Is Tyreke's Triple Double Legit?
In the game, I noticed he didn't actually get his 10th assists. It was more like 9. I was trying to find other sources to back me up. Here's 1st link. here
2nd link. here
It's just funny how he got his triple double. He got 1 assist where he passed the ball to Garcia and Garcia took 4-5 dribbles and made the shot. They counted that as an assist. Talk about stats padding...

Sorry but I'm not W's or Stephen's fans
I’m more of a Mav’s and Raptor’s fan and the Mavs are going to win it all this year baby. I just think Tyreke’s triple double is a fluke. If you can’t handle the facts, then it’s not really my problem
A Mavs fan, huh?
Fine then. Go back and research all of Jason Kidd’s triple doubles and see if any of his might contain a few stat padded assists.

It's just a stat.
Let the guy have his night. The only stat that really matters is the win. The real question is, Is why do you care so much?

Do this for me then
Go back and analyze every triple double of the last five years or so, especially those where a guy barely cleared single digits in the assist category. I’d like you to verify each assist to ensure the accuracy of the statistics.
When you do, please come back and show your work.
If you were already in the process of doing this, and Tyreke’s triple-double just happens to be your current assignment, then please forgive me.
Otherwise, f#ck off troll.

the facts?
The facts say its a triple double. Thats what it says in the record book. Looks like your the one that can’t handle the facts.
It’s ok, I’d be bitter if my team drafted DeRozan over Jennings. And that Bosh is going to leave Toronto just like every major star that played there before him.

One of the comments on the first link
makes a good point, the article says that all players are subjected to the stat padding, and since it’s still a comparison tool and tyreke still manages to stand out, he still deserves the credit. Just because there has been speculation in articles about teams inflating their teams stats, doesn’t mean we should squander what was a great game. Just enjoy it

I linked to it last night
Here’s a Deadspin article about how local statisticians help out local players. Basically, this happens everywhere and isn’t worth worrying about. I’m sure plenty of Mavericks and Raptors have received the same help over the years, as prowsinthehouse pointed out.
exactly
I was just listening to Koz … and Henry Turner was talking about when Tim Hardaway was with the Warriors. Nellie went to the stat guys before the season even started, and told them basically if it’s a wishy washy call, give the players the benefit of the doubt.
Hardaway was 2 rebounds short of a triple double. The game ended, the scorer’s went back and gave him 2 more boards for a triple double. After the game was over!!!!
It happens everywhere. I’m sure some of Curry’s assists were a bit curious. Oh well.
Kind of ironic of Nellie
Nellie: “Hey, can you tack on a few more assists for my guys?”
Stat Guy: “How about you tell them to pass instead”
www.mancancook.net
It's not as bad as..
when Lebron got the ball handed to him after a rebound last year and they game him the rebound. Which gave him that insane trip doub last year at the garden. That was so blatant they had to go back and change it

Reke managed a triple-double on Reke ROY night? Actually it was the first thought that popped in my head when I saw the highlights and stat line. I’d bet my life the stat trackers were being favorable to Reke last night. Teams certainly pad the stats of their stars.
He had one questionable assist
So sue me.

it wasnt 4-5 dribbles. it was 2. and if they dribble twice its an assist
At USC we're not snobs, we're just better than you.
An assist is "a pass that directly leads to a basket" (per the NBA)
Even if he dribbles several times, it can still be an assist. If Cisco ran out off a Tyreke rebound, Tyreke hit him at midcourt, and Garcia dribbled eight times before laying it up, it could easily still be an assist.

