Asinine Trade Thread, February 1st., Deadline approaching.
(Due to the approaching trade dealine and high traffic, we may has two installations per week as required)
This is the place for your well thought out trade idea!
This is also the place for all your pipe dreams, or for some wacky ill-advised nonsense just because the numbers match up in that Trade Machine Thingy.
Trade for players you love, trade away players you hate. Just trade to make the team better without regard to emotion - or make it all about emotion.
HINT: Think defensive rebounding, big man, young and developing, big time Stud - or short term enough so that you won't be crushed by "that kills our future flexibility!" comments.
But actually - do whatever you want!
Thats what this is here for, to keep other posts from wandering into 'I think we could get LaBron!'.
Out-think Geoff Petrie!
Please out-think Mike Dunleavy and anyone ever associated with the Clippers.
You never know, you may gain wide acclaim and Fame for your brilliant move!
Surgeon's General Warning: Only abstinance provides full protection!
Your choice - let 'er rip!

I choose abstinance
Last year around this time, I got a case of Nocionitis. I began to notice that I couldn’t pull my own weight at work anymore and yet was too slow and lethargic to keep up with everything around me. Doctor told me it could take between 3 and 4 more years for the side effects to go away.
Could some of you maybe use a condom once in a while?

It's not Nocionitis until you bring a gun to work and shoot literally every person you see.

I'm copying what I said on the CP3 thread to keep everything in one place
About the proposed trade of the week:
I thought Songaila had two years left Is the second year a team option?
I included him because then NO cuts even more salary for next year so that cushions Beno’s (Noce’s) addittion. If Songaila is a team option next year, then I’d take Mo Pete or something. That way we wouldn’t need to sweeten the pot. We’ll be taking 2 contracts from them, and getting them two expirings and a good (overpriced) G

Songalia
He does have 2 years left but there’s a ETO on the 2nd one. If we need to sweeten give em our 2nd rounder next year
And no i do not give up a 1st rounder or Brockness in this deal..sorry just my feelings if we are taking back a 5 year contract that’s huge and a 2 year that’s mid we are gonna need cheap guys to fill in gaps which is where Brockman/Udoka/Sergio come in next year

Ok, I've always wanted to participate in this
So here’s my trade:
Trade Machine Link
Kings get:
Tyrus Thomas, Kirk Hinrich
Bulls get:
Noce, Sergio, Hilton Armstrong
Why Kings do it:
We get Tyrus Thomas and another veteran guard to help mentor Tyreke/Donte.
Why Bulls do it:
They get Noce back, who seems to fit better than Tyrus within their system and they also get out from under Hinrich’s inflated deal.
Should we do this?
Probably not, but I have always kind of liked Kirk Hinrich, probably just when he played at Kansas. I’d like to see Tyrus in a Kings uniform and I’d rather have Hinrich than Noce, especially with Cisco coming back.

decent is a huge stretch
if we’re talking about Beno/Noc.
I get that Beno had two months of hot shooting, but he’s not good. Noc has been declining pretty much every year. He’s a floor stretching shooter that doesn’t shoot well…
Getting the two best players in a deal, where we give up the worse contracts is too good to be true.

Compared to other guys in the league i said decent, not great. There are a lot of people worse in the league the Beno and Noc(even though he is starting to decline) I think I would rather have Beno playing right now then Hinirich IMO.

plus he costs 2/3 as much
Bulls might get more for Thomas, might not. I think his cap hold next year will be as least as much as Noce’s salary, so unless they cut him loose outright they won’t have the cap space anyway.

