Stop fading away on your jumpshot Tyreke...

"For five decades (and counting), these fans have been blessed with West, Baylor, Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Shaq and Kobe. Seven of the 15 best players ever. At some point, the gravy train will end. The Lakers will bottom out like the Knicks did last decade, submarined by bad moves, poor signings and unlucky drafts. Their fans will flee in droves. Jack will pass away. The buzz will be gone. That's how the NBA works -- in a 30-team league, you can't always get lucky, not even if you're a big-market team with deep pockets. I don't know if that day is three years off or 30, but it's coming." Bill Simmons

Kings have gotten screwed on so many simple calls this year

Including one where the Kings had a shotclock violation, but refs didn’t call it, then Dirk streaked down court for easy layup as Kings were going to set up for the defense on an inbound thinking thats what it was.

In the last 2 minutes, Tyreke made these plays.

Made a big three, missed a bigger three, and fouled Eric Gordon for apparently no reason (where is the half-court trap there?). That’s what I saw, I started the game with about 5 minutes left, Kings down 2.

Cuz missed 2 layups in that same span of time, and Jeter turned the ball over for a Gordon dunk. Who is crucifying them for that?

In other words, shut the hell up. Losses are never on one player in basketball. There is always something someone could have done better.

You might get one at Pooh's size. Glad he's making the most of it.

Short guys have to have utterly brilliant jaw-dropping skills to even get a look.

Rox have made a living getting those guys cheap at PG. (A living of sorts, anyway.)

Seems like if Tyreke doesn't play this game, the Kings lose by 29.

Tyreke was responsible for 22 points tonight, counting his assists.

NEK's trade comment

Just because I don’t really like any trade comment involving Reke, DMC, or any other young guy

I dunno

I also don’t like any comments involving fantasy land where we were saved from a player going in there and playing 41 minutes and not contributing one single point. A land where people can’t even be frustrated with one hell of a shitty performance

I predict JT will never breathe through his nose.

by wallywagon11 on Dec 6, 2010 10:35 PM PST up reply actions

True that is frustrating

I just think it’s more annoying that people want to trade a player over a few bad games. People have such a trigger mentality here it would be scary what they would do if they were GM;s

Even if it was only one bad play he did it at the worst possible time too

Wow. Just wow.

Why was last year’s team much better? Was it because of Desmond Mason? Or Ime Udoka?

Yet another oportunity waisted by Tyreke. Remind me why do we play him?

Ohh. talent… but when he is playing, the other players suffer. as good as he might be some day – he is more harm then good most of the times.

Can we please just rest Reke until he no longer needs to wear a splint at night

At worst the team will still lose but other players can get a chance to get more touches and find a better rhythm.

This one is really frustrating

This game was the closest they came to winning with all their momentum at the end, and then Reke just killed it by holding on to it too long. He still doesn’t know when to defer and when not to.

Compared to last season...

Is Tyreke better or worse? I didn’t watch many games last season and this season he seems to either clank or turn it over a lot. Are people upset with him due to expectations for this season? or because of how he looked last season?

by Aaron Can on Dec 6, 2010 10:24 PM PST reply actions

Because he has regressed from last season.

Tyreke can be criticized.

There’s a point where it’s necessary and a point where it’s not. It’s up to everyone to figure out that point.

I'm not saying Tyreke isn't to criticize because he had a horrible game

But to say that this loss was ALL his fault is a little exaggerated. I realize Jeter brought us back into this game but everyones decision making faltered in the final minute

Omri, Pooh, DMC were hot. in comes Tyreke - everybody gets cold

He is so selfish, it is unbelieveablr. Pw is to blame , though – ’cause he should “nagg” him all day about that.

Young or not these players are grown men. They are responsible for themselves.

Coaches are not responsible for them in the way they are at the High School level. Don’t absolve Tyreke of blame to toss some at Paul Westphal. These are all adults and grown men we are talking about. It’s their job to figure out a way to work together. THE END.

Not sure he's selfish.

He thinks that this is “his” team. He has to be “the man”. And “the closer”. Who can blame him, that’s what everyone told him.

But “the man” is now DMC. He has to be for the Kings to become a great team one day.

Tyreke

Played awful, and I think Pooh showed what a true Point Guard is all about. Distributing the ball, playing good D and having a lot of energy and leadership. Tyreke and his pound the ball for 10 seconds and then launch a long range 2 while leaning back just doesnt cut it. He needs to sit and get better or spend a hell of a lot more time with his nose in the books learning how to play team basketball.

I was uncool before it was cool
