To be the best, you have to do your best. Otherwise, you are only second-rate.

We're over 50 games in...

and you still don’t know people aren’t supposed to post links and where to find them?

What we've got here is, failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach.

Thank God it's Al McCoy.

No mistakes in the tango, Donna. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....

I'm not sure Donald Sterling is a human being. He had to have been manufactured by someone, possibly David Stern, so that one team could solely just make profit for the NBA while doing nothing good for themselves. -- Aykis 16

Landry, Evans, Beno Kickass.

Richardson doing the “hit” part of his “hit or miss” repertoire.

by sdfd on Feb 21, 2010 6:18 PM PST up reply actions

Landry started off well hitting jumpers, attacking the paint and shooting some freethrows. Beno carried the scoring load for a while, hitting a series of jumpers. Tyreke has 3 fouls in the first half. Uhhh, Spencer and Jason Thompson are finally playing great at the same time. Dominic McGuire has played some good minutes, and Donte Greene is 22 today and in double digits. Garcia has yet to play. Stoudamire and Jason Richardson are killing us early on.

well

he is hurting Houston right now. I don’t know if he isn’t fully healthy, but his shot has been off since coming back from the injury. Since he is a negative on the defensive end, he needs to shoot efficiently to be effective. Right now he’s not doing that. He may just need to offseason to fully heal.

by These Refs Suck on Feb 21, 2010 7:05 PM PST up reply actions

Explain trollish

Most of the conversation around here is that JT and Hawes need to get better. They are as good or better than Frye is right now – and Frye has 4.5 years under his belt.

Now, if I said “You’re wrong – blow me!”, that might make me a troll. But when I take a counter stance, with statistics and without emotion, that just makes me someone that may not agree with you.

Regarding B.Lopez, I’d take him in a heartbeat, so I’m not sure what you’re driving at there.

He went 2-5 against the clips.

of those 3 misses, one was an open 3, one was an open lay up which he air balled and only one was a contested 3.

Then some of these passes won’t just roll past the player while he watches it go out of bounds. Plus, they might want to steal the ball once in a while.

Monta is the defensive focus. I think if the voting were held today, Curry would finish 3rd behind Jennings. East coast bias, and Curry hasn’t been talked about much. Not saying I agree with that ranking, I just don’t think the race is that up for grabs atm.

I was discussing who would win ROY

not who is better. Who is “better” is a whole different kettle – and cannot be assessed yet based on evidence (which is obviously complicated by their being such different players).

ROY, however, we can speak of intelligently. And the stats have already been posted. Right now they are quite close – and the current trend has Curry improving and Tyreke holding steady.

Curry is a gifted rookie who has been playing very well as late.

He may get a second “Rookie of the Month” award. Despite this, taken as a whole, Tyreke still leads the ROY. Tyreke was MVP at the All-Star game. He didn’t share that with Curry.

Curry is going to have a hard time catching Evans

Tyreke = 20.2 p, 4.9 r, 5.3 a, 1.5s, 2.9 to
Curry = 14.9 p, 4.0 r, 5.2 a, 1.9 s, 2.8 to.

There are 25-17 games left. Curry is going to need to bury Evans over that stretch if he is to catch him.

Uhhhh...

As I said earlier, the only difference is in points. And if you consider Curry leads in steals, 3-point % and free throw percentage – it makes the case even more difficult.

Further, f you compared their stats from the last month or so, the stats aren’t even close – Curry would win by a landslide. Hence my original comment.

Respectfully disagree

If you look at the stats over the last month and a half, Curry has been a little better. During the first month and a half, Evans was a lot better. Hence Evans’ lead in most of the stats.

Curry is playing better than any of the rookies right now. But the award is given for the 82 game schedule. Otherwise, you might as well give it to Darren Collison.

And the only thing that seperates their season stats

is 5 PPG. Should Curry’s current performance continue, that gap will narrow – along with changes to the rest of the stat sheet.

The only difference between us that I can discern is that I believe you are overstating the importance of PPG. As I said earlier, Ty takes more shots.

by Slam_Dunk on Feb 21, 2010 8:08 PM PST up reply actions

3 and a half shots a game

is also a lot. Add in that he leads Ty by 10% in FT shooting, and nearly doubles his 3P% – and you have the makings of a close race. Granted, assuming that the PPG gap does close at least by a point or 2.

That's cool!

I know the feeling of being gang-rushed on here. If it makes you feel any better, you are right. The ROY race may be closer than a lot of people anticipated. I made the same argument myself a few days ago, but got “gang-rushed” by a few people on here who didn’t want to hear it.

Truce.

With all due respect,

if you have an opinion that a majority agrees with, you get affirmation. When you have an opinion that a majority disagrees with, you get a lot of opposing views. I don’t see that as “gang-rushed” – I see that as you having a minority opinion that many disagree with. That doesn’t make you wrong, of course. But you can’t tell me that you didn’t anticipate that a few people would have an opposing response to your assertion.
