'm not sure Donald Sterling is a human being. He had to have been manufactured by someone, possibly David Stern, so that one team could solely just make profit for the NBA while doing nothing good for themselves. -- Aykis 16

Kevin Martin isn’t being traded. I win nothing.

The group was going good

But Martin should have wanted to be a part of trying to win this game. And needless to say, the Kings could have used his FT shooting.

aggreed...

Similar incident involved Jonny Flynn not going in for Ramon Sessions a few days ago…and Rambis praised Jonny for putting the team first.

by getPGwithbounce on Feb 17, 2010 2:28 AM PST up reply actions

And the Kings lost without Martin on the floor...

Maybe that has something to do with it? Martin goes in when things are going well, Kev gets slammed for screwing up the chemistry again when the Kings lose… this way, at least for this game… Kev was not the problem when the Kings lose another close one.

Yeah, Napes is going to have a field day.

I was wondering why no Martin but in his defense, the team on the floor was playing really well and he had taken an absolute beating. Garnett is one dirty pick setting mo-fo.

I doubt it.

I’m just curious why PW mentioned that it was “Kevin’” decision.

he's an honest guy

and it would have been worse to lie about it or hem & haw

but I would really really rather kevin had not done this, both b/c it is grist for the bashers AND b/c it was not the right thing to do

and pw should have found a nice way to say um, no, i’m the coach, get in there

over on the celtics blog they think they can get noc kevin AND a first round pick from us for the corpse of ray allen

just who do they think we are clearing cap space to get? getting “out from under” kmarts contract (even if it means getting rid of noc) is not smart unless we get a high quality big back , and I haven’t seen anything that makes sense

these celts fans that think they are getting monta or kevin for ray allen are smoking some good stuff

but hey rumor has it that the dubs are willing to sell biedrins for expirings to save some cash so who knows? (petrie, do that btw, thanks)

by lchristmas on Feb 17, 2010 12:33 AM PST via mobile up reply actions

Well I don't think it's that simple. It rarely is.

The Kings aren’t giving away Kevin Martin for nothing despite a poor end to the game.

No mistakes in the tango, Donna. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....

by pookeyguru on Feb 17, 2010 12:49 AM PST up reply actions

oh i agree

that was my point, to clarify the “do it petrie” was regarding the biedrins move – not any lopsided kevin trade

this team doesn’t need cap space – we need players under team control with reasonable contracts that fill our need (young athletic bigs)

of course, those players generally aren’t available so its probably plan b – stand pat and try to address that need either through the draft, free agency or an offseason trade – and hope for improvement from the young bigs we have

all of which I am fine with

by lchristmas on Feb 17, 2010 12:59 AM PST via mobile up reply actions

I've been screaming th eBiedrins idea for a day or two now.

He is the perfect fit- affordable, young, locked up big who rebounds and blocks shots. A three big rotation of JT, Hawes and Andris would make me cry.

if the dubs are really desperate/dumb enough to give him away they should choose their norcal neighbors

he’s locked up for 4 more years @ “only” 9 mil per… still only 23 years old

Only downsides I can think of

are his injuries and free throw woes.

And the contract

if you want to get fussy. Especially if you think players are going to get cheaper and $9 million a year for a role player, even a big, is too much.

That is interesting...

That does not speak well for either PW or Kevin, if it was “Kevin’s decision.”

I don't think Westy had much of a choice here.

Sorry folks, my bad, I forgot Kev was sitting over there with his career 80 something free throw shooting percentage while these young guys built a brick house.

If Westphal said Martin was hurting then he’s soft. If Westphal takes the blame then he’s an idiot or phasing Martin out. I don’t really see anything that works here. Martin should have gone in and fought the good fight even if that meant losing or taking a few more licks.

Hopefully it isn't Martin saying go ahead and deal me.

I doubt it, its probably as simple as Martin thought they had good match-ups but you have to wonder in these situations. Too bad the Kings aren’t playing an east coast 4:30 start tomorrow because this is going to get nasty. Maybe Petie can distract everyone by making a nice deal.

i think kevin thought he was doing the right thing

and I think he was wrong

I think pw was wrong for going along with it (but he’s in a tough spot bc what do you do when a player says he doesn’t want to play)

I don’t see any alterior motives here, just a snafu – it happens – and if kevin is traded (which won’t happen) this will not have anything to do with why

Just out of curiosity

Does STR have their own facebook page?
Asking because of the link on top, unless that’s for the whole SBnation.

Anyways, since I can’t post gifs, here’s the cliff notes to my post:
