Advanced Stats - Donte 4th Most Improved Player
Interesting thread at APBR Metrics board. Ranks most improved players according to eWins. JT was #7 in November (if you go back to page 1). Donte is now #4 as we near the end of the season (scroll to bottom of page). I know it's easy to get down on some of our young guys because our expectations get so high when they have oscillate between amazing and dunderheaded, but it's still nice to see validation of their progress and remind ourselves how they are progressing.

Great find, thank you
Perspective is hard to come by, especially when we’re living game to game and most of them are losses.
Thanks for the link
I’m still a Donté skeptic, but the kid has really worked hard this season. Good to see that work has paid off.
As an aside, it would be interesting to see a list of all players, or a team-by-team list.
I've got squirrels in my pants!
All I wanted this year was for Donte to sneak into the back end of the rotation by the end of the year.
Now I’m disappointed when he doesn’t give 25 good minutes.
I’m not sure how defense is accounted for, but I would think he’s the type of player who’s improvement (outside of sucking horribly last year) would be difficult to measure. The fact that his growth still shows up on those metrics means he really has improved so much.
Note the lack of a hyphen.

From my best understanding of eWins
it does factor in defense. It’s not a mostly offensive statistic like PER.
I agree with you too, I was hoping for some improvement, have seen it, but get discouraged when Donte disappears for 2-3 games in a row. So I was actually pretty shocked and surprised when I saw he had the 4th biggest improvement of any player in the league so far this year.
I’m hoping with our team improving and Reke setting the example, all the guys start training harder in the off-season and Donte can continue to build on this.
this is a nice find
Remember, per Hollinger metrics Donte was the 65th out of 65 PF’s last year. In his write up Hollinger comments just how low, low is.
This shows that most important to the development of Greene he has graduated from Doratio to Donte. He has improved. Progress no matter how fast or slow is progress. The talk can shift from IF he can make to when will he make it. Hard work, listening to the coaches/teachers and ego reformation are all difficult maneuvers for any of us. Some of his other equally aged teammates should take note. /hat tip to you Donte Greene.
no he could have stayed the same (which is the same as getting worse) or digressed
Quincy Douby got better but there was no significance to his improvement. Donte bettered that. He added more to his game and it meant something. He brought more to the court. He has to continue to do that but it is a process and he has shown that he has the ability to be a player worth developing.

their is a difference in their 1st seasons
Doubys per was 9 his rookie year, where as Dontes was a horrendous 5. Donte improved to a per of 11.6 this season and Douby had a per of 9.7 in his second seasons. if Douby was that bad to begin with (per of 5) we would have been talking about Douby’s great improvments in his second season a few years ago.
I'm very happy for Donte
He’s one of my favorite players on this team and I’m happy he’s proving some people wrong. He’s still has A LOT of work to do, but I don’t see any signs that he’s not going to get better. Keep it up Buckets!