the thing that I thought the kings wouldnt like about this deal

Great so next year we have no SG’s, we have to take on an additional 5.6M worth of salary this year which puts us over cap space, but we will have 22.1 million in EC so we can go after the FA’s who will not want to be here unless we can trade for em and make em be here. Petrie will love that with all the MLE’s he can sign with it

celts/bulls/kings
in keeping with the title of this and the unbelievable rumor that the bulls turned down a boston offer to get Heinrich with expirings (why wouldn’t they do that?)… anyway, heres a helping hand: Bulls get Ray Allen and Beno; Celts get Heirich/Salmons/and their choice of Noc or k-9; and Kings get TThomas and Jerome James (expiring)… and we hope Celts really love Noc.

what i would do as gm
Trade Kevin Martin to Nets for Terrence Williams, Tony Battie, and a 2nd.
Trade 2 2nd’s for a late 1st rounder.
Draft Hassan Whiteside C Marshall and Damion James SF Texas
PG: Evans/Rodriguez
SG: Williams/Udrih/Garcia
SF: James/Casspi/Nocioni/Greene
PF: Thompson/Brockman
C: Whiteside/Hawes
We have twin towers in the post with Whiteside being a 7 footer with a 7’6 wingspan and averaging 5.5 blocks for Marshall. We have 2 guards that can drive and pass it well or finish. James can shoot the 3 and finish. Our 1-3 all are good defenders. Thompson should improve as a defender next year and we will have him and Whiteside as good post defenders and scorers.
We have 15,381,600 come off the books next year just between Battie and K9. As for the trade, feel free to add another 2nd rounder or something without much salary wise if you don’t think the Kings would do it. We would have a team that plays together exceptionally well.
the things I like about Terrence Williams (considering he isnt having the best rookie year, which NOT uncommon):
-better defense than Martin
-younger/ more athletic than Martin
-shot 57/148 from 3 his senior year at Louisville for a .385 3P% (yes he can shoot)
-unselfish and can bring up the ball and distribute when needed, taking some pressure off Tyreke to always do it (averaged 5 assists his senior year at Louisville)
-very good at driving into the lane
-having Williams or Tyreke on the floor most of the game always gives us atleast 1 dynamic driver/scorer/distributer

dont forget that we also get damion james in this and he is a very valuable small forward in my opinion. he can shoot, rebound, play tough d with steals and blocks, and guard 2’s all the way to 4’s. he makes hustle plays and will be a terror on fast breaks too.

You watch a little too much NCAA basketball
College prospects are not worth nearly as much as proven NBA talent. You are trying to trade a guy in his prime capable of putting up an efficient 25 ppg for a couple of mediocre college prospects and a guy that was decent in his senior year at Louisville but has not had any success in the NBA. It doesn’t quite add up.

didn't you already post this?
Whiteside weighs 215 pounds, and he is our new starting center? Tyreke weighs more. Blocked shots don’t translate from college to pro unless player has special talent. Look at Hasheem Thabeet. He was shot swatting force in the Big East. Now he is 3rd stringer. I don’t know what conference Marshall plays in, but it’s not the Big East.
by bench_blob on Feb 1, 2010 4:44 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
whiteside weighs 235 according to the marshall website and he has room for lots more. thabeet is blocking shots at a high rate still, he just needs to improve other things. watch whiteside though, he has a talented game too—despite being raw.

Idea
Lakers need a PG, and have been inquiring about Hinrich.
Sixers want to dump Dalembert and get some expiring money, as well as lower payroll.
Kings need a defensive-minded center.
Kings get Dalembert and Shannon Brown
Lakers get Beno Udrih and Royal Ivey
Sixers get Nocioni and Adam Morrison
Kings do it because they get out from two long-term deals and get a big man who will be expiring next year and a young guard with upside.
Lakers do it because they deal two relatively useless pieces for a very useful third guard that can play both guard positions.
Sixers do it because it saves them about $1 mil this year and about $5 mil next year, and then Nocioni’s deal is cheaper in 2011-2012 (around $6.65 mil) when he’ll be expiring.
This deal also works with the Lakers keeping Brown and the Kings taking Ivey instead, but I chose to do it this way. Either way works.

