(Update shooting %s) Tyreke's stats - Monthly averages
Hi All,
I was kind of wondering what Tyreke's numbers have been and how they have changed since the season began. It seems like he has seriously stepped up his game. I decided to look at his numbers by the month. Just a straight forward look at averages for each month from October through the game against LA, March 16th.
I found it interesting and thought you might as well.
Here is an update with the shooting percentages by month. There isn't too much to note except that there was an improvement on FT shooting that seemed to regress. That is until the last five games.
Something happened in the last five games that has significantly changed Evans game for the better. I averaged out the last five games and he is shooting FT% of 83%. So, whatever was going on seems to be resolved and his improvement there may be continuing.
| October | November | December | January | February | March | |
| FGM-A | 44% | 42% | 49% | 44% | 50% | 43% |
| 3PM-A | 15% | 47% | 20% | 24% | 16% | 22% |
| FTM-A | 57% | 75% | 76% | 81% | 63% | 66% |
A lot of this is what you would expect. His minutes have stayed the same as have a lot of his other stats. What I was most interested in seeing is if his Assist to Turnover rate improved and it really has gotten better, the bottom row.
Does that mean he is a PG? I don't know you tell me. It tells me he is a playmaker and that is all I care about, really. This may add fuel to the fire of the NaPG debate which is fine, but I am not so sure all that is meaningful. He is playing the PG spot on the roster. Good enough for PW, good enough for me.
Another nice thing to note is that even though his assists have gone up and yet he is still scoring about the same average which is nice to see.
It would be great if this Assist to Turnover rate keeps improving and interesting to see where he ends up consistently averaging. His last four games have been at 3.4... I know small sample size and all, but his huge improvement in that last few games makes, IMO, this noteworthy.
Way to go Tyreke! Keep up the good work!
(Side note: Shooting percentages weren't working given how they were annotated. I may fix this later. Also, I included October and all the preseason games just to have it all, against my better judgment, but I don't know how much this should be considered.)

Anyone that claims Collison is Rookie of the Year
doesn’t know what the hell they’re talking about. (Looking at you @Mark_Travis)
Grandmaster of the "Never let AnotherStupidSN forget what a Sham-Wow is" Order and Originator of the "Brock Ness Monster".
I know, I ve heard it b4 too,Steph curry this, B jennings that. and I dont think they actually get it… Tyreke is a playmaker and he’s been consistent all year….!
agree that Tyreke is the rookie of the year
but don’t discount what curry has been doing
Could some of you maybe use a condom once in a while?

It doesn't matter if Tyreke is or isn't a pg
Though his assists do matter because he has the ball in his hands a lot. I want him to be Lebron, Wade. or Roy not Kobe. Kobe is Kevin Martin with the heart, confidence, & swagger of a lion. Maybe the fiercest competitor in the league. That is what makes him Kobe & not Kevin Martin but Kobe is a scorer. That’s it. Lebro, Wade, & Roy makes they’re teammates better
I love beating dead horses.
Really?
Kobe, for all of his faults off the court, he makes his team a championship team. Wade won one with Shaq but since then his Heat have been a non-factor. Labron and Roy are still trying to get rings. Don’t discredit Kobe or his value because he is a d-bag Laker.
The Sacramento Convergence concept offers Sacramento, the Central Valley, and the State a solution to feasibly construct a new multi-use Entertainment and Sports Complex.

Interesting
7.0 APG since the start of February. And rebounds per game have been increasing too. Incredible. After his first month at 20/5/5 we were told that what made the best players the best is that they got better as their rookie seasons went on. For Dec/Jan, his APG stagnated and his RPG fell in Jan (which coincided with Curry gaining big minutes and thus Curry enters ROY competition). February rolls around and Evans puts up a big month at 20/5.8/7.0. March is here and it’s even better—20/7/7. That’s just incredible. I mean, INCREDIBLE.

Yes, I agree
Just what is his ceiling? I mean he is already putting up great numbers and improving every month…
Great Stuff MBS!
Rec’d! I appreciate the breakdown and am impressed that he seems to be committed to improving all facets of his game—except blocks, ha!
I was watching a bunch of highlights and I had a couple of observations on Tyreke…
1) He seldom plays above the rim. He is almost a throwback with the scoop and layup versus the Tomahawk Jam. It is surprising given his height and length should lend itself to more dunks. On the flip side, he is probably less prone to injury by not being so exposed up in the air.
2) I think he attacks the basket a little differently than Lebron. Lebron is more coast to coast, or get the ball high on the wing and with an explosive first step nobody wants to get in front of the freight train. He takes advantage of the space that defenders give him and the double teams just are committed to taking Lebron’s knee in their throat.
But what is amazing to me about Tyreke is he seems to really shine when he is being closely guarded. He is illusive and is able to use his dribble around anyone wearing him like a glove and almost in slow motion just loops by defenders that try and collapse on him. Unlike Lebron’s defenders Tyreke’s defenders legitimately converge to defend him and he is really good at getting his shot off—albeit often below the rim—or making the sweet dump to the waiting shooter on the wing.
3) I am not the first to notice, but his ability to avoid contact. He is amazingly skilled at avoiding the set defender even when he fakes one way and has to cross all the way over mid-stride. Surprisingly he avoids the charge and leaves the defender standing their looking silly. I wish JT had that move.
Anyway, I am curious how his shooting percentages have changed…I may look into that.
Perception is strong and sight weak. In strategy it is important to see distant things as if they were close and to take a distanced view of close things.
