thanks for the coverage
And PW comment about zone defense I think clears up the Donte issue for me. Its seems to be more about making Beno less of a liability on defense. If I understand correctly, the logic is that JT can guard 3’s better than Beno can defend anyone. PW is picking his poison.
Umm... I thought we were officially referring to Voison as the Chick Replacing Amick at the Paper? or CRAP, for short.
This made me laugh:

Not sure that I’m buying what he’s selling however.
I think what PW is saying is...
JT as a 3 in the zone is better defensively, than having Beno as a 1 in man-to-man.

But, how does that help the team, in the future.
This has been one of my biggest complaints about PW. He’s always looking for the quick fix. Either play a defense player like Mason or Ime, and now changing the entire defensive stategy to compensate for one players weakness. So, do we have to have 12 great players before we can play man defense?
I thought that since this is a team sport, that the coach’s job was to come up with defensive schemes that hide our weaknesses and take advantage of our strengths. Not turn an NBA time into a college team that plays Zone because the players are too inexperienced to learn anything else quickly enough.

It helps the team because JT is one of his better players
And he’s getting his better players on the floor in lieu of his weaker players.
What do you have against the zone exactly anyways? It is no longer illegal to play a zone in the NBA, so why shouldn’t he use it if it’s effective for a certain group of players?