I think this might work:
Bulls Trade: TT & Hinrich
Kings Trade: K9, Noc, Beno
[Redacted] Trades: The Mustache
Bulls Get: K9-Noc
Kings Get: TT-Hinrich-The Mustache
[Redacted] Get: Beno
Beno would be an upgrade/wash to Fisher… without giving up Fisher (who will probably sign with the [Redacted] For the minimum over the summer anyway. We get to see the Mustache for a couple months before the season ends.

by Widowwolf on Feb 1, 2010 2:47 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
This one makes sense for all four teams if we're assuming Philly's priority is to reduce salary and get out of Dalembert's contract
They could cut even more salary by letting the Lakers keep Brown, or having Brown go the Bulls or something.
Kings do it for the reasons in the previous scenario…Pargo isn’t young like Brown, but he’s a bench shooter, something we sorely lack.
Sixers do it to save a little cash this year and a lot of cash next year.
Bulls do it because they get a useful player for literally nothing; they just have to take on his contract.
Lakers do it because they need a PG.
If you think it’s unlikely just due to the fact that there are four teams involved, stranger things have happened. It makes sense.

it's not that I dislike Dalembert but even if you make the trade reasonable i really doubt the 76ers are going to move him without including brand in the deal
I think i have mentioned it about 3 other places on this website but i think people are not factoring in the Haiti stuff enough. I personally think that made it almost impossible for the 76ers to trade him, plus there were already problems to begin with because their only other big speights has had some private and public spats with brand

It finally occured to me why I check this site out way to many times throughout the day while I am playing with my scrotum at work. I keep waiting for the moment when the site pops up and in a big purple highlighted paragraph as reported by Sam A. of the Bee the Kings made a fu…n trade to improve the team now, or for the future or cut salary or did something because the suckiness is getting old.
One month ago before every game I would say the Kings can win this game. Now, I am beginning to feel like I did last year with dumbass Natt running the show.

Geez
Just because someone has name value and a contract doesn’t they will play up to that contract
So no Ray Allen, Okafor, Heinrich for me, Dalembert does not excite me, a one dimensional shot blocker and is expensive, Chandler just seems over rated to me, was good playing with Paul but that is a reflection on Paul rather than Chandlers own talents. I’d be really reluctant to take on a big contract really

Emeka, Collison, Mo Pete, and D. Songalia for Martin, Beno, May, and Hilton (will have a wait a few days before it is 30 days to send his butt back). We get our center and a back up defensive point guard in Collison. They get some cap relief and someone to play point in Beno. We then can send KT and either Mo Pete or Noce somewhere before the deadline.
Let me check my weed supplier. Full of seeds.

not really a certain trade.
i think the kings should go after andrew bynum, regardless of his huge salary
i think he would be as useful (or even more useful) than any FA we could get this offseason or next (yes that includes bosh)
bynum is a perfect fit with hawes or thompson, as bynum can easily protect our paint which a bosh, boozer, or stoudemire cannot do
also, bynum looks to me like he is becoming a player like shaq was in his prime on the offensive end…without hogging the ball to do so

LO- You gave away 3 main pieces, for an injured guy, an expiring and a good center.
Blake hasn’t even played an NBA game and you wanna give away JT for him basically.
Gordon: 16.7 2.9 .356
Kmart: 21.9 2.9 .402
hmmm no contest there
I could see K9 and Donte for Kaman but the rest hell no! Or if they want to get under cap add in some additional pieces

That's crazy talk
I’d take that deal in a heartbeat. But it’s way lopsided in favor of the Kings, thus not realistic.
You can’t really compare Gordon to KMart, since Gordon just turned 21 (and is averaging nearly 17 points per game). You should probably compare Gordon to KMart’s season at age 21.
Add in Griffin and Kaman, and this would be the biggest no-brainer in the history of mankind IMO.

