It's nice seeing the Kings continue to play even though they are obviously making mistakes.
Nice to see Reke with 4 FTA already too.

No mistakes in the tango, Donna. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....
And Kings are down 2!!!!

I think he's starting to shake the cobwebs out.
Now would be a good time as any. Keeping Cuz involved is a must too.

Yup,
Honestly would love to see them run the PNR. Keeps them both involved. There skills really cause problems in it.
Indeed.
But they have to recognize it too. That’s the key.

Hmm. I think when they show signs of using it well....
..then yes. You have to use plays that your players can do. Part of this is getting them to understand that they can run that type of play. Sometimes players don’t understand how to utilize all of their abilities.

The one team Landry can rebound on
Hope the Dubs are proud
Idk, but it's the Dubs.
Landry should be able to eat up them o-boards w/ little effort against them.
Stay focused, and stay away from unknown females.
keep attacking the rim
"For five decades (and counting), these fans have been blessed with West, Baylor, Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Shaq and Kobe. Seven of the 15 best players ever. At some point, the gravy train will end. The Lakers will bottom out like the Knicks did last decade, submarined by bad moves, poor signings and unlucky drafts. Their fans will flee in droves. Jack will pass away. The buzz will be gone. That's how the NBA works -- in a 30-team league, you can't always get lucky, not even if you're a big-market team with deep pockets. I don't know if that day is three years off or 30, but it's coming." Bill Simmons
man
theres some kind of lid on the rim for Reke. He’s only 2-12
Hopefully that lid will be lifted.
He just made his last layup.

When DMC learns that he does have that kind of advantage against this team and that will make him dangerous. Figuring it out against the top tier talent makes the Kings dangerous every night.

So many wonderful things about that sequence.
DMC alters the shot by Law, and then the layup by Law. Then Evans gets the ball and passes ahead to Cisco who is cherry picking.
Man, I’m not sure what’s better to see: Tyreke with the court awareness or the ffact that DMC just stuffed Acie Law all kinds of kingdom come. Both I think.

And how the other players followed up after him to get some put backs
Another good finish to a quarter

"For five decades (and counting), these fans have been blessed with West, Baylor, Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Shaq and Kobe. Seven of the 15 best players ever. At some point, the gravy train will end. The Lakers will bottom out like the Knicks did last decade, submarined by bad moves, poor signings and unlucky drafts. Their fans will flee in droves. Jack will pass away. The buzz will be gone. That's how the NBA works -- in a 30-team league, you can't always get lucky, not even if you're a big-market team with deep pockets. the kings giving away a game
just the usual

I hate to say it gang but Tyreke Evans has set this team back. We are going to try and build around him for the next few years and then we will have to start over. He can’t shoot and will never be able to. One day he hopefully will learn this and become a role player and then we can move on.

Detroit has worse talent IMO.
I’m not fond of Philly’s talent. I think Memphis is very flawed. I think Portland is flawed because of injury. Minnesota isn’t winning that many games. The Clippers are hardly the best team in the L right now.
I mean, really, do you really expect me to name some teams whom I think the Kings compare to in talent? All of whom are in the bottom of the NBA standings?

They all have flaws.
Detroit has a much more talented team. Maybe less promising but right now more talented. AI in Philly with out a doubt would be the best player on our team. Portland while flawed has been a playoff team for the past couple years. I would love to have Kevin Love ot Michael Beasley. (I am a fan of his and I know its not a popular opinion) And Gordon Griffin > Tyreke Cousins for present and future IMO. I realize that all these teams are shit but fuck we suck.
by 2thumbsandloveslutherhead on Dec 21, 2010 10:54 PM PST up reply actions
I think if you watched those other teams every game you might feel different
But I can see why you might think that after watching the way this team has played lately. You need to use your critical thinking skills though and look at all the angles at play here.
It’s very tough to like this team when you don’t think Tyreke is a future All-Star. I feel like 3 years from now we will still be waiting for his other skillsets to develop and trying to build around him before we trade him for dogshit.
by 2thumbsandloveslutherhead on Dec 21, 2010 11:05 PM PST up reply actions
He's struggling - big time
So now we’ve seen a full season of exceptional play from the kid. And we’ve had 25 games of mediocre play this season.
Tell me why I should think the minimal amount of games this year should weigh heavier on my expectations of Tyreke in the future than the larger sample size of games from last season?
It amazes me that some people are ready to throw dirt on Tyreke’s career after a poor start to his sophomore season.
Do u think that he will be able to be an all-star, the best player on a playoff team, becasue this is what we need if we are going to build around him.

