I say this because, I don't believe the 76ers want Turner. Doug Collins their new coach, just meet with Andre Iguodala and his agent for 2 hours, telling him how important he thinks he is to Philly. Then you take into account that Dalembert is an expiring contract, and that if the 76ers don't resign him their future Center could be 6'10 F/C Marreese Speights. Plus, Philly has already made it clear that their pick might be available if someone will take Brand and his $51M contract off their hands.
Meanwhile, the Twolfs are having a problem getting Jefferson and Love on the court together, and might lose Darko Milicic who's contract expired this season. David Kahn said at the Draft Lottery telecast that he has concerns about Minny's lack of size on the frontline especially against teams like LA & Portland. So, Minny might be looking to move either Love or Jefferson, especially if they could get a replacement with size. Plus because of his contract, I think they would perfer to move Al.
So, here is one senario which I believe could happen.
Philly gets a healthy replacement for Brand, the 16th pick and they save $9M in salary over the next 3 years. Philly is already over the cap unless Kapono and Green opt out of their contracts which isn't likely, so the #2 pick will put them further over the cap and close to the Luxury tax.
Minny loses Jefferson and one of their 3 first round picks, but with the #2 pick they select Cousins, who is bigger and younger and 1/5 the cost of Jefferson. The Nets are left with Turner or Favors, but Favors would be a great match along side Lopez so I believe that's the way they'd go. Leaving Turner available at #4 to fill Minny's need for a shooter at the 2. Minny ends up paying $9M over 3 years for Brand and Cousins and fills their need for shooting by getting Turner. And, if the Nets decide on Turner, the Twolfs end up with Cousins and Favors which takes care of Kahn's concern about size on the frontcourt plus they don't have to worry about resigning Darko.
There are several other scenarios possible, including the 76ers traded down to someone else willing to take Brand, to the simple case where Minny just picks Cousins outright. But, I truely believe that the least likely scenario is that Cousins falls to the Kings at #5.