Agreed
Even without Kaman in the mix, you’re talking about the Clips trading away their last two lottery picks. Griffin would still be the top-rated big in this year’s draft, and Gordon keeps getting better and better (Gordon is also about $7 million cheaper than Martin annually). And what do the Clips get in return? A guy whose injuries make Blake Griffin look like Lou Gherig, and a couple of prospects that notch way below Griffith and Martin.
Call Sterling, convince him, and pull the trigger.

Kings-Celtics
Kings deal:
Martin, Nocioni, Armstrong, May
Celtics deal:
Allen, Perkins, Walker
Why for the Kings – Free up a ton of money for a FA splash while getting the interior defensive presence we’ve been looking for.
Why of the Celtics – They get a bona fide replacement to Allen who’s younger, cheaper and locked up. Nocioni adds depth at the forward(a need) and HA and May replace some back-up minutes now found with Perkins exiting. Rasheed now starts at the 5.

Knicks/Kings/Bulls
Hughes is not happy, and it looks like the Knicks are looking to deal so lets make a deal
Bulls want to rid themselves of long term contract and probably get Noc back.and rumors they would be willing to ship Deng.Lets make a deal
Kings desperately need a right now Starting C, Back up PF and for those of you out there(Not me) who want to sell Kmart high(And not in the B.Miller way)..lets make a deal
Knicks get Kmart, L.Deng and May (Great start for building a new team next year)
Bulls get Noc, K9, HA and Sergio (Noc and EC)
Kings get TT, Salmons, Hughes and Lee(with a pre-signed extension)
Yes we take back on Salmons, but we get Hughes which is a big EC(13.6), But we also get that Great big white center we need and a 1/2 year look at TT as backup to JT (Or starter if JT doesn’t get out of his funk)
Chicago loses 2 of their “Big Contracts” In Salmons and Deng and picks up Noc and bang they have 40M+ in EC’s to start dealing now or for FA next year.
New York gets rid of Hughes, gets Kmart and Deng in trade which is huge for them and their fans, get long term talent to build around and they still got plenty of FA money or trade bait (Harrington I am looking at you)

David Lee is having a career year
21.7 PER / 20 points / 11.5 rebs / 3.5 asst / 55% shooting. He has taken his game to another level. Probably should have made all-star team. Knicks will probably give him big deal this off-season, or sign and trade. But no way they deal him now.
Did we look desperate for a starting C last game v. Nuggets? Hawes was filling it up. Now if you say we are desperate for a starting PF, I agree with you. Which is what David Lee is.

If Hawes is playign bad, you put JT as PF and Lee as C
If JT is playing bad you put Lee in at PF, and Hawes at C

Donte/Casspi

I posted this elsewhere
but it is such a perfect deal, it must be re-posted!!! Geoff could be trolling these boards :)
At first I was thinking only from SAC perspective, and desire to unload JT, and add big man talent, which this all does. But I think it is a win-win trade for both teams. JT could effective cleaning up the boards around Howard. He would never be asked to post up, which is a good thing. Nocionni would be effective returning to Eastern conference backing up Vince Carter.
To SAC
Marcin Gortat – C (Age 25)
Brandon Bass – F (Age 24)
Adonal Foyle
To ORL
JT (Age 23)
Nocionni (Age 30)
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yj8zpxa
The Magic over-value their assets so they probably say ‘no’ to this deal. But fact is Gortat and Bass are wallowing on end of bench, whereas they could get two guys in this deal who could play effective spot minutes. From our end, we improve our rebounding and skill level immediately. And we solidify our center position for 5+ years.

I don't think they give up both of their back-up bigs

Yep
Ryan Anderson gets more PT over Bass and Gortat @ PF. While relinquishing two back-ups, they would add a new back-up in JT who can swing from PF and C. And Noce can swing to PF depending on match-ups.