There is not a single player on that roster I’d trade for DeMarcus Cousins let alone Tyreke Evans.
I have no problem in liking Love or Beasley. I don’t think either guy would make this team considerably better if you added just one of them to the roster. Jsut my opinion on that though.

This Kings team could use a lot of things.
I’m just not sure picking up a player is a real fix for the short and long term. Including a player like Ben Gordon who does a lot of what Beno Udrih already does (at a cheaper price in the case of Beno).
So, I’m not sure an upgrade outside of player development is to be had.

Oh god not Beno. The guy has 1 good game a month out of law of averages that this is the NBA and someone litterally has to score or we would score like 60 points. Against the Warriors he can score against the Lakers Ben Gordon can score. We need to get lucky and draft a star or hope Cuz turns into one

Depends on your expectations
They are worse performance and record-wise than I expected – and that’s disappointing. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t “promising”. They’ve got a hell of a lot of stuff to work out, but there’s some talent there.
Exactly.
It’s ultimately up to the players get this done. Paul Westphal can’t make them understand what’s happening on the floor.

What did they give up that would make this team better right now or put them into position to be better down the road??

Right
Because trading away Salary made this team fantastic.
Brad Miller and Salmons weren’t some offensive maniacs, but I guess that means we shit them out for a game of Gooden and a lot of fail by Noicioni. Oh, who we then trade away with Spencer Hawes (I guess he was supposed to learn from Miller) for the 15 minutes a night of Dalembert rebounding (those expiring contracts make a team better btw).
Oh yeah, Tyronn Lue, Anthony Johnson, Shelden Williams, Lorenzen Wright, How did they trade away all those great guys for some crappy point guard who was one of the best players on the Kings.
Ron Artest forever and ever > Donte Green + Cassipi. But not Bobby Jackson.
What did they receive that made this team better at any point or in the future? Oh right, I guess if you’re at the bottom of the standings every year you’re bound to draft some talent.
You do realize that many of those guys who were FA's who almost certainly would have left the Kings to go somewhere else.

Right, so
In other words, they dumped players to lower the hard cap so they could sign all those superstar contracts later who were to be dumped later? But, the soft-cap/luxury tax lets them keep their own players at a penalty and seeing how they didn’t go around signing these big salaries, they did it to save money and mail it in. omgz ur so dummy
The fact is nearly EVERY trade they made was to save money, rather than a trade to make the team better. Out of all these crappy trades, they got what? One first round draft pick and a 2nd? And yeah, they’re actually playing worse than they were seasons past. The one trade that has a possibility of making them better seasons from now is if Omri and/or Donte continue to get better.

message to tyreke
when you see cousins in the block.. give it him. there’s a higher chance something will happen.
but when you give it to him as the last option of course as a rookie he's gonna try to force a shot up.. so give it to him EARLY
ESTABLISH THE DAMN POST
not this game in general
he does force up shots (he’s a rookie,) but they seem to try to do things on their own and if it can’t happen they’ll give it to cousins too late. there have been more than a handful of times this season where he dominates the post & he’ll hit 2-3 in a row.. but then they neglect him for other options
oh and notice when cousins gets the ball
the team doesn’t move? even if they feed it to him and he’s out in 3-point range? that’s a coaching problem there. same goes with tyreke. he gets the ball = no movement from the other players.
That's a coaching problem? At what point is it a players problem?

