Magic Pill??

Can somebody tell me if there is some kind of magic shooting pill King’s opponents take before games? Doesn’t seem to matter how good the opposition normally is. They still end up absolutely stroking the long ball for a big chunk of the game. I’m not just talking about poorly guarded outside jumpers, I’m talking about everything! What gives??

by rstewartwest on Mar 31, 2010 7:52 PM PDT reply actions

It's called confidence. They know they are playing the Kings.

by Slam_Dunk on Mar 31, 2010 7:55 PM PDT up reply actions

I would also add the Minnie-haw-haws seemed to want it more....

After all, hadn’t they lost 16 in a row before this?I’m sure they saw this as a ‘must win’. Any team (even a good team) can be beaten by another team that wants it more….the Kings didn’t seem to ‘want it’ until the 4th quarter…I’m surprised that it was as close as it was considering the disparity in rebounds, poor offensive second quarter, etc.

all that said, i woulda preferred a win…I’m getting tired of this; it’s dispiriting.

by Rhondda Nunes on Mar 31, 2010 8:02 PM PDT up reply actions

I agree with you.

They had lost 16 in a row, which must have been demoralizing to say the least. I would agree that they probably did want the win more than the Kings. As much as the Kings’ players say they want to finish strong, they really do not seem all that hungry.

I am getting tired of the losing, as well. But, since they are not playing for a playoff berth, I can see where they might not be all that motivated at this point. After all, the Kings did better than they were expected to this season.

To be the best, you have to do your best. Otherwise, you are only second-rate.

by Slam_Dunk on Mar 31, 2010 8:50 PM PDT up reply actions

A young beat up team that is still figuring things out.

I may be the only one, but an 0-fer when you’re a championship team on a 5 game swing is inexcusable. When you’re a team that had lost 49 games already on the season, it’s probably why you’ve lost 49 games up until that point.

You're not the only one

I’m with you in regards to keeping things positive with a young team. No arguments there. But this is the Wolves and they’re terrible and that’s the main reason I’m so frustrated tonight.

These things definitely happen to teams this young and I’m overreacting in fun. Plus you know, the whole drinking thing…

He's doing that to ignore how poorly the team is playing and to avoid talking about the injuries and how it's effected this team.

Well 530 is like the Eastern half of Northern Cali that isn't in the 916 or 209

It goes all the way to the Oregon better and cuts the valley in half where 707 takes the West side.

But the difference is that 530 goes as far west as Fairfield (TZ would know better than I) and 707 goes as far south as Vallejo and Rio Vista I believe.

I went to a Nets game his first season with the Celtics. Ten rows up, I feared for my life while he was on the court. If it wasn’t for basketball, KG would be a homocidal maniac on everybody’s Most Wanted list. He’d be Napoleon with height, and pure wanton lust for his enemies blood. The scary part of that? KG considers everyone his enemy, even his teammates. I mean, this the guy who punched Leon Powe so hard in congratulations after a good play that the kid bruised. He’s fucking insane, he is assuredly pathologically competitive, and he is undoubtedly the scariest motherfucker on the court.

Un F'n believable...

I go to the Los Lobos concert in Modesto and come out to find the Kings have lost to a team that had a 16 game losing streak going. Un F’n believable!!! We must now officially be the door mat for the league. This is getting F’n old.

I just can't get upset over this Kings team this season

Progress, however slow, is still progress. From the worst team in the League to the 5th or 6th worst is okay. Really. Does it matter so much that the Kings win all of the games against Playoff contenders or dregs when the season record is counted?

The young squad is playing hard. They hustle. I like the coach. And this draft will improve the talent base more. In this NBA you have to lose to get better. Losing hurts but this team is looking up. The team will need another two seasons to make some noise.
Reality (sucks).

The positives of this latest game:
Donté with 21 points and 5-6 from 3 pt land
Tyreke had great numbers – 13 assists!
Landry is incredibly consistent, 22 pts tonight – the guy has had double digit scoring every game as a King.
Only 8 players logged PT v. TWolves. with Udoka and Brockman only 8 and 13 mins. This was not a full strength team and for the Kings to win they need everyone. Or did you think that just showing up would have the opposition forfeit?

You can cry about the bad or smile about the good. Your time, your dime.Lastly;
Patience (yes, the patience preacher has spoken).

Most teams throughout NbA history have essentially mandated you lose to get top picks.

The thing was that there was so many loopholes that teams like the C’s & Lakers found ways to exploit them. Now, there are no loopholes (even the Memphis Grizzlies) to really exploit to get better.

hence, the lottery

the rest of this season, since the All-Star break (or earlier) has been a waiting game for the draft. The top teams fight over playoff position, the lower teams over lottery draft position, that’s just the way it is.

I've not been really waiting for the draft.

Finishing the year strong is very important.

After last year....

…I can’t stomach losing games to “improve” the “odds” at draft position. Sorry.

I am not agreeing or disagreeing

but next year this team starts anew. Just like the Nets and the TWolves and everyone else. Just like this year.

Finishing strong? 1, 2, 4, 5 wins, doesn’t matter. The record wipes out all meaning to strong, IMO – greater than 50 losses, (more like 55) is rotten. Period.

That's true

This team started new this past year, and will continue to build off the momentum already had this season.

yup

These are a good group of players and coaches. They will throw out the bad come Nov 1 2010. They have to. And we fans will as well. What kind of hell would we be in if we didn’t? I don’t want to be a sad, whiney cheerleader. Ever.

Didn't get to see the whole game due to travel

But I caught most of the third and part of the fourth. I know the defense is bad, but the offense was a big culprit IMO. From what I saw, there was very little pushing of the ball coming up the floor to get into position quickly, and very little ball or player movement. It didn’t appear that Minnesota’s defense was causing this issue, both Beno and Tyreke just didn’t appear to bring the ball up or run the offense with purpose.

It was very frustrating to watch.