I don't understand the "desire to unload JT"
I don’t hate the trade, but a month or two of disappointing play doesn’t mean its time to give up on JT.
Also, I don’t love the idea of paying market value for role players for a young team. On the other hand, you are getting rid of Noc, which balances it some. If this was the only way to get rid of Noc, I wouldn’t be heartbroken, but I’d want to explore every opportunity for doing so before I sent off JT to get someone to take Noc from us.

result: Okafor, Jefferson, Casspi/Greene, Reddick, Evans
Here’s how to get there: Trade 1 with minny (kmart, armstrong for Jefferson). Trade 2 with Magic and Hornets (Magic get Posey and JT, Hornets get Bass, K-9 and Sergio, Kings get Reddick and Okafor) Magic probably lose Reddick next year for nothing and aren’t playing Bass…get Posey for the run this year (better fit than Vinsanity has turned out) and replace Bass with JT. Hornets dump two big contracts and get Bass to run with West plus a bunch of expirings.
Jefferson’s defense issues solved by Okafor…Okafor’s offense issues solved by Jefferson… get “pure” shooter to run with Evans…

Three trades, can be done individually or all together...
Trade with Philly:
K9 and Nocioni for Brand and Jrue. Philly wants to get out of Brand’s contract, and we can gamble that Brand was just having an off year, or is in a system that he doesn’t play well in. We also get Jrue, and get rid of Nocioni’s contract.
Trade with Orlando:
Beno and JT for Gortat, Reddick, and Foyle. Orlando gets JT to replace Gortat, and a point guard that can back up injury prone Jameer Nelson. We get rid of Beno’s contract, get a starting center that can rebound, and get a shooter to back up K-mart.
Trade with Warriors:
Garcia, May, and Spencer for Magette and Randolph. The warriors want to get rid of magette’s contract, and may give up randolph to do it. We give them garcia and spencer, both of whom may excel in Nellie’s system. Magette us playing well this year, and we need a more consistent scorer at SF.
Our new lineup:
Evans/Holiday/Rodriguez
Martin/Reddick/Udoka
Magette/Casspi/Greene
Brand/Randolph/Brockman
Gortat/Armstrong/Foyle
Basically we are giving up some role players with long contracts (Nocioni, Beno, Garcia) for some starters with long contracts (Brand, Magette, Gortat). We also lose JT and Spencer, but get back Jrue and Randolph in return. With Gortat locked in as our starter for a few years, we can take a chance in the draft on a big man like Demarcus Cousins.
Other slight changes could include:
-swap Armstong for Hawes if golden state wants an expiring.
-replace jrue with mareese speights
-replace randolph with brandon wright

Smaller scale trade that helps both teams IMO. Brandon Bass, Anthony Johnson, & Ryan Anderson for Andres Nocioni & Jon Brockman. Noce fits Orlandos system perfect. Brockman gives them another rebounding machine when Howard is out of the game. Anthony Johnson has no roll playing behind Nelson & J-Will. We can wave Johnson. Bring in the hometown kid who is also a young piece to our rebiuld. Brandon Bass is a young PF who doesn’t fit Orlandos system & cuts Nocioni’s deal by $3+ mil. This also doesn’t include Martin or cripples our future. Actually saves us a few mil.

OK - let's get asinine...
Everyone is high on trading Martin, so let’s for a moment assume that Petrie is has his doubts about the Evans/Martin combo himself. Here you go:
To Philly: Martin, Thomas & Udrih
To Sacramento: Iguodala, Dalembert
Why Sac does it: Petrie doubts that Martin/Evans can work, Dalembert stabilizes the frontcourt, Iguodala is very durable and a super athlete, Evans/Iguodala is quite possibly the biggest, most athletic backcourt in the league
Why Philly does it: Cap relief from K9, get a cheaper, shorter (1 year) contract in Martin than Iguodala, earlier ability to draw free agents

