Tyreke Evans to Miss Games?

As Tyreke Evans had another ineffective game Saturday against the Heat, the idea the reigning Rookie of the Year would have to sit out a bit to rest his injured foot continues to take hold. The Bee's Jason Jones quoted Paul Westphal following that Heat game as saying that if Evans can't adjust and be effective, the team has to try something else, which would be assumed to be rest.

Sunday morning, Tyreke's brother Doc Evans, the leader of Team Tyreke, tweeted that they are about to "shut Tyreke down." When asked, Doc didn't indicate the decision had been made by Tyreke himself, and it's not clear how many games of rest he'd need to cut inflammation.

The Kings leave for a three-game road trip on Monday. The first game is Tuesday in Houston; that's followed by the Hornets Wednesday and Thunder on Friday.

In five December games, Evans is averaging 13.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game while shooting only 35 percent. I would expect Francisco Garcia to start in place of Evans if Tyreke sits.
