Sources say the Kings are also still open to trade possibilities, and Detroit and Utah are two teams eager to move up in the draft. The Pistons’ Tayshaun Prince(notes) could be intriguing to the Kings, who are eager to add a veteran small forward to the roster.

I hate this kind of BS. Have they looked at the roster? Oh, and Favors and DMC are supposed to go 1 v 1 in New Jersey, but who cares about that right?

As long as Noc is included in the deal

I could see Prince coming back in a trade. I’d trade Noc/Hawes for Prince.

I would rather give Daonte and Casspi the minutes

Umm... I thought we were officially referring to Voison as the Chick Replacing Amick at the Paper? or CRAP, for short.

by sac_faithful on Jun 13, 2010 7:17 PM PDT up reply actions

He's an expiring in '11

So it would be one year and then Casspi or Donte could take over. Not a bad situation at all.

by nbrans on Jun 13, 2010 7:20 PM PDT up reply actions

a little veteran leadership at the position would help, didn't know he expires next year

I’m for that

Umm... I thought we were officially referring to Voison as the Chick Replacing Amick at the Paper? or CRAP, for short.

by sac_faithful on Jun 13, 2010 7:25 PM PDT up reply actions

I would like to see Prince as a mentor for Donte

So if this went down, the Kings would end up with Monroe and Prince, correct?

by getPGwithbounce on Jun 13, 2010 7:18 PM PDT up reply actions

Well, if Detroit wanted to move up

It might be Noc/Hawes/#5 for Prince/#7

And yeah, then the pick could be Monroe or Whiteside.

by nbrans on Jun 13, 2010 7:26 PM PDT up reply actions

I think this happens only if DMC and Favors are off the board

Umm... I thought we were officially referring to Voison as the Chick Replacing Amick at the Paper? or CRAP, for short.

by sac_faithful on Jun 13, 2010 7:27 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah, true

So Detroit trades up for Johnson at #5 to replace Prince, Kings take Monroe or Whiteside to replace Hawes.

by nbrans on Jun 13, 2010 7:28 PM PDT up reply actions

I think the only way Detroit would do it

is for Cousins. And I would hope we would not do it in that scenario. So, no deal.

by LPKingsFan on Jun 13, 2010 8:56 PM PDT up reply actions

If we trade down..........

Why give up Hawes? Monroe is more of a 4 than a 5.

KINGS WILL BE 10-11 CHAMPIONS

by haze0945 on Jun 13, 2010 7:52 PM PDT up reply actions

It's only moving down two spots

And Prince is way better than Noc and has a better contract. Have to give to get.

by nbrans on Jun 13, 2010 7:55 PM PDT up reply actions

We would be giving the 5th pick.....

They have been shopping Prince & Rip for 2yrs now. & I don’t look for Donte or Casspi to regress next season, so why create another log-jam at the 3.

KINGS WILL BE 10-11 CHAMPIONS

by haze0945 on Jun 13, 2010 8:06 PM PDT up reply actions

Shed Noc's contract to move down just two spots and take a player they would probably take at #5 anyway?

That’s worth Hawes to me. Yeah, there’s a potential logjam problem, but it’s only for once season. I think it’s worth it to get rid of Noc’s contract.

by nbrans on Jun 13, 2010 8:08 PM PDT up reply actions

The only way we take Monroe at 5.........

is if Cousins is already gone. & if that’s they case there’s really no need to do this trade.

KINGS WILL BE 10-11 CHAMPIONS

by haze0945 on Jun 13, 2010 8:16 PM PDT up reply actions

This doesn't make sense to me

I already said that I don’t think this would happen with Cousins on the board. But let’s say Wall/Turner/Favors/Cousins are the first four picks. At #5 the Kings can either take Johnson, who might not be a fit long term, or just reach for Monroe or Whiteside.

Instead the Kings could get the big they might reach for, but also shed Noc and his deal. You give up Hawes, but it’s a big upgrade at SF, Prince is expiring, and you get the player at #7 you might have taken at #5.

by nbrans on Jun 13, 2010 8:20 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah.....

