Around SBN: Ohio State And Florida Target 2013 Receiver Recruits

"I apologize," Evans said in the visitors' locker room before facing the Blazers. "It was me being frustrated and wanting to win. But me as a rookie, I should have pulled him over on the side and said, 'You know, that wasn't a good shot,' instead of putting him on blast in front of a crowd like that."

And that is a mark of a leader.

All hail Tyreke!

A good leader doesn't crap on his teammates in the press.

It’s nice that he apologized for it, but it changes nothing.

Especially when it comes in this backhanded manner.

I was wrong Noc for calling you out to Amick and I am sorry, I admit it, but I was right that you are an idiot and oh yeah, you are ugly and I am not.

Yea, you'd never see Kobe do that

Oh wait…nevermind

Who's ever called Kobe a good leader?

That’s kind of his biggest criticism.

That was actually my point (made through the use of sarcasm)

Realistically, the best player on every team has the responsibility of some level of leadership. And even some of the best players in the league are horrible vocal leaders. Let’s hope Tyreke does actually learn from this and he won’t fall into that category.

Has he?

We’ll see…

How do you know that he has learned?

He probably apologized because he was told to.

To be the best, you have to do your best. Otherwise, you are only second-rate.

Even if he was told to apologize it didn't mean he had to

Credit where due. He made a mistake, he owned up to it. I’d rather have that kind of leader than someone who thinks they’re never wrong.

You can’t learn from your mistakes if you don’t think you make any.

Everybody makes mistakes

good people try to fix their mistakes, learn from them, and move on.

I have no problem with this series of events, as it indicates that Tyreke wants to lead the team, is listening to people after he makes mistakes, is trying to get it right, and hopefully will learn and move on from it.

He is learning

Not many rookies are given the keys to an organization and he is learning how to lead.

I still like that he called him out on it

rookie or not. He’s the best player on the team, and I think if Noc is really disrupting the offense and taking bad shots, something had to be said. I like it.

I'm fine with it,too.

I agree

Maybe he should have just let Amick speculate, but i have absoulutely no problem with him “inspiring” better play from his teammates on the court.

I think Reke has a good feel for leadership

He’s only 20 yes, and calling out one of the vets in the media was wrong, but Noc was playing poorly and needed to hear it. But we also know that Reke goes out of his way to praise guys who play well too. Remember the Rookie game and him sharing the MVP trophy with Blair when he didn’t have to at all? And talking up Beno as well.

I wasn't as concerned about him calling out Nocioni

As the apparent slam on PW. And that’s not even a big deal, outside of the fact that it’s starting to be a common occurrence (and Spencer would be sitting with Coach ‘Reef the rest of the season if he’d said it).

+1

So, did he learn not to call out other players in public, or did he learn that’s he’s talking too much about the problems of the coaching staff?

All the truly great ones

Took a coach out early in their careers…Magic, MJ, Kobe. It’s a rite of passage for HOF’ers.
