Introducing ESPN Sacramento
ESPN has recently begun a trend of creating specialized websites for certain cities. So far this has been limited to some of the bigger markets, such as Boston, Los Angeles, Dallas, and New York. But Sactown Royalty got the scoop that some of the smaller markets will get their own websites as well. So after the jump, take the very first look at the never before seen ESPN Sacramento!

I agree with you.
They proved what they could do this year. If anything, they showed how competitive they can be in the playoffs. At one point, it looked as though they could pull off an upset.
To be the best, you have to do your best. Otherwise, you are only second-rate.
Larger Body of Evidence
for other coaches to scrutinize Scotty Brooks’ coaching style and how they, as a team, execute his tendencies. They’ll still be good, but I would think they probably won’t be taking as many teams by surprise next year. The Lakers were clearly not prepared for the dog fight they found themselves in….

Or maybe an NHL team as rumored in the past
or the Oakland A’s, but thats only if we lost the Kings
anyway love the lay out
Although a small market worth a damn to ESPN will most likely be located some where in the Mid to Eastern part of the United States

There’s a couple of teams in serious financial trouble too, so its not a completely ridiculous idea….

Much Agreed
There’s been plenty of times a number of folks in my circle have considered caravan-ing down to the Shark tank when the Redwings are in town (the only time I’d go to the Tank, being from MI…) It’d be a helluva lot cooler to see it here, though….

Do NOT want an NHL team in Sacramento
That would blackout the Sharks games for me. 1 hockey team in NorCal is enough.
The A's would kill it here in Sac
Raley Field is sweet and built to expand. On Mother’s Day, for Braden’s perfect game, the River Cats had over 1000 more fans than the A’s did.

I've been saying this for a while
I always joke, well maybe it isn’t a joke, that all of the A’s fans are just people who drove over from Sacramento. I like the idea of the A’s coming here and taking over Raley field, and have the RiverCats relocate to Fresno or whatever the going city is. Plus Raley field is MUCH nicer than the A’s stadium, but so is a highway truck stop, so I guess that’s not saying much.

At first glance, it looks legit. It was only after looking closer, that I realized it was a joke. It was the Peach Pit with Grant Napear that was the tip off for me. Of course, then there was the Big Carl, and so forth. I could have bought into the LeBron in the Sacramento 23 jersey.

Really?
Come on years from now this whole made up drama surrounding him will be gone and people will remember him for being a face of the franchise for a certain time. Plus if he goes off somewhere else and becomes huge, they’ll jump on the chance to retire his number. I mean… they retired Divac’s number when he was really a Laker. I think down the road when they have a dismal season again and need fans, they might pull that card.

Divac and Webber both made memorable impacts in the playoffs. They were part of the package when the team was at its highest pinnacle.
Divac and Webber were traded away by the franchise. Martin wanted to be traded. Big difference. As to the drama surrounding him, I think that will be remembered more than his claim to fame of being the “Best player on a crappy team.” I like Kevin Martin a lot, but I don’t think they will ever retire his jersey here. There will not be a lot of warm fuzzy moments to remember, if they do. He is history.
To be the best, you have to do your best. Otherwise, you are only second-rate.
Then thanks for correcting me.
To be the best, you have to do your best. Otherwise, you are only second-rate.
Webber and Divac's jersey retirements
were a somewhat classy nod to the backbone of the franchise’s best years. Kevin Martin was the guy that paddled the sinking ship til a new captain took the oars. I like K-Money, but his jersey has no business being retired in Sacramento regardless of what the rest of his career shapes out to be…
And Webb and Vlade’s jersey retirements would have been MUCH more classy about 5 more years removed from the car wreck that was last season….

Speaking of Hawes,
Did anyone catch him on the Peaches and Lamb show last night? Somehow, as much as I want that kid to succeed, I just don’t think there’s enough mental fortitude there. All his responses were of the homogeneous type when asked about working out this summer, what parts of his game he’s trying to develop etc. The only time he showed any personality was when he was talking about the Sonics leaving Seattle, and Grant did a wonderful job avoiding throwing him any actual tough questions. I was hoping to hear something that inspired me to feel like there’s hope for the kid, but it just wasn’t there….

Sounds like a Palin/ Fox News interview
Or to be fair, a Pelosi/ MSNBC interview… I don’t know what you were expecting from them. What I’m concerned about is that while listening to Peaches, Lamb, and Hawes, Hawes was the one that you questioned to have little mental fortitude. That doesn’t look good for him.

I heard the interview on my commute....
Agree that they were powder puff responses. But I wonder if that’s a strategy depolyed by Hawes and other King’s. I think I would be pretty guarded in that situation given what a synchophant Napier is, not to mention his tendeny to become an un-necessary disruption to locker room chemistry from time to time.

Exactly
I was hoping to hear Spence say he was training with Tim Grover or enlisted in the Pete Newell Big Man Camp this summer (or something along those lines, anyway.) Instead it sounded like he was saying “yeah, I’m working out this summer and looking forward to seeing who we get in the draft to help us.” Kid needs to get hungry if he wants to be legit, but he talks like he’s already there. To quote a once famous horse – “No sir. I don’t like it….”

You would think he would be more hungry since Brockman is taking all the pancakes
If only the Big Carl wasn’t such a good deal, he wouldn’t be able to rely on that so much

It's ironic that Aykis posted this on the same day they launched ESPN Detroit

Straight off the bat, Big Carl and the cow. But this is how I know I did a good job.

The best part for me
is that this whole day I thought it was legit.
Smooth work Aykis.