But I still don’t like the Idea of giving up Hawes just yet, especially if we aren’t getting Cousins. That leaves us with JT, Landy, & Monroe. JT would be the biggest body we have, & can barley stay out of foul trouble. So why not keep the 1 true center we have, which is Hawes?

KINGS WILL BE 10-11 CHAMPIONS

by haze0945 on Jun 13, 2010 8:28 PM PDT up reply actions

it doesn't make sense for me

that the Pistons would do this without Cousins at #5. But Dumars’ offseason was baffling last summer, so I guess you never know.

by LPKingsFan on Jun 13, 2010 9:04 PM PDT up reply actions

If there is logic to it

It’s that Detroit comes away with both a young SF (Johnson) and a young C (Hawes), which are their biggest areas of need. But as always who knows what Dumars would be thinking.

by nbrans on Jun 13, 2010 10:41 PM PDT up reply actions

Interesting couple of paragraphs
Cousins had an excellent workout with the Sacramento Kings, grading out as the best shooter to visit Sacramento in the predraft process. He hit 78 percent of his shots in the workout, including a lot of pick-and-pop attempts.

Favors graded out as the far better athlete, but the Kings, who have the No. 5 pick in the draft, believed Cousins was a more advanced player. He showed Sacramento officials more range than they thought he had, consistently hitting the 17-foot jumper. The Kings are considering several players, but Cousins could be difficult to pass over.

Sources say the Kings are also still open to trade possibilities, and Detroit and Utah are two teams eager to move up in the draft. The Pistons’ Tayshaun Prince(notes) could be intriguing to the Kings, who are eager to add a veteran small forward to the roster.

I like how Woj gave more insight into the workout than the beat reporter for the Kings

"For five decades (and counting), these fans have been blessed with West, Baylor, Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Shaq and Kobe. Seven of the 15 best players ever. At some point, the gravy train will end. The Lakers will bottom out like the Knicks did last decade, submarined by bad moves, poor signings and unlucky drafts. Their fans will flee in droves. Jack will pass away. The buzz will be gone. That's how the NBA works -- in a 30-team league, you can't always get lucky, not even if you're a big-market team with deep pockets. I don't know if that day is three years off or 30, but it's coming." Bill Simmons

Ha

Mr. Jones doesn’t ‘do’ weekends. Besides he had a date with the World Cup.

Tayshun Prince is a terrific defensive player, and rebounder. Perfect complementary guy. But he is 30 years old and due 22 million over next two years. I think the way he plays though, he has 3 to 4 good years left, if he can stay healthy.

Joe Dumars seems like a stubborn trade partner. I think he has reputation for overvaluing his players. Doubt anything would happen unless they are motivated by luxury tax. I might give up a future lotto protected #1, but not Spencer.

Trading down two spots to #7 pre-draft is a sucker move. Draft day trades make sense after the picks have been made to ensure the player you want is nabbed.

Something along the lines of Noce + Wesley Johnson #5 for Prince and Whiteside #7 is feasible if Kings determine Whiteside is their guy, and another player to their liking (Favors, DMC) does not fall.

Anything else is possible

but if anyone needs cap relief, it is the Pistons, not us. We are looking to accommodate a disgruntled player, and improve ourselves in the process. With K9 and K-Mart off the books, we have money to spend wisely.

Unless the Pistons absolutely love a player at #5, I don’t see them willing to take on a 2 year/13.5 million contract owed to a guy coming off his worst season for a former All-Star with an expiring contract (1 year/11.1 million). They have enough bad deals on their roster already (Villanueva, Rip, Jason Maxiell)

I would say if Johnson falls to us at #5, that does increase the odds of a trade. Any word of him coming to Sac?

This is all I see him attributing to Favor's agent

The Nets hold the third pick in the draft, and so far Favors’ agent Wallace Prather has been reluctant to let him get matched with the bigger, stronger Cousins on the floor. They worked out together in Sacramento on Saturday, but largely stayed in individual drills.

That’s why TWolves are not interested in seeing DMC. They are trying to get Evan Turner with the #2, and Philly will select either Favors or DMC. So that would leave us with Wes or Monroe