I hate Iggy(as a player)
I just think he is overrated, overpaid, & overconfident. He recently called himself one of the top players in the game when asked about the trade rumors. He just doesn’t impress me. Tell me the difference between him & Josh Howard. Don’t worry I’ll wait. There is none. Atleast Howard has an expiring contract. I think we need a shooter next to Reke who is a decent defender & can handle the ball from time to time. Sounds like Martin to me when his game comes back. I know Kevin has a bad reputation when it comes to defense but he hasn’t seemed bad since he came back.

i could care less about the over confidence
I love me some iggy. And i think he is a better defender than josh. I think he can also defend the 2 gard spot and josh can’t. I also think he is better at moving the ball on offense. I also think he is a ball hawk (i dunno if that is necessarily always good defense so i like to think of it as seperate). He can also dunk like a crazy man. He is also much much more healthy. For the sake of argument...
Statistically speaking, Iguodala is a markedly better player than Howard. Over the last 2 1/2 years, Iguodala is averaging about 18.5 pts, 6 boards, 5 assists and 2 steals a game. He has also been extremely durable, playing in every game the last two seasons and (I think) every game this season. By comparison, over the same period, Howard is averaging about 16 ppg, 5 boards, 2 assists and 1 steal per game. Iguodala, while not an elite player, is pretty damn good and significantly better than Howard, however…
I threw out that trade idea for the purpose of trying to come up with a viable deal if Petrie didn’t believe that Martin/Evans could work. To me, that deal would give the Kings a more athletic, more durable backcourt than they have now. Healthy, Martin is a far superior shooter to Iguodala, but he is a different type of player altogether. Speed is a very good athlete, but Iggy is a bit of a freak. Iggy is the better defender and probably the better passer, simply based on the stats. No doubt, he is overpaid, but not obscenly. Most importantly though, this is the Asinine Trade Thread, and unless one of us is secretly Geoff Petrie blogging, none of this matters at all…

But as Allbenji said, you need a shooter next to Tyreke, not another dribbler /penetrator. Not a good fit IMO.

That would be my reservation as well...
which is why I would be on the fence about this trade. The issue to me isn’t that I feel Martin/Evans won’t eventually gel offensively, because once Martin starts knocking down his normal looks, they will. The questions to me are more whether Kevin will continue to have durability issues and whether he will improve enough defensively. On both counts, his slight frame makes those questions legitimate, while those are not worries with Iggy. Trading one skill set for another…
I do like the deal though because it brought back Dalembert, who I believe would fit well with the Kings, and also helped move Beno. And while I like Beno, I think that between Sergio and Garcia, there will be such a minute crunch that someone has to go, and with that contract, Beno is the guy…

Iggy is in the same situation as Martin fan-wise
For several years he has been the best player on his team. He’s not quite a franchise / All-Star player (and doesn’t get paid like one) – and he takes a lot of unfair blame for being only ‘’very good’ on a bad team.
But not a good fit next to Tyreke.

DET-SAC Trade Idea
SAC gets Tayshaun Prince
DET gets Andres Nocioni and Hilton Armstrong.
Why Sac does this: Defensive big man, anyone? Prince can get the LBJ’s, the Melo’s and the Wades as well as the Pau Gasols, the Dirk Noqitzkis and the Garnett’s.
Why Det does this: Rebuilding, anyone? Dumars’ crew is strangely disjointed and Noce and Armstrong seem like they might fit in nicely with Ben Wallace, Charlie Villanueva, Jonas Jrebko, Chris Wilcox and Jason Maxiell.
There can only be one Noce!

