Another active buyer in trade talks, the Mavericks, haven’t pushed hard for Kevin Martin in their conversations with Sacramento, sources say. That’s an indication that the Mavs are focused on another wing who’d fit their needs – Washington’s Caron Butler.

Just saw this too
via Hoopshype.
What’s concerning is that Caron and Kevin play two different positions, and whether the Mavs interests lie in taking a player needed more by giving up less talent, or whether they’re pursuing the more valuable player.

Kings as facilitator?
Perhaps the Kings are acting as the third team in a Mavs/Wiz swap. Quickly, to the trade machine and the asinine trade thread!
Never forget: I am a complete idiot
Actually the Kings as a 3rd team makes sense by increasing the amount of dollars exchanged...
..it makes the 25% # bigger and thus helping Washington shed 5 million dollars to get below the LTT.
This is from David Aldridge on NBA.com:
The Wizards’ desire to move Butler has only increased in recent days, since they found out they will indeed get some cap relief from the NBA this season after losing Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton to suspension for the rest of the season. Washington’s cap number will be reduced almost $4 million, according to sources — pro-rated amounts of the remainder of Arenas’s $16.1 million and Crittenton’s $1.47 million salaries — taking its cap number to a little more than $74 million. The cap threshhold is $69.9 million, meaning Washington could avoid paying tax if it can pare another $4 to $5 million in salaries off its books.
That means Butler, though I suspect the Wizards will ask inquiring teams to remove Mike James and/or DeShawn Stevenson from their payroll as well.
Ludicrous
His scoring is down 4 points a game from last season, and his 3 point shooting percentage is off over 4% from his career average. He missed 15 games last season, and 24 the year before that. Oh, sure, he averages about 17pts/6rebs/3asts a game over his career, but they’re 17-32 this season, and only won 19 games last year. Did you know that the Wizards have never won a title in any of his 5 seasons there?
WHAT A PIECE OF SHIT.
I assume the Wiz are only looking for expirings. Good riddance, loser!

No. Sims always plays it straight.
This is his true, genuine opinion, and I for one second it wholeheartedly.

Ah, just read the article. Makes sense now.

while we're at it
I think the Twolves need to trade Al Jefferson for expiring contracts while he still has value. It’s clear that him and Love don’t work together and Jefferson is a loser who is always going to lose.

I'm pretty sure the Mavs are more focused on Butler
Because he’s actually available, and not for very much.

I'd rather see the Kings deal with Washington directly
If Washington wants to save some money how about :
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yjw7yq3
Martin, Beno, & May for
Jamison, Haywood, and Blatche
We get a starting PF and a backup plus a defensive center with an expiring contract.
Washington gets a starting PG, starting SG, and a backup PF/C plus saves $4M
then they can move McGee into the starting Center spot and with 7 player with expiring contracts they can start a pretty good rebuild next season.
