It's not that the Suns aren't interested in trading for guys like Jason Thompson or Solomon Jones. The other teams aren't biting.

You did not just put Jason Thompson and Solomon Jones in the same sentence.

What does Phoenix really have that would entice the Kings?

Seriously. That Phoenix is willing to trade naturally. Steve Nash is a player I’d be willing to trade for, naturally, but then again: I’m sure the Kings aren’t alone in that.

Goran Dragic is a possibility

as is Jared Dudley. I don’t think Phoenix wants to trade either one though.

We already have Dragic

but we call him Beno

I agree

they are very comparable, dont think it would be a great trade.

I wouldn't mind Jared Dudley

but i dont see phoenix trading him away.

by Merickel on Dec 10, 2010 11:33 AM PST up reply actions

Unlike in Phoenix,

Dudley would start for the Kings.

Hypothetically speaking of course

Since it would actually require the Suns wanting to move Nash, what trade package do you think would be fair and realistic for both teams?

by outrider on Dec 10, 2010 11:35 AM PST up reply actions

Trading Nash?

The Suns would probably ask for Reke. They’re not going to trade Nash.

Suns would ask but the Kings won't budge.

That's the challenge of it

What package would you accept for Nash (assuming they actually wanted to move him)?

by outrider on Dec 10, 2010 11:38 AM PST up reply actions

Depends

How much longer can and does Nash want to play in the league? He takes care of himself big time, so he could end up having 4-5 more years, but can he produce like he is now as well?

If he can produce like he is now with maybe slight dropoffs for 4-5 more years, I’d trade anyone but Reke and Cousins for him, and anyone includes future draft picks.

Interesting

At least offensively, Nash might be a great pairing with Reke. But I wonder how high the Suns value 1st round picks. I would certainly be open to a trade like Nash for JT (or Landry) and our 2011 Lotto pick, but that would tank Phoenix’s season.

They might counter with an offer of Nash + Turk, for Landry, Omri and the ’11 1st round pick, but the Kings are giving up too much in youth and contract $s to make something like this work.

by SactoRyan on Dec 10, 2010 12:32 PM PST up reply actions

I can't tell if your serious or not

If you were Phoenix, would you move Nash to the Kings for anything less then either Tyreke or DMC along with Landry/JT + Omri + 1st round pick?

Nash might be old, but he’s the face of that team and in a different league then everyone else on this team. We won’t get him and they won’t trade him unless he requests it.

by jstnblke41 on Dec 10, 2010 1:57 PM PST via mobile up reply actions

1st round picks would be involved.

But the Kings won’t bother with wanting to trade a lottery pick to the Suns. Probably someone like Jason Thompson, and another player. Maybe cap relief on a long contract of Turkoglu perhaps.

It’s gonna be tough to get a deal with the Suns they are really happy with. Nash makes them a lot of money in the Phoenix market.

I'm pretty sure Nash would not be thrilled about coming to Sactown

The rumor on Hoopshype is

Solomon Jones for Earl Clark. This might mean that they offered Earl Clark for JT then. If this was the case, no thanks. I am not a big Earl Clark fan at all. If you can’t play with Steve Nash, then you can’t play with anyone IMO.

by elSAVinator on Dec 10, 2010 11:52 AM PST up reply actions

Serious

That’s the big problem. If Nash doesn’t make you look, will anyone we have? And even if you do look good how much of it is Nash? I think a lot of outside media are assuming we don’t value JT and that they can get him for trash. Maybe if Landry had played up to his potential we would be more open. But right now, we’re talking about trading our starting PF for very, very little in return.

They can have Carl if they're willing to part with Dragic

Landry would look great playing with Nash. Dragic would be great for us. And he’s way better than Beno, in my eyes at least. As far as the hypothetical situation of bringing Nash to Sac, I say no way in hell would I want to do that unless he was flipped to a contender for some good pieces/picks. I have too much man love for Steve Nash and would hate to see him on anything but a championship caliber team where he can get a ring

I just can't imagine what Carl would do for them

They already have weak rebounding big men. I do love Dragic though, but I would guess Phx is keeping him so they have a PG if the right offer for Nash comes their way.

Funny, I asked Beno about this.

He said he and Dragic are very good friends. Beno blames the Slovenian National team for everything and not his country mates

Landry for Dudley. Deal?

PHX would have to include one of their trqde exemptions, but I’d sign off on this with the quickness on our end

Wouldn't matter Muff.

It would get done because the Kings have cap room.

But PHX doesn't.

Landry makes $3 mil while Dudley makes $2.something.

Trust me, I Trade Machine’d it.

dudley just signed an extension

which creates a polison pill provision, which for trade purposes brings his total well above 3 million. since the kings are under the cap they can match making the deal plausible.

ppp means they average this years salry with the mean/median of the contract total(something like that) and the team absorbing the ppp has to send out that much within 25% with the other team absorbing the current salary within 25% making ppp nearly impossible to trade without a tpe or being under the cap which the kings are.

With Cap Room this doesn't matter.

Dragic is a great young player.

I’d take him over OJ Mayo.

I watch a lot of Suns because Nash is on my fantasy team. This kid has been pushing Nash’s minutes down to the low 30s/high 20s in most games… He’s a great passer, fast paced, he likes to attack the basket. He also does a little of what Nash does where he rarely loses his dribble.

I am not as impressed with Dudley as some

I’d rather lose Landry than Thompson at this point- I’d like to see the rest of Thompson’s season before making a case for him to leave. I think we’ll see him improve by the end of the season.
