Oh that's good.

Because all I want to see is dunks. Not things like Jason catching a cutting Tyreke, or Demarcus finding wings from the post, or Cisco all up in everybody’s grill. All I want is dunks.

I don't know how Evans has made some of those shots

but I’m glad they are going in!

"For five decades (and counting), these fans have been blessed with West, Baylor, Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Shaq and Kobe. Seven of the 15 best players ever. At some point, the gravy train will end. The Lakers will bottom out like the Knicks did last decade, submarined by bad moves, poor signings and unlucky drafts. Their fans will flee in droves. Jack will pass away. The buzz will be gone. That's how the NBA works -- in a 30-team league, you can't always get lucky, not even if you're a big-market team with deep pockets. I don't know if that day is three years off or 30, but it's coming." Bill Simmons

BUT , (im listening to the radio and have been since dish shit on me.) Every time he gets any excitement in his voice , its always jocking the other team. I’ve never listened untill recently and wont continue to when and if we get csca back.

I never said "worse"

all those teams had either reached some kind of mediocre/terrible stasis or were obviously on the decline. this season, they were supposed to build on their experience last year. it’s tough to watch them, since something has gotten in the way of that progress. I don’t think that can be disputed.

There really weren’t any expectations for that team though. Everyone knew we were about to blow up the team, it was just a matter of time.

And while this year’s team certainly wasn’t playoff bound, they were supposed to really improve and grow. That’s not happening.

A bunch of older veterans on a .500 team that were making more money than they were worth?

This year’s team is frustrating because they have the talent, and they can’t finish games. No one was expecting 50 wins, but we were expecting the team to be competitive and improve on a weekly basis. Since the first week of the year, we’ve only gotten worse by leaps and bounds.

I expected a mediocre team and they weren't even competitive a lot of nights.

Yeah, that was worse. I’m glad it started the rebuilding. Just because you start rebuilding doesn’t mean it will turn around immediately.

This is a young team. Progress isn’t linear or judged week by week in literal terms. Give it more time.

I disagree

The Kings have showed great stuff, but nowhere near consistently. The first half today was better than any ball I remember being played last season- what we got then was endearingly poor play from a squad with no expectations. What we’ve had so far this season is occasional great play that distressingly sets off the awful play, which unfortunately is far more common. To say that they’ve “only gotten worse by leaps and bounds” isn’t accurate, it’s that the glimpses of their capability make the unacceptable stuff even more so.

by lead_pipe on Dec 15, 2010 7:48 PM PST up reply actions

Not even the 80’s Kings or the 08 Kings? I recall those being equally or more so frustrating. This team is just frustrating because we have more talent than has been shown

by raiderking21 on Dec 15, 2010 7:39 PM PST up reply actions

exactly

I’m not saying they’re the worst team, I’m saying they’re the most frustrating, because it’s obvious there’s a lot of talent, but they can’t put it together at all. there’s also the fact that they seem to have regressed from last year, mostly because if tyreke isn’t playing like an all star everything falls apart.

by ptgloden on Dec 15, 2010 7:41 PM PST up reply actions

For one, 15 years would be since 1995. So the 80’s Kings are out the window.

I think it's better that he adjusts to his teammates because he's still young

And I think (and hope) it’ll make him a better player/teammate in the long run. I saw a a few times where he asked for the ball from Beno but was being overplayed, so Beno told him to move to the other side of the court so they could run something else. I actually saw the opportunity for Reke to fake out to the perimeter, and then cut hard to the basket in that instance.

There isn't a PM system, so I'll post this here.

Heay lead,

Hoping you’ll see it and read it, instead of me looking like a psycho writing too much.

For the sake of keeping it simple (Trust me, I could almost write a thesis on this.), these are some reasons why the Kings don’t have a leader:

1) Youth – The most obvious problem on the Kings is that they are young. It’s hard to lead a team as a youngster, as someone else put, “in a league of veterans”.

2) NaPG/NaRPG – Typically, the first player you would think would be the team’s leader is the one setting the offense and getting players the ball. Evans/Udrih/Head either don’t fit this mold or are not efficient at it. *Jeter is the exception; he in fact could become a leader someday in the style of Bobby Jackson depending on how vocal he is.

3) Lacking veteran presence – None of the team’s veterans seem to be making an impact on the team. Head, Landry, Dalembert, JT and Donte’ all lack the ability to stand out in their positions and/or be vocal enough to lead, even when on the bench (which shouldn’t be a problem because Bobby Jackson was a leader and he was a role player.). That leaves Udrih, who’s play style ultimately hurts his role as being a team leader.

4) Best player on the team – The second candidate to be leader is the best player on the court. In this case, Tyreke Evans. See reasons 1 and 2 for why he’s not a leader (yet).

Agree

Hopefully they’ll be able to find a way to extend their good play into the 2nd half. A competent 3rd quarter would have iced this game.

Also, what the hell is going on at halftime that leads to these second halves? Somebody get JJ on the red phone, damn.

No excuse for this loss. None.

Head shouldn’t have played. Kings probably should have gotten to the line a few more times.

We can’t figure out how to beat a zone? Is this high school? I’m fuming right now.

It killed pretty much all offensive momentum

But I can live with that from DMC. I want him being aggressive. These are the little things he can get over

It certainly didnt' help.

The lack of ball movement was also the greater issue.

Thirded.

I really had high hopes for Head, but his “magnificent defense” was a fluke and I’m pissed off at myself for believing in him.

PW is the one to blame on this one. Maybe he didn’t know Head was in the game. It’s hard to see the game when your head is up your ass…..

Head doesn’t move without the ball, with the ball he just stands on the court, does his stupid, predictable fake, then pass.

Or did the hornets start getting their momentum when PW adjusted to try and keep up with their small 3-guard line up?

The other Kings need to make the defense pay but that simply did not happen.

I can live with this loss

This one was all on youth being youth. Sure I was pissed off five minutes ago but its times like these I remember that every mistake we made down the stretch was correctable.

by Scirocco on Dec 15, 2010 7:37 PM PST reply actions

Exactly

This was still winnable with a minute left in the game. This really hurt initially, but no way am I gonna crap on this team as much as others will tonight.

I honestly don’t believe we make it to 20 wins this season, I hate to say it we are so horrible, our coach has to go. Luther head should never play in the 1st quarter let alone the 4th. Petrie has to see this. I honestly don’t know what Petrie is trying to build, I’ve been trying to give him the benefit of the doubt but damn, what the fuck has he done lately