I've been around here long enough to see my fair share (2 years) but I'm amazed at how many of them claim to be fans for x amount of years, and that they "just can't take it anymore!"
I mean honestly, is this really the worst you’ve ever seen the Kings? I’m only 23 and been a fan for about 10 years, and I’ve seen worse! That 17 win season was ridiculous! I mean, we might only win 17 games this season, but come on! We have Tyreke, we have DeMarcus, we have Landry and Casspi and Greene and Thompson. That’s a future! They suck right now, and they suck bad, but they’re getting better and progress is worth watching.
I am sooo freaking sick of these fans that claim they’ve been around forever and are leaving now. The way I see it, if you’re a fan, you’re a part of a family. It’s one thing to root for a team, but it’s quite another to be a fan. When you’re a fan, you’re family. Losses like this hurt because that team out there represents a special part of who you are and they represent you every time they step on the floor. They represent your love of basketball and for most of us, they represent where we’re from. They’re a part of who we are as members of Northern California and NBA fans in general. I don’t care who puts on that jersey, I’m going to root for them to win, and I’m going to hurt for them when they lose. I may critique and criticize, but I love those Kings players like brothers as long as they’re representing my team and my community. When your community struggles, do you simply abandon it? When your family is going through tough times, do you just walk away? No, you man up and do your part to help them pull through. I see myself as much a part of this team as any one of the players, and their failure stings me as if it is my own. But what can I do about it? I can put all negativity aside, suck it up and scream for my team anyways.
So to all of you who made read this and are thinking about abandoning your so-called “fandom” because you don’t want to be a part of a losing team, please leave. I don’t want your weak and cowardly voice heard around here. The Kings are getting better, but as of right now, we suck. That will continue for the foreseeable future. If you can’t take it go root for the Lakers, the Heat, the Celtics, or some other squad that is currently winning and then ditch them when they start to suck. But I don’t even want to see you around here when we start winning because if you can’t handle the bad, you don’t deserve the good. If you’re leaving, please don’t ever come back. You will not be missed.

The coaching staff needs to implement more discipline to Cousins.
Right now he’s a black hole in the paint, and he gets to do whatever he wants. He not only stays in the game after 4 horrible possessions of Melo impressions, they keep running the same plays to him.
They’re a perfectly suitable center on the bench named Dalembert. If Cousins is ever going to learn he needs to be benched for this sort of shit.
Same goes for Tyreke. These two guys think they can do whatever they want, and they cost us the game.
Dalembert is the worst offensive player on the team
so he is not perfectly suitable when we need to score

The implications of benching Cousins in the last two minutes of the 4th quarter would have been much greater than the possession and the game itself.
If this team truly wants to say that this is a season of development, they can’t let this go on without repercussions.
And did you see Cousins at the end of the game? That was horrible. Any veteran would have known not to take those shots.
Perhaps a veteran would know to not make those mistakes because he made them as a young player.

Embrace the good times and roll in the bad, because neither one lasts very long.
And just think about how much we’ll appreciate the good times. Just try to imagine the Kings in the Finals, drinking the champagne in the midst of the confetti. The thought brings tears to my eyes. That thought alone is what gets me through every night like this.
Reke
im immune with the kings not winning… but looking at reke, i dont think this kid cares how bad his so called team is doing… if you are the so called star of a team, you should at least have that extra gear to take games over or at least show an emotion that you are fuking tired of losing… make a stand and lead by example!
i know pw sucks at coaching but you cant blame him if the players themselves acted/played like mongoloids… the players should receive equal blame as well….

Reke's weakness is playing well with others. He's used to being able to force it and score.
Because he did it all last year, and will again when healthy.
i'm tired of all the excuses about evans not being healthy
i’ve seen him make a lot of moves that indicate to me anyways that health is not nearly as big of a factor as we have been lead on to believe. he is still capable. it’s mostly boneheaded mental decision killing reke…not because he is limited due to injury. the kid is not playing with the swagger he had last year. i think defenses have just done a lot to throw him off of his game making him have to excel at other areas of his game that he is not comfortable with quite yet. he is making bone headed passes, and taking boneheaded shots. all while being forced to shoot a jumper with different mechanics that he is not yet familiar with. sounds like a confidence issue to me

Evans health has nothing to do with his struggles.
Let’s get that out of the way right now. It’s completely 100% mental. Anything saying otherwise is not informed.

