Nice piece by Abbott.

And Kevin Martin is a great example of a decision made by management to give him minutes even though his rookie year didn’t seem prosperous. (Martin was expected to “contribute”, not start the load of games he did.)

Oh and regards to Whiteside

This is going to be a very interesting drat for a number of teams who are picking in the lower picks of the 1st round. There might be a sleeper or 3 down there because this draft may be one of the deepest we’ve seen in awhile.

Sort of why I wouldn't mind the Kings grabbing another 1st rounder

in one of those $3 million swaps. Quite a few guys I like in the lower rounds like Pondexter or Solomon Alabi.

Also our 2nd rounder should be high enough to matter again.

Petrie won't ask the Maloof's to spend that money

And they probably won’t wish to.

If we're giving away players,

the list starts with Noc. Whose contract (because it’s front loaded) is even better for opposing teams. A 1st rounder though might be a stretch — unless we’re talking Boston and we’re taking Ray-Ray in return. Uh… no.

Tanking? I don't know what you're talking about, tanking. I'm just losing in new and unpredictable ways.

one thing abbott overlooks is practice

Even a guy who doesn’t get many game minutes has a chance to show his stuff in practice and earn more “royal jelly.”

Rookie rankings rookie schmankings

If this guy is making the implication that because Steph Curry has had a solid second half that he should be rookie of the year… well that seems to be a bit silly to me. It seems more like they are trying to drum up some sort of a race when honestly, and lets face it, for the entire year NOBODY has come close to Tyrekes production. Silly little NBA ranking man… trix are for kids.

Drew Packham didn't say he thought Curry was ROTY

He said he thought he was the better rookie that week. Packham isn’t an idiot. I don’t think Reke will lose the ROTY anyway (not that I’m worried about it anyway—all the talk has made me wonder if the Kings are better off with Reke losing it to Curry).

No they wouldn't be

They’ve spent a lot of money promoting Reke as RoY. It’s funny because he probably would’ve won without any of those promotions. Still, its been fun.

In terms of a anger & drive standpoint.

It would also drives days & days of controversy. But people would get over it and so would the franchise.

I said something to that effect earlier this month

about Reke possibly losing and then setting the league on fire next season through sheer pissed-off-ness.

But he’s going to win, so it doesn’t matter.

I'm going to each of the final three home games,

and I will be rooting for victories at each of them. That said, I will be over the loss before I start the car for the drive home.

Losses don't bother me all that much because it's part of the process.

Having said that, I refuse to root for losses because there is nothing guaranteed if you lose come lottery time. I’d rather win games and get lucky in the lottery than lose games and end up unlucky in the lottery and miss out on the playoffs.

Winning > losing

I’m hoping to make the Rockets game. And I’ve been feeling the same way for the past couple weeks. Losing hrts but you get over it thinking it will make us better in the future.
