Ok Carl gets game MVP
so he can stay for another game
anytime Hawes gets double digit boards I will say he did ok no matter what he did with the rest of his game
with 21 games to go the Kings can still have a winning season
with 21 games to go Tyreke is a +16 +22 and -3 in his quest for the 20 5 and 5 of pts ast and RBs
I’ll take an ugly win over a pretty loss anyday

"Kings can still have a winning season"
All they have to do is go 21-0 to close out the season. I see no reason to expect anything short of that. I’m on a horse!

2-Shay
That would have been a good tough match up and i bet Scloa would not have gotten 18 rebounds?
only three players shot better than 50% on both teams
Landry, Garcia on the Kings, Jeffries on the Rox
OK Landry and Scola played well
everyone else sucked

Cisco played well too
Grandmaster of the "Never let AnotherStupidSN forget what a Sham-Wow is" Order and Originator of the "Brock Ness Monster".
I saw it
K-mart went to give him props for the win, and Cisco kinda ignored him and was speaking with the other Kings about the win. Who knows though, he might have been mad still about getting kicked in the leg by K-mart earlier in the game.
I missed it.
That’s pretty interesting. I wonder if that reflects on Cisco’s feelings or whether it was more a reflection of the team about Kevin.
To be the best, you have to do your best. Otherwise, you are only second-rate.
Cisco was mad at someone for leaving Brooks open in the last play
That’s why he didn’t even turn around. He was ready to let whoever let Brooks open know that doing that was unaceptable. Kevin just happened to be there ready to shake hands with him.
Come on people
"Children want what they want when they want it." ... Andy Sims
It might've actually being Tyreke
because right after he gave Kevin a hug, he went to Tyreke to talk to him about something and he wasn’t happy. That’s just Cisco’s intensity.
"Children want what they want when they want it." ... Andy Sims
That's cool.
Thanks for explaining that.

The points part is the easiest one for him to get so he won’ t have a problem making up for tonight.
If anything it was a good lesson for him.
Reke can't rely this much on his penetration
Houston game planned him perfectly….or maybe its just that they have battier
Battier is an awesome defender
The best in the league IMO. Like Westphal said, I’m interested in seeing what Reke does next time they meet.
"Children want what they want when they want it." ... Andy Sims
Agreed
I’ve been saying Battier is the best defender in the league for years, and the fact that he somehow doesn’t make the All-Defensive 1st Team is beyond me, especially when Kobe Bryant does. Ugh.

It's hard to say this
But obviously Kobe is one of the best to ever play the game. Not THE best, but he’s certainly up there. And he gets honored on the 1st team All-Defensive because of who he is, not his defensive talents. When he wants to, he can certainly be one of the best defenders in the league, but the bottom line is that Kobe doesn’t “turn it on” during most plays, whereas someone like Battier is giving it his all 100% of the time. You can argue that the reason Kobe doesn’t turn it on defensively is because he has such an offensive responsibility, and that wouldn’t be inaccurate. But that doesn’t mean he deserves to be 1st Team All-Defensive because he CAN be a great defender. Those who make that team should be the best defenders night in and night out.
Agreed. Battier had 7 blocks!
He is very good. And a prime example that the value of some players can’t be measured by statistics.
Dunking Dutchman
2 things
They were smart to put Battier on Tyreke as Battier is one of the best defenders in the NBA and I think Tyreke was showing he is still a rookie by trying to go into triple coverage all night and throwing up those crazy rainbow shots he takes. I hope he improves his shooting stroke.

I can't help but feel bad for the Rockets
They went from T-Mac and Artest to Martin and Ariza in one season.
That looks like an upgrade to me
Artest > Ariza
Martin >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>TMac for 3/4 years now
There are some guys smarter than me, some guys better looking, I take comfort in the fact that there is no guy that is both.
Why feel bad?
They got younger with Ariza, Artest wasn’t going to stick around forever anyways, A healthy Yao gives them the best Center in the league (at least imo) playing along side Scola. Brooks is young and really good and Martin is a good fit along side a guy like Brooks. Then add the very solid bench.
Trust me, there’s teams in worse positions out there. They will be a playoff team again next year.
"It's as Ann as the nose on plain's face."
it all depends on Martin
I wonder how Martin will react when Yao comes back and becomes the focal point of the offense. Hopefully, for the Rockets’ sake, he won’t pull the same kind of crap he did when Evans became the man.
I'm sure he'll cry and complain
He’s always done that. What an asshole he is. He’ll probably try to get traded again. The kid is such a cancer!!
"Children want what they want when they want it." ... Andy Sims
nah, Martin is an introvert
He’ll just mope around, pout, and quit on the team. Maybe he’ll even diss Houston on his way out like he did to Sac.