Agreed. A player only meeting is a bunch of bullshit hogwash to sell to idiots that the "team" of "players" are trying to do "something". What does it really solve other than to get your frustrations out of the air?

helps to hold the players accountable amongst each other. then if they fuck up their not just worried about coach getting in their ass…their worried about hearing it from their teammates. thats one of many problems with this team. theirs no one willing to step up and take charge. to me these young guys just make mistakes and it is kinda pushed under the rug sort of speak by players and coach alike. we need to get some players on this squad that will not tolerate losing but more specifically bone headed plays. i think a players only meeting reminds the guys that their in this together and can go a long way with helping them to trust one another….thoughts?

Jerry made a good point in the postgame
On the last play in regulation where Radmanovich tied the game…why did PW even have any bigs in the game? The only thing that would kill you is a three. Get all your perimeter guys in the game to guard the line.
Plus, watching the replay – the Kings allowed GS to pack the middle and the Kings were falling around like bowling pins. Why even get caught in that rugby scrum with two seconds left? Just get the frick out to the three point line!

Just rewound the DVR
Williams is shooting three free throws. He misses the first – Cousins walks into the lane towards Williams and makes the choke sign a few times. Then when Cousins gets back into position for the second free throw, he leans over and makes a couple more choking motions. After Williams misses the third free throw, the ball is loose and Dorell Wright gets fouled. He misses the first ensuing free throw, and Cousins makes the choking sign AGAIN.

Maloofs were front and center for this atrocity
It’d be very interesting to be able to hear them talking about this game…
For everyone's sake....
…I’m hoping they don’t.

They won't say anything publicly
But you know they ain’t happy campers right now. Of course, is anybody?
If you're happy about this....
..you’re not interested in winning that’s for sure.

You lost me
All I was saying was that the Maloofs can’t be happy with our play to this point and neither is anybody else.
If you aren't happy about the Kings losing.....
…you’re not interested in winning. It’s an allusion to wanting the Kings to move somewhere else. Kinda.

So
If you are happy about the Kings losing then you are interested in them winning? All this philosophizing makes my head hurt. Or maybe it’s all the bile I swallowed after this one that is making my head hurt!
If you don't care about the Kings (or any team for that matter) losing...
…it means you have ulterior motives. Either A) you want the team to move by diminishing interest or B) (Particularly in the Clippers case) you’re only interested in money.
Clear enough now? LOL

man the last few games, the team teased you like there might be a chance of them winning the games but gives you blue balls at the end but tonight they did a Lorena Bobbitt on us
Let me point to you where you stole my thunder b!tch @$$ Kobe ~ Eddie
Thank you all. This was my first game while on the board. I enjoyed reading the...
posts and all the stupid comments by the peeps with blinders on. I guess I’ll just have to learn to tolerate the DBs like Ichiban.
Still mad about sitting alone in the first half game thread...during the second half?
Care for a tissue?
Happy thoughts, happy thoughts...
Ah, screw it.
If I had a Tyreke voodoo doll, it would be full of pins right now. Maybe that’s not fair, maybe that’s not rational, but that last 44 seconds…
Hi, I’m Tyreke Evans. I’m a super awesome 3-point specialist. I’m shooting an eye-popping 28% on my threes, aren’t you jealous? So I’m going to totally ignore my teammates and the time left on the clock, and I’m going to shoot this ball onto that net. Oh, shit! I missed! But I never miss! Huh? Oh, thanks, Omri. You da man. Whopdedoo, let’s try that again. Ah, what? You mean we could have actually scored if I passed the ball? Well, whaddayaknow?
I’m going to sign off before I smash my keyboard. ’Night, all!

Have a good night Loco. Please do not play with sharp objects tonight. For your or Tyreke Evans' sake.

Well boys, I think it's official, call a press conference, Westphal needs to be fired.
We’ve been contemplating the switch for awhile, and we’ve found a suitable replacement in the form of a jelly sandwich.
