It's nice seeing the Kings continue to play even though they are obviously making mistakes.

Nice to see Reke with 4 FTA already too.

But they have to recognize it too. That’s the key.

Hmm. I think when they show signs of using it well....

..then yes. You have to use plays that your players can do. Part of this is getting them to understand that they can run that type of play. Sometimes players don’t understand how to utilize all of their abilities.

keep attacking the rim

"For five decades (and counting), these fans have been blessed with West, Baylor, Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Shaq and Kobe. Seven of the 15 best players ever. At some point, the gravy train will end. The Lakers will bottom out like the Knicks did last decade, submarined by bad moves, poor signings and unlucky drafts. Their fans will flee in droves. Jack will pass away. The buzz will be gone. That's how the NBA works -- in a 30-team league, you can't always get lucky, not even if you're a big-market team with deep pockets. I don't know if that day is three years off or 30, but it's coming." Bill Simmons

So many wonderful things about that sequence.

DMC alters the shot by Law, and then the layup by Law. Then Evans gets the ball and passes ahead to Cisco who is cherry picking.

Man, I’m not sure what’s better to see: Tyreke with the court awareness or the ffact that DMC just stuffed Acie Law all kinds of kingdom come. Both I think.

these dumb mistakes are killing me

"For five decades (and counting), these fans have been blessed with West, Baylor, Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Shaq and Kobe. Seven of the 15 best players ever. At some point, the gravy train will end. The Lakers will bottom out like the Knicks did last decade, submarined by bad moves, poor signings and unlucky drafts. Their fans will flee in droves. Jack will pass away. The buzz will be gone. That's how the NBA works -- in a 30-team league, you can't always get lucky, not even if you're a big-market team with deep pockets. the kings giving away a game

just the usual

Detroit has worse talent IMO.

I’m not fond of Philly’s talent. I think Memphis is very flawed. I think Portland is flawed because of injury. Minnesota isn’t winning that many games. The Clippers are hardly the best team in the L right now.

I mean, really, do you really expect me to name some teams whom I think the Kings compare to in talent? All of whom are in the bottom of the NBA standings?

They all have flaws.

Detroit has a much more talented team. Maybe less promising but right now more talented. AI in Philly with out a doubt would be the best player on our team. Portland while flawed has been a playoff team for the past couple years. I would love to have Kevin Love ot Michael Beasley. (I am a fan of his and I know its not a popular opinion) And Gordon Griffin > Tyreke Cousins for present and future IMO. I realize that all these teams are shit but fuck we suck.

by 2thumbsandloveslutherhead on Dec 21, 2010 10:54 PM PST up reply actions

I think if you watched those other teams every game you might feel different

But I can see why you might think that after watching the way this team has played lately. You need to use your critical thinking skills though and look at all the angles at play here.

by otis29 on Dec 21, 2010 10:56 PM PST up reply actions

It’s very tough to like this team when you don’t think Tyreke is a future All-Star. I feel like 3 years from now we will still be waiting for his other skillsets to develop and trying to build around him before we trade him for dogshit.

by 2thumbsandloveslutherhead on Dec 21, 2010 11:05 PM PST up reply actions

He's struggling - big time

So now we’ve seen a full season of exceptional play from the kid. And we’ve had 25 games of mediocre play this season.

Tell me why I should think the minimal amount of games this year should weigh heavier on my expectations of Tyreke in the future than the larger sample size of games from last season?

It amazes me that some people are ready to throw dirt on Tyreke’s career after a poor start to his sophomore season.

by otis29 on Dec 21, 2010 11:08 PM PST up reply actions

Do u think that he will be able to be an all-star, the best player on a playoff team, becasue this is what we need if we are going to build around him.

This Kings team could use a lot of things.

I’m just not sure picking up a player is a real fix for the short and long term. Including a player like Ben Gordon who does a lot of what Beno Udrih already does (at a cheaper price in the case of Beno).

So, I’m not sure an upgrade outside of player development is to be had.

Oh god not Beno. The guy has 1 good game a month out of law of averages that this is the NBA and someone litterally has to score or we would score like 60 points. Against the Warriors he can score against the Lakers Ben Gordon can score. We need to get lucky and draft a star or hope Cuz turns into one

Right

Because trading away Salary made this team fantastic.
Brad Miller and Salmons weren’t some offensive maniacs, but I guess that means we shit them out for a game of Gooden and a lot of fail by Noicioni. Oh, who we then trade away with Spencer Hawes (I guess he was supposed to learn from Miller) for the 15 minutes a night of Dalembert rebounding (those expiring contracts make a team better btw).
Oh yeah, Tyronn Lue, Anthony Johnson, Shelden Williams, Lorenzen Wright, How did they trade away all those great guys for some crappy point guard who was one of the best players on the Kings.
Ron Artest forever and ever > Donte Green + Cassipi. But not Bobby Jackson.
What did they receive that made this team better at any point or in the future? Oh right, I guess if you’re at the bottom of the standings every year you’re bound to draft some talent.

Right, so

In other words, they dumped players to lower the hard cap so they could sign all those superstar contracts later who were to be dumped later? But, the soft-cap/luxury tax lets them keep their own players at a penalty and seeing how they didn’t go around signing these big salaries, they did it to save money and mail it in. The fact is nearly EVERY trade they made was to save money, rather than a trade to make the team better. Out of all these crappy trades, they got what? One first round draft pick and a 2nd? And yeah, they’re actually playing worse than they were seasons past. The one trade that has a possibility of making them better seasons from now is if Omri and/or Donte continue to get better.

