Around SBN: Win or Lose, Boston Celtics' New Big 3 Era A Success

At this point, it's an addiction. Is he an attention whore, or does this stuff still work?

"When questioned about potential physical play in the series, Jackson took his first swing. "We don't have a smackdown mentality," he said. "You might have seen that with [Kevin] Garnett on [Orlando's Dwight] Howard in Game 6 in Boston, where he was smacking Howard's arm and was finally called for an offensive foul. That's not our kind of team. We don't go out there to smack people around. I call it more resiliency. We're a more resilient ball club. We try to stay strong and play hard. But we're going to have to withstand some of that. We're going to have to play through it. We have some guys who are capable of playing to that style in [Derek] Fisher and Ron [Artest] and obviously Kobe [Bryant]. But our big guys are going to have to stand up because that's basically what got the Celtics through Orlando."

We don't smack people around

That’s pussy shit, we straight up elbow them in the face!

That caption is wrong

It should say:

Mike Bibby flagrantly fouls Kobe Bryant’s elbow with a vicious headbutt.

He's just wasting his breath now

Everyone is so over Phil being a referee influencer/intimidator. Did his comments keep Durant off the free throw line? How many carries did they call on Nash? Part of me thinks Phil is just saying it because it’s his reputation, he has to pull something out of his ass to complain about.
I think it’s kind of insulting to his own team and maybe that’s his way to try and motivate Pau and Bynum, who have been getting by most of the playoffs against undersized frontcourts that they should’ve been dominating every night.

Agreed

I like the league finally getting tired of his desperate bull shit where there is none needed. His team is good enough… bleh… (sorry I just threw up in my mouth a little) to make it all the way without his petty low blows.

Phil's saying this out of fear

The Celtics play physical basketball, which the refs are more lenient with during the playoffs. Phil saw Kendrick Perkins and Rasheed Wallace (yeah, Rasheed fuckin’ Wallace) make Dwight Howard their bitch, and he’s scared. Bynum’s knee’s banged up and Pau Gasol has a history of being soft. If they can manhandle Dwight, he has reason to be scared of what they’ll do to his frontline.

That being said, I hate how full of shit he is with this crap and how he pretends he never benefits from the same things, like the picture above. Wasn’t Bibby called for a foul on that play?

I think you may have a point that he is saying this out of fear.

there is no way that the celtics are affected by anything jackson says

all he is doing is adding motivation to a fire that is burning as hot as it was 2 years ago

"I have missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot...and missed. And I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why... I succeed." Michael Jordan.

I think he's trying to affect the referees.

Simply put

Phil is smart enough to know that the competition has already begun. It’s a 7 game series with each game being more important than the next. You better believe he is going to start putting the pressure on the refs early and often.

What would my sigmoidoscopy be without the laxatives?

It’s part of the fabric of the procedure. Enjoy it.

I can see it now on the FanHouse SAT's

Phil Jackson is to Lakers Playoff series as:
A) Laxatives are to colonoscopy
B) DeMarcus Cousins is to red flags
C) PookeyGuru is to extended reply posts
D) All of the above

oh, and another piece of advice: keep the “Hey, I heard this is the procedure where when they talk about the placement of the scope they say there is an asshole at both ends” comment quiet until AFTER the you are no longer in the prone position.

I just hope the Celtics shut him up

There is not one single provocative statement in that paragraph.

If someone is trying to say Jackson is implying that Boston plays dirty, they ought to take a Midol.

I’m not rooting for the Lakers, but this policy of crapping on any and everything Jackson says really only emphasizes that they’ve been beating our asses on the court where it counts. This kind of pissyness won’t put points on the scoreboard, and it makes us look small.

To be honest I like when Phil does this

He understands that the finals have already begun before game 1 tipoff

Come on Andy

It’s Phil – and he mentioned Garnett’s continuous hacking of Dwight Howard until they “finally” called a foul.

I’m not “thinskinned”, I enjoy the entertainment of it. And part of the entertainment of the NBA for me is disliking the Lakers and their coach.

This

I honestly kind of enjoy it and expect it from Phil. But it’s still idiotic. That doesn’t make me think skinned. The fact is, he’s bitching about something that makes no real sense. Did he not watch games 1-3 in the ECF? The Celtics strategy for Howard was that they had 12 fouls to use on Howard between Perkins and Sheed. Yeah, they were a little rough on him, but there were plenty of fouls called and Dwight had to earn it from the line.

With

Thin skinned has nothing to do with it – he comes off as a whiny bitch…a whiny bitch with 10 rings. At some point you have to admit that the forces of nature have fallen mostly in your favor don’t you? This is akin to having a well-to-do individual complain over the total of his Lamborghini service bill. STFU, Phil. You’ve got it pretty good.

Yeah, it is pretty stupid

I get why he does it. He wants to play the mind games with the other team as well as the refs. But it comes off as whiny and shallow
