Kings' Draft Scenarios: Predict Your Reaction
I believe this is every reasonable result for the Kings' No. 5 pick on Thursday.
Your goal should you choose to accept it: give your one-word reaction to each final result as it would play out. I'll start.
A: Ecstatic.
B: Bewildered.
C: Gasping.
D: Hopeful.
E: Emboldened.
Basically, I'm in the tank for DeMarcus Cousins, but I also trust the Kings' front office when it comes to the draft.
Let's hear your reactions.

Cousins is the best offensive big to come out of the draft in a long long time,
if Ron Artest can be the most crucial player in a World Championship win (which he was for game 7) I can put up with 1/2 that craziness for a competitive team.

Do you really consider Beasley a big?
He was terribly overrated and not as “big” as advertised. Listing him at 6-10 should have been a crime. 6-7 tops and a big reason why he hasn’t faired nearly as well as people expected.
Jury is still out on Griffin, but yeah, I would give him an edge over Cousins offensively as both entered the draft. I think Cousins is more of the “bull” though.

Ya, everyone says Beasley is overrated now
Entering the draft he was this all world, scoring machine, rebounding PF with a few character issues that most suggested could be overlooked because the talent was there.
Anyone notice me drawing a parallel?
I'm not getting the same vibe from Cousins
I feel most of Cousins’ attitude concerns are for the most part exaggerated by the media. When I see him talk, I don’t see the person they are painting him out to be. As with Beasley, he seemed much more of an issue, and still has that arrogant demeanor to him.

Besides, Beasley is a true 'tweener'
Cousins is a true Center. That tweener thing catches up to the majority of guys once they go play with the big boys.

His block rate is probably too high to translate, but because of it, his PER is higher than Beasley and slighlty less than Griffin, I forgot how ridiculous Griffins shooting numbers are. I guess it helps to dunk a lot.

You forgot Option "F"
Which of course is the option that represents the scenario in which right before Petrie solidifies his pick, alien beings, lost in space, land in NY in order to ask for directions from a cabbie, who tells them to “Eff off, will ya , buddy?” triggering a full-scale invasion leading to immediate massive casualties and only pockets of human resistance left to fight for our species. The results of the 2010 Draft are never known. What is known is that General Gavin Maloof played a key role in the Battle of Granite Bay.

a) we draft DeMarcus my RA goes away for 5 minutes and I dance a jig
b) I’m going to become a fan of the clips cuz they are the only franchise besides Minnie dumb enough to do this

e) I will live with it
My draft scenario is this: If we don’t draft Cousins or Favors I am going to consider this a wasted draft but I’m guessing if the Kings draft Wes Johnson I’ll come around faster than Pookie did on Reke (next morning)

My guess for Thursday
The Kings leave the draft with AFA with their first pick and Ryan Richards, Brackins, Varnardo, or another big with the 33rd, assuming they keep the pick and that they don’t take Cousins.
I feel indifferent about it at this point
Something tells me the Kings are almost locked into Monroe cuz DMC & Favors are going to be gone by the time the Kings select at 5.

"C" makes very little sense
at least, based on the players the Kings have been working out. I know the chart is for laughs (“I get jokes”) but seriously, why would the Kings draft someone else with Cousins on the board at #5 since they would almost certainly be fielding multiple offers for that pick?
To do that they would have to consider some other particular player head and shoulders superior to not only DeMarcus Cousins but pretty much any other comparable player, plus whatever they could gain by trading down a couple of slots.
Seems pretty unlikely to me.

I appreciate the compliment, BTE
(although if you’ve checked my little Sactown bio you know that I’m old enough to have owned a Geoff Petrie basketball card when I was a kid.)
Anyway, and as you might be aware, I’m not a fan of Cousins. At all.
And I’m fairly certain that the Kings will not be drafting him. Which unfortunately is pretty close to the opposite of how you seem to be quoting me. (You left out some pretty important stuff between those ellipses).
What I was saying is that the Kings would probably trade the #5 if Cousins was on the board, since they could still get one of several of players they seem to be interested in by trading down. That would seem to be the smart move, and I do think GP is a pretty smart guy.