Cavs aren’t trading their starting power forward (and one of Lebron’s favorite players) plus another rotation player for two guys that wouldn’t be able to get off their bench.
by Charlieb on Feb 6, 2010 12:07 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Not exactly asinine, but probably pointless
Kings get:
Steve Blake, Jeff Pendergraph, Patty Mills
Blazers get:
Beno Udrih
Why we trade for Steve Blake (and the others):
Blake expires for 4 Mil this offseason
Pendergraph plays with Brock-like intensity and can board with the best of them when he plays (and we did draft him and then trade him so it would make for a nice awkward reuinion)
Mills was intriguing in college and maybe could be a servicable rotation player one day, but we could stick him in the D-League (or however that works)
This is also contingent on other trades, but Portland would be free to explore trading AM24 and still be set at point and let’s be real: Beno is good but the contract is terrible and he’s not going to be a difference maker on this team going forward.
I’d rather use some of our cap space to resign our young guys early before they hit the open market and someone else can pay them more; we have a tough enough time getting impact FA’s to come to SAC so it’s better to build from within. Hopefully Pendergraph and Brockman’s D compliments Shock and Hawes’s O and in a few years they form a formidable frontcourt rotation.
Or this is just a really pointless trade with the biggest name being Steve Blake, either one.

A lot of teams passed up Blair because of his knees
and his rotound figure; they were wrong but they didn’t know it at the time. I don’t think that means Portland’s high on Pendergraph, but I don’t read “Blazer’s Edge” either, so who knows.
by jswaa on Feb 5, 2010 11:07 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Too early to say that
People passed on Blair and his knees because of concerns about his LONG-TERM ability. I don’t think anyone was concerned that he wouldn’t be able to be good THIS year. If Blair is still playing and playing well in five years, THEN they’ll look wrong. If he’s out of the league in four, they’ll look pretty smart.

Of course this trade would be contingent on...
…Portland trading Andre Miller; maybe his clashing with McMillan motivates them to send him packing to another team. I have no idea if they like Beno or not but I’d think they’d have to, since he wont get in Roy/Bayless’ way. Beno’s salary is also more palatable than Andre’s for them, as well.
If they were able to turn around and trade Miller, then they’d obviously look for a young big like Pendergraph to get back, so who knows.
Too bad Oden and Pryzbilla had to get hurt or we could just pluck Pendergraph from them, but they do kind of need the frontcourt help now.
In case it isn’t obvious, I may or may not have a man-crush on Jeff Pendergraph. Just sayin…

