chemisty
this team has a lot of talent but no chemistry. if derrick favors is available take him.
seems like a good kid
I had questions about him early in the season, but I think he might be a good player for us if he is available.
These quote stand out:
Iman Shumpert recalls when Favors picked up his second foul at North Carolina. He expected him to be down about the call or having to sit.
“He came to the huddle saying ‘Man, I’m not giving up a layup,’ " Shumpert said. “His attitude is never about him having a bad game, it’s about how we’re [doing]. He’s never talking about himself, which is weird for me.”
When Favors arrived at Tech, projected as a one-and-done into the NBA, assistant coach John O’Conner asked him what he did best.
“Rebound,” he said.
“I was thinking ‘All right, I’ll take that,’ " O’Conner said. “And he was serious.”
Rebounding, Favors said, is how he always got to keep playing against older guys.
“Everybody always talks about scoring points,” Favors said. “I don’t really care about scoring points that much.”
So he’s a defensive minded, team-oriented, rebounding big man who doesn’t feel the need to score tons of a points? Sign me up!

Yeah the mental side of him is that he cares about his game and not hype. I wonder if that will translate once he gets to the NBA.
No mistakes in the tango, Donna. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....
I'm not sure Donald Sterling is a human being. He had to have been manufactured by someone, possibly David Stern, so that one team could solely just make profit for the NBA while doing nothing good for themselves. -- Aykis 16
Fuck Kobe.
I don't see what's wrong with giving Bobby a little experience before he starts to practise law.

Sounds like a perfect fit!
Foul trouble has limited his minutes and his productivity. So has inconsistent guard play.
Critics target Favors’ footwork, his defense, his jump shot.
Wait…I thought we already had this guy?

LOL pipe

Nice call, Pipe

Sounds like a great kid
also sounds like a project. I’m not sure I would really want a project right now to be honest. Maybe he needs another year like Blake Griffin. Like I’ve said before I don’t watch college ball so forgive me if I am inacurate but from the few things I’ve read he doesn’t sound like our big man savior.
I love beating dead horses.
Reading up a little on Cousins
It sounds like he has it all except the great attitude. I guess the only perfect, polished players are John Wall & possibly Evan Turner.
I love beating dead horses.
Evan Turner is awesome

I'm on the Favors bandwagon (pending the pick we get)
My top 3 is Wall, Turner, and Favors. Haven’t yet determine the order.

A top three pick would be pretty nice
really help the future. Get it done GP

DeMarcus Cousins over Favors
Cousins: Big body, big skill but big questions. The talent is there for both, but Favors has more athletic talent, Cousins more skill and the big bod. Cousins is an NBA center. For me, it is no contest – Cousins > Favors.

LOL
This the guy who doesn’t want Tyrus Thomas because of his mental issues. LOL

I would love Tenacious D on the Kings.

Flip Cousins and Favors and thats my list.

Although I worry about pairing Evans with Wall or Turner in the backcourt.

Justified concern
But how many of us envisioned Evans and Beno being effective in the backcourt together? I could see Evans/Wall or Evans/Turner being like a Frazier/Monroe – Ainge/D.Johnson – Porter/Drexler backcourt. I’d take one of those.

True
The one big difference between Beno and Wall/Turner though is Beno can shoot really well. Wall and Turner would be a big upgrade defensively/athletically, but I’ve always envisioned Reke pairing up with a shooter.
It’d be a nice problem to have in my opinion if we had to pick between Wall and Turner.

Or be able to trade down and remove a Noc salary off the roster.

I don't think Turner is a guy you have to worry about
He doesn’t seem like a guy that has to have the ball to be successful. NBADraft.net compares him to Brandon Roy.

Interesting aside
on DraftExpress they have the number 9 highest prospect, Patrick Patterson, listed with his upside as: Carl Landry

Ha yeah
I liked Patterson before, but now that we have Landry, whats the point?

Someone remind me
The draft happens before any team is free to sign free agents, correct?

yes.

I think the draft would have a HUGE say on what the Kings do with the money they have to spend
No rocket science, but that should be taken into consideration too.
"Children want what they want when they want it." ... Andy Sims
Absolutely.
if the Kings were to take Favors (one way or the other) I wouldn’t be shocked to see them trade JT for Troy Murphy.

I don't know about Murphy
But I agree that JT may be the odd man out if a big is drafted. If there’s one thing that Martin trade accomplished is giving the Kings options to work with this summer. We have holes in the backcourt and up front, and we have 2 mediums through which to fill those gaps: the draft and $$.
If the Kings go for a big in the draft, then the money may be used to acquire a G to complement Reke. If we somehow draft Wall or Turner, then there would still be a hole up front for rebounding and interior D that may need to be addressed through a free agent.
If we go big I truly don’t see us keeping all 4 of Spencer, JT, Landry, and the draftee. I guess one of them could also be included in a package to get help at G.
Options, options, options.
"Children want what they want when they want it." ... Andy Sims
Well you always have those 3 ways to fix your team: Draft FA & Trades
Just being over the cap doesn’t give you as many options.

Again I don't watch college ball much but
Wall, Turner, Cousins, Favors in the order. Like someone said earlier Trade Wall for Cousins & either dump Noce with him or trade & get a great player in return. For example if Utah gets 3 or 4 & we get 1 we trade Wall for Cousins & get Deron Williams back. It might be a long shot but then it’s probably a long shot we get #1 anyway. Anyways I really like Spencer & Cousins in the front court. If Spencer reaches potential it could be like a Bynum/Gasol front court.
