I have to admit
New Jersey is scaring me. They seem to be high on Johnson but don’t know if that is a smokescreen. If they choose Favors then Minnesota would choose Cousins and the Kings are screwed.

So, Johnson a #5
is Not Good? then it would be Monroe #5, Not Great, but Good.
Statistics are like a girl in a bikini. They show a lot, but not everything.
I'm not the biggest Johnson fan
He’s already 23 and may have peaked already. I’m also not the biggest Monroe fan because he’s like another Spencer Hawes.

23 argument is beyond stupid.
So you want to wait 2 or 3 years so that a guy can give you W. Johnson’s production then when Johnson can do it now?

The "may have peaked already" argument is no less mystifying.
The kid has a tremendous work ethic. There’s no way he’s peaked already.

I don't have a problem with Johnson. I'm just afraid that Petrie will pick Monroe over Johnson.

so you want johnson despite having garcia, casspi and greene?
At USC we're not snobs, we're just better than you.
I do...
I believe Garcia can play some 2, and Three. I like Casspi at the Three. and Donte can play all three. but basically, none have cemented a solid Starting Job at #2
if Johnson can do that… then Cisco is odd man out. We could use a Sharpshooter with Skillz to D up other 2 guards.

all three of those Wings are solid Bench Players.

Casspi is in his second year and still made pretty decent #’s last year even through the exhaustion..we dont know if hes gonna be more of a bench guy or not
Judgment day is coming!
As for Wesley over Monroe, I want the BPA and that would be Johnson.
Kings can trade Garcia.

I know, thats what fuels my Fear
with Johnson and Monroe on board, GP will take Monroe.

no. the kings can not trade garcia because no one will take that contract.
At USC we're not snobs, we're just better than you.
last year it was dubbed one of the five worst in the nba by espn.
no one will take that contract until it is expiring.
At USC we're not snobs, we're just better than you.
1st off ESPN sucks
they also said Beno was way over paid, and Tyreke was jerry stackhouse, and no one likes playing with Tyreke, and…..
I think you can remove the "way" at this point
But certainly overpaid.
"Matt Cain's better at this than I've ever been at anything in my life. He's better at this than you'll ever be, at anything. Matt Cain has a gift. He has a gift, and when you acknowledge that, then maybe we will have something to talk about."
I disagree.
Playing like he did two years ago he was overpaid. Playing like he did last season he’s got a pretty darned reasonable contract.
A lonely Kings fan in a sea of gold and purple...
i prefer his contract to cisco's...
but he had a good year, a terrible year, then a good year. so whats next? haha
At USC we're not snobs, we're just better than you.
Beno had a great season last year.
I don’t have a problem with his contract.
As for Garcia, it will probably be a matter of “packaging” him with other considerations to trade him.

cisco's contract is horrible. too long. too much money. too bad for the kings.

Its Monroe that does not excite me. he just does not get my blood flowing.

New Jersey scares me
because they have a chance at having a damn good team this coming year. If they pick Johnson and land a free agent like Boozer or A’ma’r’e to go along with their current team they could be a good team for years to come.

What basketball players do you think would make the best soccer players?
I’m going with Iverson in midfield, Lebron at striker and Shannon Brown at goalie
I don't know anything about soccer
but I’d put Josh Smith at goalie, cause of combo of length and athleticism
Screw you Knicks! LBJ to the Kings!!!
Lebron just cause he's a freak athlete
Deron Williams has enough strength and speed to be a Rooney type “bruising” midfielder, and I’d probably go with Dalembert for goalie. There’s no goaltending in soccer.

Draft Day 2009: I was in a Detroit theater about to watch the Hangover when my cousin texted me telling me who the Suns had drafted. I texted him back asking him who the F*ck that was. I shed a tear and told myself: The Suns are going to suck next year and Amar'e is going to be traded and my life ruined. 12 Months later to the day I am looking back at the Suns incredible playoff run to the Western Conference Finals.
Agree with this
Especially Deron. And I know Nash plays soccer already but he’s pretty good from what I hear. Playing soccer actually helps him be such a good passer… easier to see the angles and plays developing

ok team USA
because im sure the NBA has plenty of euro players that would dominate, for example Hedo i guess had world class recognition for his soccer skills
anyway, i would imagine NFL players would make better soccer players, but i would take LeBron on defense, all crosses, all corners would never get passed LeBron
for Goalie, you dont want to pick anybody too tall, because then they wont be able to get the low balls, i would pick a NFLer to play goal keeper, somebody like Chad Johnson
anyway, fun thing to think about

He's undersized for a foward
but has excellent footwork and could give us scoring down the stretch…
Donovan's skills
Donavan is an explosive player with a ton of upside! Although he is a little older he has tremendous vision and is a great playmaker! He is a gamer and a great floor general! Think Kidd
I thin he's more Nash like because he's a great scorer as well.

Granger and Johnson only have max deals because NBA GM’s are idiots.