I don't see any problem with the assist.
"In basketball, an assist is attributed to a player who passes the ball to a teammate in a way that leads to a score by field goal, meaning that he or she was "assisting" in the basket."
This comes from: Assisting Darren Collison’s Assists,Written by Zach Harper on Tuesday, March 9, 2010
Tyreke passed the ball to Garcia, who dribbled the ball then made a basket. Sounds like an assist to me.
To be the best, you have to do your best. Otherwise, you are only second-rate.
example...the outlet pass
players dribble 5 to 10 times onan outlet pass and its still an assist

If you are so upset about this, here is what I think you should do.
You should write a complaint to the NBA and state your case. The NBA can decide to look into the issue of how assists are assigned. It sounds like there may be inconsistencies in assigning stats for players league-wide.
My guess is that the NBA will probably give it the same time and attention that it gives to individuals who complain about certain calls of referees. There has been a lot of complaints about the inconsistencies of referees.
No doubt your complaint will likely go into the same file as the referee complaints. You are certainly not going to get any resolution to your gripe here.
To be the best, you have to do your best. Otherwise, you are only second-rate.
And sometimes people get assists when they shouldn't
Like Reke’s assist to JT to send the Knicks game to OT. Good thing I was there.

Tyreke averages more assists on the road
than at home. So if you think the Kings scorekeeper is padding Tyreke’s assist stats, the numbers do not really support this claim.
Your two sources are one in the same (Zach from Cowbell Kingdom). In other words, your source is one fan. I re-watched the play out of curiosity, and Tyreke was doubled, found Garcia open cross court, who had a lane to the hoop for two. OK, it was a lenient interpretation of the assist rule, but he did draw the double and made cross court pass to give Cisco easy lane for two.
A couple of rookies, Curry and Collinson, look like they get special treatment by their home stat guys compared to Reke.
Steph Curry
Assists Home 6.0
Assists Road 4.8
Darren Collinson
Assists Home 6.2
Assists Road 3.8
Tyreke Evans
Assists Home 5.3
Assists Road 5.6
And by the way, no matter how much Cuban spends, the Mavs always fuck it up in the playoffs.

That’s actually really interesting that Reke gets more assists on the road than at home.

You took Reke got some stats padding on Reke ROY night to Reke gets padded stats in every home game.
Perhaps
Though he didn’t get any stats padding on RekeROY night.

Evans is just a special player in that regard.

stats for March (6 games each)
Evans 19,5 5.8 RB 6,6 A 43% FG
Curry 17.8 3.7 RB 6.5 A 37% FG

don't forget TO's
Curry: 4.4
Evans: 3.2

Wow 4.4 is bad
There are some guys smarter than me, some guys better looking, I take comfort in the fact that there is no guy that is both.
Actually,
Curry is at 3.0 TO’s vs. 5.4 assists, a 1.8/1 assist/turnover ratio.
Evans is at 5.5 vs. 2.9 for a 1.9/1 ratio.
Others include Collison (5.1 vs. 2.5 for 2.0/1), and Flynn (4.4 vs. 2.9 for 1.5/1).
Jennings leads the rookie pack with 6.1 vs. 2.5, a 2.4/1 ratio.

Surprised Collison's A:TO ratio isn't worse
He gets a lot of them. Then again he racks them assists up as well.

I actually think that's OK for a young PG
They have to learn to find those teammates and how to do that without being creative, aggressive? Now if it continues into the 2nd and 3rd years – problem.

A:TO ratio to me is a bit overstated when you're talking about judgment.
That assumes that A) assists are worth a damn, and B) that turnover’s are always the cause of the person with the ball. Anybody who has watched a lot of basketball will laugh at you if you ever try to assert that players who turn the ball over will automatically mean you lose games. Here’s a test:
Player A once turned the ball over 305 times total for an avg of 4 times per game.
Player B once turned the ball over 299 times total for an avg of 4.2 times per game.
Player C once turned the ball over 295 times total one season for an avg of 3.6 per times a game.
Player D once turned the ball over 231 times total one season for an avg of 3 times per game.
Player A is Magic Johnson, Player B is Isiah Thomas, Player C is Steve Nash, and Player D is Chris Paul.
Hopefully I’ve illustrated my point about players with the ball in their hands and TO’s. Even though Steve Nash is a chronic offender of turnover’s, nobody tends to consider him a chronic offender because he is so brilliant at creating shots and running the Phoenix offense. Keep it in mind that not all TO’s are created equal.
No mistakes in the tango, Donna. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....
