I ate them all.

And gave the excess to Sims.

No mistakes in the tango, Donna. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....

I'm not sure Donald Sterling is a human being. He had to have been manufactured by someone, possibly David Stern, so that one team could solely just make profit for the NBA while doing nothing good for themselves. -- Aykis 16

Landry has gotten 125 FT’s during the 4th Qtr. Might be a good idea to give him the ball. He gets fouled? He scores. He gets the bucket? He scores. What an idea!

It wasn't clear path

Because whoever the Portland player was that fouled Landry was in front of him when he committed the foul. For it to be a clear path he would’ve had to have been behind him. Thankfully he made both.

I promise I'm not Oden bashing. I can see that he's good.

Oden is a better player than Camby, I’ll grant you that. But how much better? I’m just saying its not as much as you might think, the way Camby has played this year.

Does Oden suit Portland’s stately offensive pace better? I’d agree with that.

My point, and I do have one I think, is that Portland is far less stricken by injury right now. They’ve had a freakishly bad year in that regard, but they’ve gotten Batum back, and Fernandez. Yes, it’s a drop to go from Oden to Camby, but it’s not a season ending drop at all.

I've looked at it.

Oden is about 2.4 WS better than Camby, assuming Oden (or Camby for that matter) could play a whole season. This is big, no doubt, but its far from the end of the world for Portland. And projecting a guy who is (sadly for everyone who likes NBA basketball) never available is sort of beside the point. I honestly think Portland needs to plan as if he’s not going to be around, and not the reverse.

If Portland was a team that could go deep in the playoffs with Oden, I think they still can with Camby. That’s really my only point here.

Short term solution I mean.

No mistakes in the tango, Donna. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....

The Yao point is well taken

But the situation with Oden is considerably worse. Until this year Yao has basically played as many minutes in each of 7 seasons as Oden has in 2. And they each have a completely lost season, but only after Yao has logged almost 16,000 minutes.

I think it’s terrible for Oden and Portland, but that’s why I said they have to plan to only be pleasantly surprised by him. It’s a different case from Yao.

I don’t see it that way.

Look at Oden’s injuries:

A) microfracture, deemed “preventitive.” many basketball players have had worse knees than Oden, and not had the surgery. They decided to do it because of his important stature going forward. Oden’s surgery here was so successful that he didn’t even need to ice his knees all the time when he started running.

B) patella injury, his first scary injury. It was simply a broken bone, with no ligament/tendon damage.Nothing long term.

Everything else has been little stuff that big men accumulate over time.

I hope that you are right.

For the sake of Portland, and NBA fans in general. Oden’s advanced stats are just awesome, so I don’t think he’s a “bust”. I’m pretty worried he’s never going to be able to stay healthy, mainly because there just aren’t any data points that suggest he can.

Greg Oden is effectively going to have to be unique at this point, to break free of a nasty early injury pattern and have a big career anyway.

I also think his career, assuming those injuries are really fluky after all, will have a very early expiration date because of the microfracture surgery. That is, it’s something a very young big man can overcome, but over time it will be a bigger and bigger problem, until he’s simply unable to take the pounding.

I know this has been debated ad nauseam on BE, but I’m not really a part of that. It could well be that you’re right, and I’m hoping you are.

the microfracture was actually decided upon to prolong his career. I believe Pritchard said at the time, “we want him to play ’til he is 35.”

looking at data points? Illgauskas? We’ve debated plenty of names that have been hurt and gotten healthy. Greg has three seasons. Looking at those three seasons and making overarching judgments is simply impossible right now.

What I am saying is

there are presently no data points that suggest he can be healthy, not at Ohio State, not at Portland. That’s not an overarching statement, that’s a recitation of history.

It can be explained away to some extent, but it is still the way things have happened.

Pritchard can say microfracture will let someone play until they’re 35. That doesn’t make it true (or untrue). We honestly don’t have a long-term history on the surgery done very early in an NBA career. My understanding of the process makes me skeptical that the “false cartilage” will hold up to the pounding of many NBA seasons.

Again, I hope I am wrong. Neither of us knows what will happen.

Not the result I wanted

But Toronto is up 3 on the Lakers right now, and Glee is on Fox. It’s a repeat I’ve seen, but whatever. Still worth watching since it’s a great one :)

The Kings are going to lose.

It’s one thing that happens with youth and a very new roster.

we did receive a few bad calls go our way towards the end.

they do suck though. I enjoyed the part where Rice made a remark about his tooth hurting previously in the fourth, right after it was going to break and he just yells " and they were my real teeth". right before it faded out you can here him ask the other guy if he thought the fan heard him?
