Would you take the Martin Landry trade back?
I am just curious as to your opinion on Martin. Even if you wouldn't take the trade back do you think Martin is worth the rest of his contract?
Do you feel his injuries were an issue, or was he in deed a 25 ppg player trapped in the wrong system. Will him beeing with the Rockets turn they're team around? Or did the Kings get the better of the deal by clearing cap space?

I would take it back

I think now that it needed to be done. If he wasn’t traded, you’d have all that drama, plus the Hawes drama … it wouldn’t be good.
Plus, I’m starting to like Landry. He’s already the best low post guy on the team.
Give me a break
It’s been 3 games already. Breathe Baby Breathe.

I'm not sure Donald Sterling is a human being. He had to have been manufactured by someone, possibly David Stern, so that one team could solely just make profit for the NBA while doing nothing good for themselves. -- Aykis 16

And taken the LeBron deal instead.

Martin’s contract is fair, and the Rockets definitely got more out of the trade, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad deal for the Kings.
I don’t think of it as zero-sum. so how much Martin helps the Rockets doesn’t change that the trade benefits the kings. The only thing that should matter to Kings fans is Landry and how the cap space is used.
I would have redone it with another trade partner
if the rumors were true that other suitors would have returned a Landry caliber player while absorbing a bad contract
Screw you Knicks! LBJ to the Kings!!!
I'm happy with it
I like Landry, I think I’ll like Dorsey, Kings management made the move so they can’t have hated it (right?)…most importantly though, I like Kevin Martin and he looked ecstatic about the whole thing. I have no idea if this will ultimately hurt or hinder the Kings but I’m glad he got a fresh start somewhere that he’ll be happy.
My opinion & it is just that an opinion
The good
1. Martin needed to go he wasn’t happy
2. We got Carl Landry a good low post scorer
3. Landry is a true bargain
4. Martin is injured a lot
5. We got out of Martin’s contract/capspace
6. Martin was a bad defender
7. We dumped Martin before he became harder to dump like Web/Bib/Miller
8. Dorsey looks like a beast
The bad
1. We didn’t get the best possible deal(This should have been 1,2,3,4, & 5)
2. We didn’t dump Nocioni
3. We didn’t dump Beno
3. We didn’t aquire a good rebounder
4.We didn’t get a low post defender
5. We have a gaping hole at 2 gaurd
6. A 6’11" Greene is now our 2 gaurd
7 We didn’t get any draft picks
8.Our team still sucks just as bad
9. Landry could command a high salary
10. We now have to figure out if we are building our front court around a 27 year old Landry or JT or Hawes
11.The fear of a mid-level type Petrie dud
12. We didn’t get T-Mac. To be fair I didn’t want T-Mac but it looks like he can still play a little & could have made the rest of the season easier to watch. Most importantly the only player he would have taken minutes from at the 2 is Garcia who doesn’t look ready.
13. Larry Hughes(I could have easily made this 13,14,15, & 16
14. We gave Sergio to NY & got nothing in return. He might turn out to be NY’s PG for years to come possibly through the Lebron/Wade/JJ & Bosh/Amare years. I’m not saying I wanted to keep Sergio but if Dantoni turns him into the next Steve Nash we will be known as the team that gave him away.
I love beating dead horses.
So....what was the best possible deal if we didn't get it?
Also, there is no gaping hole at 2 guard. Tyreke will be an all-star SG in 2012, if not next year.

All excellent points.
I think the key is, the team now has more options in the next few seasons than before.

Yeah From a rockets fan point
i would landry was my favorite player besides tmac
and dorsey could be very good asset in the future if he develops more of an offense game, but so far hes good now at defense, i like seeing him V.S. Dwight.
I call it the worst trade ever. i dont think it helps us at all, unless its the beginning of something this summer.
But overall SACTOWN got the very good end of the deal. two young post players, one is quick the other is very strong and has room to grow. and the rockets deal last summer for ARTEST and GREENE, sac got the better end of it in the long run. but sac has to develop him though just like dorsey.
The Artest deal netted us Casspi, too
Although you probably didn’t need to hear that…

I don't think Rox fans regret the Artest trade.
I’m thrilled GP got as much as he did for Artest.

yeah
for the short term he was good to watch
but in the long term he left for the lakers.
Either way. and yeah casspi is turning into a pretty good player
kinda reminds me of Budinger, but i would like to see how both of these players turn out in the next 3years.
Too early to tell
Ask again after the Kings have (or have not) utilized the extra cap space generated in this deal.
SACTOWN ROYALTY - Try our thick creamy shakes!
I'm fine with it
And if all hell continues to break loose and nobody fits together let Landry walk or sign and trade him over the summer. If the team is going to suck, at least suck on the cheap.

I am fine with the trade.
I am happy with Landry, but I don’t know if we made a “good” trade or a “bad” trade.

Landry is awesome. He is the type of guy every team needs, he is the type of player that will help us as we overall get better. If we resign him and make the playoffs in 2-3 years, he will be a major contributor.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.
Yes, I would. I am frustrated with this organization. Although GP does a fine job with draft picks. he is for the most part awful with trades. I like Laundry. And, I think the kings need an inside guy. However, this team had the assets to make a better trade than this. The Kings could have possibly acquired a big guy with out giving up Kevin. Or, possibly had received more for Kevin. In addition, the kings never tried to make the Evans martin back court work. When you have a guy that can sore the Kevin can, you try to make it work. All this crap about cap space and being able to sign other players will not happen. They are broke and did this for $$$$$ I am just about done being a king’s fan.
Oh, I wonder who the retread will start tonight !!!!

Bad deal for the Rockets at the moment
But I don’ think they made this deal for this year. It only makes sense in the context of Yao coming back and them playing for something significant next year. Although I doubt if Martin can deliver even in that scenario. The other pieces don’t really fit. Jeffries is a defensive player and Adelman won’t give Jordan Hill the time of day. Maybe the draft picks will save the deal for them.
The last Rockets game provides a good glimpse into the best the Rockets can hope for: insanely efficient scoring, no defense and a loss.
Meanwhile, the Kings traded a player who was unfortunately becoming a cancer (or a distraction at the least) and got a solid piece for their future that addresses their problems up front and their inability to close the deal in crunch time. The cap space just makes the deal that much sweeter.

Not cancer
Poor choice of words on my part. Kmart was unlucky and a bit jinxed, and a lot of that carried over to the ballclub. A change was in the best interests of both parties for a fresh start.

As a Rocket fan I think it was a fair deal
Carl Landry will be an all star for years to come. He’s a low post scorer and a great offensive rebounder. He’s going to improve with starter playing time. Sacramento fans will love him just as Houston fans have.
Kevin Martin fills a role that the Rocket’s needed.
We already love Landry.
