yes...it's encouraging how good the defense looked against the triangle tonight....

laker fans better hope they never see the Kings in the playoffs again; if the boys keep playing ‘d’ like this; we could beat them.

& that would make me very happy indeed!

Tougher than it looks

Probably the only games we’ll definitely be favored in are @New Jersey and the games we host against the Clippers and Houston. I’d rate the home games against Milwaukee and Memphis and the road game @Minny as Pick ’Em in the eyes of the bookies. If we can win those five, the road games @Clippers and @Indiana could also be had.

I've always thought Omri doesn't like seeing Tyreke succeed, so it's no surprise Omri had a big grin on his face snatching that last rebound.

Not that he should have just given the rebound to Tyreke- that would have been lame too. But generally, they don’t seem to like each other much.

by section214 on Mar 14, 2010 9:00 PM PDT up reply actions

Totally dood...

Tyreke had a nice 3-5 minute stretch in the 4th when the game was already put away to get that last rebound. I would rather see the team play the game correctly, I.E. grab rebounds when you are near them, than to manufacture another triple double for Tyreke. Coach did the right thing taking him to the bench midway through the quarter and Omri did the right thing grabbing the board.

by OrangeLazarus on Mar 14, 2010 9:02 PM PDT up reply actions

that play reminded me of a game when Webber was trying to get his 10th reb for a triple double

Divac had position, but stepped out of the way so Webber could get it. He then clapped and patted Webber on the back. I would have liked to see Casspi do that, but in the end it really doesn’t matter.

Sometimes when Cleveland plays a close game

Lebron goes nuts and I think that Lebron James is just better than the other guys. Tonight I felt like Tyreke Evans is better than the other guys.

When Tyreke has his outside shot going

Game over man, game over. Seriously, when he gets that shot down, he will be a big time star and it will make him (more) impossible to guard and make things easier for his team mates. Great game for him all around tonight!

We aint some chumps tanking for ping pong balls tude I have been seeing,a strong finish is important for a young team that will be in the hunt for a playoff spot next year

better to finish strong

The worst record can only get you at worst the 4th pick.. We still have a chance to get top 3, even if its minute. Better to have end the season knowing they’ve improved..

yes...good for our mindset as fans and good for our player's confidence going into the next season.

Not sure how that works...

My guess is that he better maintain it until the end of his rookie season. Best for him to have it when he gets the ROY award.

I’d rather have Cousins or Favors, but if we end up around 9-10, I won’t be disappointed with Aldrich at all.

Agree bteyes.

It would be great to see the players continue to improve and find their roles, but W’s are no needed in this case. A chance at another badass to go alongside Reke is a rare one indeed.

by amonk81 on Mar 14, 2010 11:46 PM PDT up reply actions

In theory, of course they would!

but even if the Kings finished with the worst record in the NBA; they wouldn’t be “guaranteed” the top pick; they would merely enhance their chances of possibly getting the top pick…

& even if said players would like in the long term to have that top pick; you can’t expect them to roll over in the short term…if they did that; you’d have another problem…

Would you really want your team to temporarily develop “anti-motivational syndrome” get your top pick, and then discover at the beginning of next season the bad habit sticking?

Will be watching Greg Monroe in the tournament

I think we’ll be drafting in the 6-10 range, and that’s probably where he will fall. Might be a nice addition to our young front line.

"I know we certainly gave up a lot to get him, but we do have other players on the perimeter who we can plug in. We haven’t had anybody who we feel is a go-to guy in the post. So we gave up a lot to get a lot, and we’re real excited about adding Carl." - Paul Westphal

A few observations (from a very good seat)

First and foremost, Tyreke is All That.

We already knew this but it was fun watching it made extremely evident in person. The kid can simply get to wherever he wants to on a basketball court, and nobody can really do much about it short of triple teaming him. However, what made me even more enthusiastic about our long term prospects were those shots he drained just inside the 3 pt arc. Reke’s outside game looked ahead of schedule tonight, and that is HUGE.

  • Nocioni was excellent tonight. The guy played with total focus, energy and fire at both end of the court. I know he and his big salary are outta here in a few weeks, but it’s too bad the Kings aren’t farther along because Nocioni could really help a playoff team.
  • Yes, the team is young but I can’t believe some of the rinky dink mistakes the Kings make at any given moment, even when they’re playing well overall.
  • JT had his share of both problems, but he did get it going for a good long while. That was inspiring. Donte’, same deal only more so. He was too athletic for the T Wolves to handle.
  • Johnny Flynn is a lightning bug.
  • Spencer was guarding Gomes quite a bit early in the game, which I thought was a bit weird but I guess it didn’t matter because Al Jefferson was too strong for anybody on the Kings to contain. Once Jefferson gets anywhere near the key (and that happened a lot tonight) there’s just not much any of our guys can do.

Landry really set the tone early in the game. He’s a better defender than I thought and boy, is he a force around the hoop! Holy toledo, Carl has the moves and the strength to pound it down low.

Peaches sauntered back to the table as half time was ending with this look on his face that said: “Yep, it’s me. No autographs please.” He’s hilarious.

Anyway, good game, let’s keep it going vs the damn Lakers!

Reke is all that....and more.

Said it before, say it again….Reke is a once in a long time player. We are fortunate to have him on the Kings. Reke is the type of player that makes a team capable of championship contention. I really think he will be considered one of the top 5 players in the league within two years. He is that good, and that means hope for all Kings fans. Anything is possible with the correct group of players around Reke.
