Agreed

But Reke had his triple-double this month along with a couple more games that were almost triple dubs. Curry is an awesome player and deserves recognition but I think Reke earned it and didn’t get it. Oh well, there’s always April…oh wait, nevermind.

When their stats are similar

And Tyreke misses 5 games, while Curry misses 2…well, that might be a tiebreaker.

You’d think ‘Reke was getting screwed here, but I would have voted for Curry myself for ROM for March. That doesn’t make him the ROY, just that he had a better month than ’Reke.

The constant butthurt about people being butthurt is even more ridiculous

You’re entitled to you opinion but why do you care so much that other people care? It’s seems like you are genuinely upset about it.

You’re like the nagging wife of STR. Bitchin about people bitchin about other people. It’s like the husband coming home from work, bitchin about his boss, & his wife nagging him telling him to stop bitchin about his boss.

by allbenji's on Apr 9, 2010 7:25 PM PDT up reply actions

Let me get this straight

It’s only okay to complain about Reke getting screwed outta ROTY. But when someone disagrees and provides a viewpoint, albeit not necessarily a kind viewpoint, that differs than yours, it’s akin to a nagging wife who is pissed off that her husband complains about his boss?

Logic doesn’t compute. People disagree with you all the time around here. Better get used to it.

by pookeyguru on Apr 9, 2010 7:28 PM PDT up reply actions

I wasn't even referring to you pookey

I don’t care that you don’t care I just don’t get how anyone would care so much that other people do care. A difference of opinion is one thing but it doesn’t even seem like it’s that anymore. I don’t tell you that you are a bad Kings fan for not caring or something similar. I don’t care if you don’t care. We can argue about points but why is it ok to say someone has no balls but not ok to call someone a nagging wife?

It’s one thing to say “I don’t care & this why” or “I do care & this is why” but to say someone has no balls because they care is no different than calling someone a nagging wife because they care so much that you care.

There is no difference of opinion here anyway. As I’ve stated here the last few days I don’t care anymore.

That's totally different.

You’re complaining about something that hasn’t happened. People stump for players all the time. That’s not quite the same thing even though I get why you used that as an analogy. Let’s just say that I wouldn’t have used that as the analogy.

Do you even read my comments before you respond to them

I don’t care anymore about ROY. I understand yours & andy’s point of view I just couldn’t understand the anger from andy about other people caring that’s all. To say people need to grow a pair because they care is just childish imo. It is the equivalent to my “Derrick Favors” comment towards you.
If andy was just giving people a hard time( he probably was) then my sincere apologies to andy but I couldn’t tell if it was half joking or if he is really bothered by other people caring So I half jokingly used the nagging wife scenario.

I have no problem with disagreements like you said it happens all the time to me.

Honestly

I try to be the last person to tell people what they should and shouldn’t be talking about. I’m a big believer in bypassing the stuff that I’m not interested in, and leaving people to their conversations, whether I think it’s silly or not.

However, it’s hard not to point out that a group of people are getting so riled up about something that hasn’t even occurred. It’s a tinfoil hat conspiracy – that anyone would imply that the NBA is actively attempting to get Steph Curry the rookie of the year award…with the smoking gun being that Curry won the rookie of the month award in a month where he was pretty clearly the best rookie. It makes no sense.

I disagree with Andy in one way – if Tyreke doesn’t receive the rookie of the year award (highly doubtful IMO), I’m pretty sure I’ll be pissed. Not because there was some grand conspiracy to give the award to Steph Curry or Brandon Jennings, but that the people who voted for it are idiots.

But I’m going to wait to get pissed off about it after it happens.

I've got squirrels in my pants!

by otis29 on Apr 9, 2010 8:46 PM PDT up reply actions

I agree Otis and

maybe my title has been misinterpreted. What I meant by it was that the ROTM (which I think Reke deserved but is debatable) will add to Curry’s resume for the season. I think that gives Curry three months with ROTM to Reke’s two. The concern here is that many east coast voters have not payed a lick of attention to either player other than seeing their “resume”. I do think Tyreke has the stats that can’t argued with but as a Kings fan, I am wary of counting chickens before they hatch. If somehow He doesn’t get ROY I will be really pissed but I’ll also get over it as Andy eludes to.

On to other points, talking about the issue does not mean people are freaking out, this is a kings discussion forum where all things kings can be discussed. It is frustrating to having comments be mocked or ridiculed but that is the net for you and honestly my title was probably a poor choice.

I'm not sure it was the title

But we’ve had a few of these threads, and people seem to get all worked up whenever Curry gets some recognition, or one knucklehead national writer says he thinks Jennings should be the ROY.

These guys are good players, and deserve some accolades. But whenever they get those accolades, there is a contingent here that sees it as a slap at Tyreke or an indication that he’s going to get jobbed out of the ROY.

It just strikes me as odd…it’s like adding two plus two and coming up with “candy canes”.

I've got squirrels in my pants!

by otis29 on Apr 9, 2010 9:07 PM PDT up reply actions

Curry is an excellent player and I'd be thrilled to have him on our team

And I in no way mean to degrade Curry’s accomplishments, but there has been a strong increase in Curry media and love nationally that you don’t see as much with Tyreke. I think and hope that the voters are smarter than to let sports writers influence their opinions but then again Napear is a voter and he’s a complete tool.

Also I love me some candy canes ;p

Also

it really annoyed me that on the same day Curry got ROTM, Reke was in an ESPN article calling the guy a chucker. We know better here on the west coast but east coasters seem to think Evans is the next AI. Many of the league’s voters have probably only seen Reke twice, when their respective team plays the kings so the perception is the concern.

That was because we have an awesome GM

He is on our team. When we have to depend on everyone else not associated with the team it’s totally different. We’re not going to land Evan Turner because Tyreke loses the ROY. Is it possible something good can possibly come out of Tyreke getting screwed? I don’t think it will make a difference either way.

Above all we weren’t screwed at all in that situation anyway. It is a draft LOTTERY . It might have felt like we were screwed but the ping pong balls have no agenda.

Because the year the Blazers had the worst record--05-06--the Blazers ended up with the 4th pick.

That pick ended up turning into LaMarcus Aldridge. He’s kinda good?

As far as Bower, the Hornets had the 2nd worst record in 04-05 with 18 wins. That pick ended up being Chris Paul.

My point is simple: Geoff Petrie is a smart fellow, but being in the top 5 of the draft is what ultimately makes the difference.

When the Kings played the Pacers

I was watching the Indiana feed and Quinn Buckner asked the play-by-play guy who he would select as ROY. I think this guy has a vote, and he said Brandon Jennings, without offering a lot of rhyme or reason other than the Bucks had the better record. Quinn didn’t disagree.

I think there is enough media people in the know that Tyreke will win ROY. One more triple double in one of these last 3 games would be nice as punctuation mark on a brilliant rookie season, award winning or not.
