Now in his second year, Paul Westphal has demonstrated that he just does not have the coaching skills to apply to this very talented Kings Roster. Yes, the players are young, but this is the NBA. How long do we have to hear postgame press conferences where the coach says "they are young and inexperienced."
We need a coaching change and we need it now. Geoff Petrie needs to stop the bleeding. Last Sat. night against Miami, the Kings were still in the game after two quarters. Coach Westphal unbelievablly leaves his starters in for almost 8 minutes in the third quarter while Miami goes on a 15-2 run. The starters were doing NOTHING offensively or defensively. The coach doesn't use common sense. He leaves his UNPRODUCTIVE starters in the game for 8 minutes of the third quarter. Why didn't he bring in Jeter, Casspi and Dalenbert to stop the bleeding?
Jeter has been a huge spark plug for the team, sharing the ball, moving the ball and quickening the pace. Why isn't he the starting point guard?
If the Kings do not buy out Westphal's contract and make a coaching change NOW (by the first of the year), then the bleeding will continue and not only will fans NOT go to games, the possibility of a Kings' move to Anaheim or another city will be inevitable. Yes, their performance I believe is ALSO tied to the arena issue and the King's owners' decision to stay or move.
I welcome other comments.