This is WAY crazy....but F it!
4 Team Deal: Kings, Nets, Celtics, and Bulls.
This trade DOES work in the machine…
w/out lee:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yg4p9yh%22%20target=%22new%22
w/Courtney Lee:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yfqdyhw
IMO, the only player who is at all untouchable is Brook Lopez. Below I broke it down by team and gave the reasons for why I think the deal works for that team.
Sacramento Kings:
Kings give up 7 players: SG) Kevin Martin, C) Jason Thompson, F) Andres Nocioni, G) Beno Udrih, F) John Brockman, G) Sergio Rodriguez, and PF) Kenny Thomas.
The Kings get 5 players for the 7 they give up: C) Brook Lopez, SG) Ray Allen, G) Kirk Hinrich, C) Jerome James, and PF) Brian Scalabrine.
They do it because:
For the Kings this makes sense on many levels. 3 of the 5 players are expiring which would give the Kings $28.7M in expiring contracts for next off-season. Yes, we take a hit on Hinrich’s contract ($3M more than Beno), but we get comparable production. Obviously, Brook Lopez would be the reason for this trade. The addition of Lopez would allow Spencer Hawes to slide to the 4. The departure of Noc would make room for both Greene and Casspi. Garcia would get most of his minutes at the backup 2.
SO, the new Starting 5 would be: 1)Evans, 2)Allen (until the off-season), 3)Greene, 4)Hawes, 5)Lopez
Bench: Hinrich, Garcia, Casspi, Udoka, May, Scalabrine, James, and Armstrong.
This can be altered with pieces going to different places and also will work with all the same pieces but w/NJ also sending Courtney Lee to Boston. It also allows the Kings to keep the draft picks.
New Jersey Nets:
Nets give up 4 players: C) Brook Lopez, SF) Trenton Hassell, C) Tony Battie, and SF) Bobby Simmons.
The Nets get 4 players for the 5 they give up: SG) Kevin Martin, C) Jason Thompson, C) Brad Miller, and G/F) John Salmons.
They do it because:
The Nets are the team I think would have trouble with this trade because with bigs like Howard, KG, Perkins, Beasley, etc. in the East, Lopez is rightfully coveted.
However, I DO believe NJ would have to take a LONG-HARD-LOOK at this deal, if it was offered because they would be getting JT for him while putting Kevin Martin in the backcourt with Devin Harris. Also to soften the blow, they would get a rental of Brad Miller and a year of Salmons at the 3. This helps because Martin, Thompson, Miller, and Salmons are familiar with each other from being here in Sac.
New Starting 5: 1)Harris, 2)Martin, 3)Yi Jianlian/Salmons, 4)Thompson, and 5)Miller.
If anyone, this would be the team to kill this deal.
Boston Celtics:
Celtics give up 2 players: SG) Ray Allen and PF) Brian Scalabrine.
The Celtics get 4 players for the 2 they give up: PF) Tyrus Thomas, F) Andres Nocioni, F) John Brockman, and G) Sergio Rodriguez. (And possibly Courtney Lee but I doubt it)
They do it because:
Boston would benefit by eliminating Ray Allen’s contract while addressing almost every need they have immediately. It solves the injury issues up front and once Wallace and Garnett return healthy, they will have the deepest frontcourt in the NBA between KG, Sheed, Perkins, Tyrus Thomas, Nocioni, Brockman, Glen Davis, and Shelden Williams.
People say they want a comparable replacement for Ray Allen, but honestly Marquis Daniels is good enough to start for them.
New Starting 5: 1)Rondo, 2)Daniels/(Lee), 3)Nocioni, 4)Thomas, 5)Perkins. And yeah, that’s before Sheed and KG get back.
Chicago Bulls:
Bulls give up 5 players: PF) Tyrus Thomas, G) Kirk Hinrich, C) Brad Miller, G/F) John Salmons, and C) Jerome James.
The Bulls get 5 players for the 5 they give up: G) Beno Udrih, SF) Bobby Simmons, PF) Kenny Thomas, C) Tony Battie, and SF) Trenton Hassell.
They do it because:
So we’ve all read about the Tyrus Thomas situation in Chicago. This deal allows the Bulls to get rid of him AND swap Hinrich for a better player (Udrih) for less money.
If that wasn’t reason enough, they gain $30.8M worth of expiring contracts! Basically, they get the cap space needed to go after the pieces they want to put around Rose, Deng, and Noah. (They could want Sean May included)
New Starting 5: 1)Udrih, 2)Rose, 3)Deng, 4)Thomas (woof!), 5)Noah
I know this has no chance of getting done, if for no other reason, because we are the Kings and things don’t normally go like that for us. But it does make all teams involved better.
So yeah, go ahead and shred me for this, lol!!!

free up the $$$ we shouldn’t have spent on Beno & Nocioni in the first place?
Are you in the “Tyreke is a PG” club? For me, K-Marts gotta go so we can go for a true PG to compliment Reke’.
IMO, having $$$ committed only to the players we want to keep (and then hinrich) and having the free space to do whatever GP wants would be a good thing.
So what this boils down to really, is that YOU don’t believe a “Franchise Center” (Lopez) to go in the starting 5 w/Evans, Greene, and Hawes all while dumping most of you’re bad contracts isn’t worth giving up Martin, and a center we’re not sold on being a star (JT), and Brockman??? Are you really crying over swapping 3 years of Beno & Sergio for 3yrs of Hinrich?

Kings trade John Wall (yea, I said it!) & Spencer Hawes for Derrick Favors & Brook Lopez
If kings land #1 pick, they trade it to the Nets in a package with Spencer for their pick and Brook Lopez.
Nets then are free to trade Devin Harris for a swingman or another big, or in a huge deal to utilize their capspace and bring some ballers.
