered.

It is

but it’s only a quick fix

Kings go on another 6 game losing streak with new coach

what then?

Is it not worth the gamble?

We know that Westphal is capable of a 6 game losing streak and then some.

by DiegoKing on Nov 27, 2010 9:52 PM PST up reply actions

It's worth it to satisfy some of the fans

my thing is though, I’d honestly not fire a coach then have an interim coach in there, because then, the players will just give up. The interim coach will not be there next season.

I know it’s easy for fans to just say fire the coach, and I don’t think it’s crazy talk, but there is absolutely no one available that I want and if they are available it’s for a reason.

I agree.

Westphal sucks, but there isn’t anyone better on the market. Might as well stick with him for consistency’s sake [although the coach will really be the only constant thing with his lineups] for the rest of the season unless something really calls for his replacement later on down the road.

Is it the coaching? Does every team in the NBA have more talent,

Is it the players that have given up? Or is it all of the above?

Brennan Huff: I have a belly full of white dog crap in me, and now you lay this shit on me?

by DiegoKing on Nov 27, 2010 10:00 PM PST up reply actions

Totally agree

I’m so conflicted on Westphal…I liked him a lot last year and this year am SO disappointed with him, as well as with the players, obviously. I don’t know what the answer is, but like you said, no one else is available that I’d rather have. That might be a different story during the next offseason, as teams have a habit of firing coaches when they feel their team had a disappointing season, whether or not it’s warranted to blame the coach.

I’m pretty pissed off now, but by tomorrow i should be calm and ready to root for the kings on Tuesday

Well

That first half was the greatest 24 minutes the Kings and I have shared this season. What happened with the player substitutions in the second half was atrocious. Westphal had so many different guys in at different times I felt like I was going to be dizzy trying to figure out who was on the floor!

I was uncool before it was cool

by Dirkula on Nov 27, 2010 9:53 PM PST reply actions

Pretty good coaching huh?

Brennan Huff: I have a belly full of white dog crap in me, and now you lay this shit on me?

by DiegoKing on Nov 27, 2010 9:53 PM PST up reply actions

Sadly

I wasnt on the fire Westphal bandwagon prior to this game. I was even more encouraged when they came out the way they did, but that second half was inexcusable. No cohesiveness and I think it started with all the crazy line ups. Obviously Westphal doesn’t control the players actions on the court, but it was obvious how poor his combination’s were. The players just looked lost and confused.

On a side note, I was pretty disenchanted with JT one of those final plays, when he saw Beno on the floor and rather than helping him up, just walked away and Chicago’s Deng went over to help Beno off the floor. I think there is more going on in that locker room than any of us know.

I was uncool before it was cool

If westphal gets fired,

does that mean petrie is next? because he was the one that handled the coaching decision and chose westphal as his guy to coach the kings? Not saying Petrie should be fired but if your gonna fire the coach, do you also fire the guy who put all his marbles into him succeeding?

Yeah. I don't have a problem with Westphal.

This is the issue when you got a lot of young players. They have a tough time meshing and finding mixes that work means sacrificing some of that potential for a player who can help you now. This team will sink otherwise.

I had planned to watch the game and chat it up on STR with you fine people

But then got called into work. I now think it was a wise decision to pick up the shift (and not just because I need the money). I guess it’s a silver lining that they apparently played amazingly well in the first half (well, for the Kings, at least), but it’s pretty discouraging that they couldn’t even keep it up for one game. Sigh. I’m glad I didn’t have to witness it…and I’m sorry to those of you who did :(

But I wasn’t scheduled, had worked 8 hours (meaning was there for 8 hours 45 min) the night before, didn’t get much sleep, etc. I’m glad I agreed to go in, but it may have been a wiser decision to stay home and do homework, but whatever. I clearly didn’t miss much of a game so I’m OK with it.

Where's the pick n roll ?

The kings on offense is offensive!Do they know what a pick n roll is? It’s ran in every rec league in the world.80 % of the time D.Rose had the ball it was pick n roll. The pnr is so simple to run yet hard to defend.I can count about 10 times we ran it.The Kings set no screens , no back door picks , everyone stands around watching .Turtle should be running pnr a ton we have descent big shooters Landry,Thompson,it can cause mismatches double teams where if they pass someone will be open. I had a felling our offense in the first half was fools gold.Guys were hot and even Dalembert was hot.I’m tired of watching Cousins dribble into a clogged lane out of control.Yet he is really the only one who sets the screen trying to get the pnr going. It seems like we don’t have a group of smart players.it’s up to the coach to teach I only see line up changes outta Westphall. That is not good enough to hold on to his job in my opinion.there’s alot more at stake here than wins and losses.we need a change
