I read something interesting a couple of weeks ago
About how Shane Battier (one of my favorite players) doesn’t do the full-court heave at the end of the quarter/half/game because he doesn’t want his FG% to be negatively affected. I just thought of it because of what Peaches said about Tyreke not caring about stats, which is obviously BS, but I assume he meant not caring about FG%, and some players DO legitimately care about that (though of course Battier doesn’t care about scoring a ton of points and all that…he’s much more of a defensive player but whatever).

But I somehow stumbled across a super long article on Battier, and it further proved his awesome-ness. It talked about how ridiculous he is in preparation for games…looking at tapes and complex statistics and all kinds of stuff to know when a player he’s assigned to is more and less efficient. So he knows which shots Kobe is more likely to hit and how much better he is with one hand or the other, and whatever else. And he does this for every game.
I’m actually going to the Kings-Rockets game on Monday (totally psyched for it too) but I’m really disappointed Battier is out. But then again, it’ll be more likely for Tyreke to score against a non-Battier-level defender.
It's true, some players will shoot that just after the buzzer.

I was just pointing out that some players DO care about the particular stat Peaches was talking about, though in the case of Battier it’s irrelevant to say because he hardly cares about stat-padding in other situations. He’s pretty much the ultimate team player. In case you couldn’t tell, I love Battier.