The coaching staff needs to implement more discipline to Cousins.

Right now he’s a black hole in the paint, and he gets to do whatever he wants. He not only stays in the game after 4 horrible possessions of Melo impressions, they keep running the same plays to him.

They’re a perfectly suitable center on the bench named Dalembert. If Cousins is ever going to learn he needs to be benched for this sort of shit.

Same goes for Tyreke. These two guys think they can do whatever they want, and they cost us the game.

by sdfd on Dec 21, 2010 10:08 PM PST reply actions

Dalembert is the worst offensive player on the team

so he is not perfectly suitable when we need to score

by prowseinthehouse on Dec 21, 2010 10:10 PM PST up reply actions

The implications of benching Cousins in the last two minutes of the 4th quarter would have been much greater than the possession and the game itself.

If this team truly wants to say that this is a season of development, they can’t let this go on without repercussions.

And did you see Cousins at the end of the game? That was horrible. Any veteran would have known not to take those shots.

by sdfd on Dec 21, 2010 10:13 PM PST up reply actions

Perhaps a veteran would know to not make those mistakes because he made them as a young player.

i know pw sucks at coaching but you cant blame him if the players themselves acted/played like mongoloids… the players should receive equal blame as well….

i'm tired of all the excuses about evans not being healthy

i’ve seen him make a lot of moves that indicate to me anyways that health is not nearly as big of a factor as we have been lead on to believe. he is still capable. it’s mostly boneheaded mental decision killing reke…not because he is limited due to injury. the kid is not playing with the swagger he had last year. i think defenses have just done a lot to throw him off of his game making him have to excel at other areas of his game that he is not comfortable with quite yet. he is making bone headed passes, and taking boneheaded shots. all while being forced to shoot a jumper with different mechanics that he is not yet familiar with. sounds like a confidence issue to me

Evans health has nothing to do with his struggles.

Let’s get that out of the way right now. It’s completely 100% mental. Anything saying otherwise is not informed.

helps to hold the players accountable amongst each other. then if they fuck up their not just worried about coach getting in their ass…their worried about hearing it from their teammates. thats one of many problems with this team. theirs no one willing to step up and take charge. to me these young guys just make mistakes and it is kinda pushed under the rug sort of speak by players and coach alike. we need to get some players on this squad that will not tolerate losing but more specifically bone headed plays. i think a players only meeting reminds the guys that their in this together and can go a long way with helping them to trust one another….thoughts?

On the last play in regulation where Radmanovich tied the game…why did PW even have any bigs in the game? The only thing that would kill you is a three. Get all your perimeter guys in the game to guard the line.

Plus, watching the replay – the Kings allowed GS to pack the middle and the Kings were falling around like bowling pins. Why even get caught in that rugby scrum with two seconds left? Just get the frick out to the three point line!

Just rewound the DVR

Williams is shooting three free throws. He misses the first – Cousins walks into the lane towards Williams and makes the choke sign a few times. Then when Cousins gets back into position for the second free throw, he leans over and makes a couple more choking motions. After Williams misses the third free throw, the ball is loose and Dorell Wright gets fouled. He misses the first ensuing free throw, and Cousins makes the choking sign AGAIN.

What a tool.

I could beat you on that.

The Kings were up 4 with 10 secs left and the Dubs having the ball and I left the bar to get back to where I’m staying. Apparently the game was just beginning at that point.

This is just making me sad.

I just want something to reward me for taking time out of my life to watch every Kings’ game that I am at all able to watch, and I just can’t see it. I’m losing faith, and I don’t want to.

Anybody that knows me knows that I’m not an extremist, so I’m not going to call for rolling heads, but every game builds me up going into halftime, but I always have this feeling of dread. It feels like they never prove the dread wrong. I’m going to stick around through the thin, and hope that the thick really is on it’s way. I just can’t see it right now.

Yeah. The Sixers eventually did okay after that.

It’s not the end of the world as everyone loves to say it is. Remember the Nets last year? They ended up with 12 wins. It’s really hard to lose that many games over the course of an 82 game season. Some teams have tried and succeeded though.

If you don't care about the Kings (or any team for that matter) losing...

…it means you have ulterior motives. Either A) you want the team to move by diminishing interest or B) (Particularly in the Clippers case) you’re only interested in money.

Clear enough now? LOL

Happy thoughts, happy thoughts...

Ah, screw it.

If I had a Tyreke voodoo doll, it would be full of pins right now. Maybe that’s not fair, maybe that’s not rational, but that last 44 seconds…

Hi, I’m Tyreke Evans. I’m a super awesome 3-point specialist. I’m shooting an eye-popping 28% on my threes, aren’t you jealous? So I’m going to totally ignore my teammates and the time left on the clock, and I’m going to shoot this ball onto that net. Oh, shit! I missed! But I never miss! Huh? Oh, thanks, Omri. You da man. Whopdedoo, let’s try that again. Ah, what? You mean we could have actually scored if I passed the ball? Well, whaddayaknow?

I’m going to sign off before I smash my keyboard. ’Night, all!
