All-Star Weekend Fun Post!

Nba-2010-all-star-logo_medium

With All-Star Weekend upon us, I thought it would be fun to have a contest of sorts for the weekend and to keep things mildly more interesting for those who could care less or won't watch.

The Contest is a simple prediction contest, guessing the winners of the Rookie-Sophomore Game, All-Star Game, the Slam Dunk-in, H.O.R.S.E., the Shooting Stars Competition, the skills competition, the 3-Point contest, the Slam Dunk contest and the MVPs for both the Rookie-Soph game and the All-Star Game.

The Person who gets the most correctly shall be declared the Winner and I will personally buy a pair of $10 Kings tickets as the prize for the winner to a Kings home game of their choice.

Bonus: If anyone can run the gauntlet and get everything right, I'll throw in an StR shirt as well.  If the Winner lives out of the country, this will be the prize instead of the tickets.

After the jump, the contests and competitors for your information.  List your predictions in the comments below!

Rookies are going to get it up the wazoo

I can’t think of one rookie that can stop Beasley, Lopez, or Gasol in the post. Like we said over and over again, this was a point guard draft and it’ll show.

It's not about winning the competition really, just about having fun.

CWebb is the best personalty, and Reke is the most marketable. Can’t knock either choice in my opinion. I’d definitely rather see those two joking around and tryin to hit shots than Omri and Barry, despite the lower aptitude for success.

I'm tentatively changing my dunk contest pick

Nate Robinson’s been hurt. I think he’ll pull out and Lebron James will take his place, in which case he wins. If this doesn’t happen my pick is still Brown.

If this does happen the NBA better get it right and have him come in as a surprise entrant with Reggie Miller yelling “Oh my God, that’s Lebron’s music!” WWE-style.

With the exception of the dunk contest, you have been right on target.

Are you the only one that picked Pierce?!

Considering he did awful in the last one, it figures he would either redeem himself or shoot terribly again. Unfortunately, I went with the latter.

and i thought

I was the only one who took Mayo for MVP. Now i don’t feel so bad!

by Dub_TC on Feb 12, 2010 10:14 PM PST reply actions

I'm too late for the rookie game but for honorable mention:

Three-point shootout: Curry close over Chauncey, Cook and Frye get eliminated early, no one hits their shots very well, and we all realize they should have brought back Peja

Dunk contest: Wallace over Brown, Derozan is incredibly awful and uncreative

Skills: Rose barely over Williams, Nash is left in the dust

Shooting Stars: Team Lakers by far, Kings do not do that bad

H-O-R-S-E: Durant by a landslide, Casspi shows lack of creativity while Rondo just misses

All-Star Game: West by 8, LeBron is still MVP, West bench outscores East bench by a ton

by White Brocklate on Feb 12, 2010 10:58 PM PST reply actions

Congratulations to everyone who voted for the rookies to win and Tyreke as the MVP.

It took a lot of courage, considering so many people were favoring the LARGE sophomores. Goes to show that size isn’t everything. Speed and teamwork counted for a lot for the rookies.

To be the best, you have to do your best. Otherwise, you are only second-rate.

I'm not doin so good other than the Tyreke MVP pick

but my biggest mistake was not thanking Aykis for the contest. Thanks. Very fun and very generous of you.