I don't think the points are in danger
He’s been the most consistent scoring rookie in all the league, and gets most of his shots at the rim. He’s got a couple 30 points game left in him, and I’m shocked he hasn’t had a triple double yet, although he’s been close several times.

and that illegal screen on him was a bullshit call – thought the officiating overall tonight was pathetic
by lchristmas on Mar 3, 2010 10:22 PM PST via mobile up reply actions
dorsey doesn't seem to get under opposing player's skins....
which is a nice trait of brockman
I thought it was a moving screen
but I loved the hard takeout of Brooks. I think physicality can help keep speedy guys from running rampant on our defense.
Dorsey is a better defender by FAR, though
I’ll take defense over motor

There are some guys smarter than me, some guys better looking, I take comfort in the fact that there is no guy that is both.
I'll bet that your uncle would approve, too

On this night
Every victorious team wins a game scoring at least 100 points, except the Kings at 84. I guess those teams made more of their 100 attempts.

That never really stopped him before.
To be the best, you have to do your best. Otherwise, you are only second-rate.
francisco garcia i owe you an apology
forgot how effective a player you can be. able to play both guard spots defensively, fundamentally sound, can knock down the jumper and a mentally tough leader. I really think a 4 guard rotation of reke, beno, cisco and (decent pg able to give 10-15 minutes of spot duty and make an open 3 tbnl) would be effective next year.
houston fans are expecting kevin to be something he’s not. a wise man once said that “you need someone you can throw the ball to” or something like that. he’s not that and never will be. but if yao comes back healthy he’ll be a good complimentary option.
and as far as carl landry goes….. ONIONS!!!
by lchristmas on Mar 3, 2010 10:32 PM PST via mobile reply actions
so are the kings going to do something for martin what the rockets did for landry?
Or are we just going to cheer our lungs out?
Nice win for you guys, especially on a BTB on the road.
Landry was the difference, but I thought neither team played all that well. Another Dreamshake writer was there and we just couldn’t get over how generally awful the Rockets looked. Credit to the Kings D, and offensive rebounding, but I called it a rock fight, and it was.
I think the Battier – Evans matchup was interesting, with Evans perhaps learning something about defense in the NBA. He’ll have a different approach next time, I imagine. The guy is amazingly fast for his size, it’s incredible. If he can develop a jumper, and even more, a post game, wow.
Neither Martin nor Brooks did much, and I thought they would. Scola, and Andersen, who hardly played in the 2nd half, did well, and I thought they wouldn’t. Just an odd, unpleasant, game to watch.
Anyway, grats to the Kings, but this one leaves a bad taste for me.
PS – Your game shirts are amazing.
Significant gravitas shortfall expected in 2010.
That was a tough one to watch, even as we were leading.
Just long, painful stretches of really poor basketball. A very solid point about Tyreke learning what it’s like to deal with a team that has guys that can really defend. Battier is still no joke, and watching him play defense is like watching a chess master. He just knows where you’re going to be, and what you’re going to be doing when you get there.
I don’t suppose Tyreke will have an easier time getting to the rim once Yao is back…
Rocks are free, and slingshots easily stolen.
I dunno, Tyreke seems like he can get to the rim on anyone.
Although an ambush was waiting on several occasions. Once he really gets a drive-and-kick down, though…
I was noticing tonight that Sacrament can field a really big team. It looks like all that’s needed is maybe a defensive shot blocking center and maybe a change of pace PG. And time. It’s a young team, you can see that by how uneven their possessions are. Of course the Rockets didn’t look much more composed tonight.
Significant gravitas shortfall expected in 2010.
Battier has been known to study for hours & hours
on his next defensive assignment. He really takes pride in it. IMO he has been better for the Rockets than Rudy Gay would have been. He is a true defensive competitor.
I love beating dead horses.
Brooks struggled
Because Evans is a MUCH better defender than people give him credit for. His size is such an unfair advantage over other PG’s

Kings +3 with Temple on the floor
That seemed to be the difference in the game. Nice pick-up. Thanks again Houston for your unwanted player.