I'm familiar with johnson's game, and he is overrated but granger is the real deal
He hustles and plays with heart; I expect great thing from him in the coming years. Granger’s game reminds me a little bit of a less effective kobe bryant through the same point of their careers. I know a lot of you will disagree but the statistic are similar

whereas kobe scored more, assisted more, shot a higher percentage from the field and ft, but granger rebounds more, turns the ball over less, blocks more shots, shoots a better 3pt%,

Statistics are like a girl in a bikini. They show a lot, but not everything.
Short answer: Probably not
Long answer: Brandon Roy was 22 when he played his first NBA game. People get too hung up on how “old” a 23-year-old is.
Never forget: I am a complete idiot
that would be terrible for us. i hope this trade doesnt happen.
At USC we're not snobs, we're just better than you.
Granger is a star
Tyreke and Granger would be a really strong and young 1-2 punch.
How about Beno (they really want a point guard), Omri (the future) and the 5 for Granger and the 10th, who we use on Xavier Henry. Then we sign Felton (a real point guard) in free agency or get a suitable backup that can spell Tyreke for 10-12 minutes a night.
I’m not really dying to give up Beno, but to get Granger it would be worth it and we would get rid of Beno’s contract. Granger is better than just about every major free agent, and none of those guys is going to come to Sac anyway.
"I know we certainly gave up a lot to get him, but we do have other players on the perimeter who we can plug in. We haven’t had anybody who we feel is a go-to guy in the post. So we gave up a lot to get a lot, and we’re real excited about adding Carl." - Paul Westphal
I don't get this
Why would they give up Granger and the 10th for an unproven rookie
"Children want what they want when they want it." ... Andy Sims
I'd give up the 5, one of Omri and Donte, Beno, and 33th for that package
Not sure it’s enough though
"Children want what they want when they want it." ... Andy Sims
Maybe even add Landry
And that’s maybe too much
"Children want what they want when they want it." ... Andy Sims
Reboot?
They are beyond broke and hopeless. I have no clue why. If they do that trade though, their payroll after this season will be about 4 dollars

Top 7.
1) John Wall
2) Evan Turner
3) Derrick Favors
4) Wesley Johnson
5) DeMarcus Cousins
6) Ekpe Udoh
7) Greg Monroe
Book it.

Agreed
Except for the Udoh part. Nelson loves centers who can pass and Monroe fits that description.

I would still have gone with Cousins
I realize I might be a little in the minority there. I think Cousins and Turner are close enough in talent that you go to the tie-breaker in who fits a bigger need. As of right now, Turner is a ball-dominant guard with a shaky outside shot. Unless I were convinced he could become an very good outside threat, I go with Cousins.

I think Cousins would be even better in the triangle
Could both post up and operate out of high post
he would fit
great with them.
And that’s exactly why they aren’t going to pick him.
Jokes aside, I see Kahn going for more popular picks in front of him (Johnson, Favors and Cousins) even if he is the real guy who could fit right in their lineup

I just know it is an offense that involves passing and ball rotation; the key is to have passing big men that know where the ball is supposed to be. basically, you have an inside threat
with two perimeter threats

Very very very short version
Emphasizes ball movement and different options for passing (think two guys on perimeter and one in post and all moving based on what the defense is doing).

Oh, if we didnt have stat i'd want him

Pritchard fired an hour before the draft.
Truth is, on talent alone, and nothing else, I’d rank DMC 1st.

The rush for Bayless trade
That took Bayless from us, and forced us to take the 25th best player in the draft.

"I know we certainly gave up a lot to get him, but we do have other players on the perimeter who we can plug in. We haven’t had anybody who we feel is a go-to guy in the post. So we gave up a lot to get a lot, and we’re real excited about adding Carl." - Paul Westphal
Thanks for breaking this.

Mine didn't have access either
But I was able to log on using my home provider. Did you get the screen popup that gave you the option?

It only gives me the option to report that there is interest in my provider becoming affiliated
The other problem is that I can’t even log in and take advantage of my home’s provider because of a proxy blocker that blocks me out of logging into ESPNs servers.
A double whammy.

I hope LeBron walks into MSG to steal all the attention away from the draft itself.

Hey, someone answer this for me...
…what happens if the team on the clock doesn’t select a player within those 5 minutes?
Um, they have to say SOMETHING
"Seriously guys, why are they pissed off? Because of the rape... are you sure? That doesn't add up." - Daniel Tosh on Kobe Bryant
Depends how many timeouts they have left
"Children want what they want when they want it." ... Andy Sims
In the NFL they get skipped
And then the next team gets to pick, then they’re on the clock again. So basically they move down one spot. Not sure if its the same in the NBA but i’d get so.
The NBA: "Where 27 free throws happens"
I think it was Kevin Williams. They didn't really miss out.
Got a dominant lineman at a lower salary. Although IIRC he still demanded the 6th pick’s slot $$.
When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome again. True story.

Isn't it like the NFL where the pick goes to the next team, a la Minnesota Vikings
