Had Cousins slipped past the Kings, the agent for Cousins would’ve made it clear to Warriors that his client didn’t want to play there.

Makes sense
Lame duck coaching staff and front office…they aren’t sure if they are keeping Ellis or moving him. Lots of question marks on the roster?
OTOH, they have a rabid fanbase and the new owners are going to have deep pockets. Might not be a bad place to be once the corpse of Don Nelson retires to Hawaii permanently.

I guess rabid could be construed as a synonym for...
…delusional.

Totally with you man
I think this is a 2nd straight year of the best possible player dropping to the Kings. So happy.
Grandmaster of the "Never let AnotherStupidSN forget what a Sham-Wow is" Order and Originator of the "Brock Ness Monster".
Tyreke was hardly a popular pick. It payed off, but I didn’t think it was going to at the time. We’ll see how this plays out.

This is the 2nd staright year had we gotten our original draft position
We may have very well taken the same player as to where we fell.
Tyreke could have easily been our #1 target last year
Cousins could have easily been our #2 target this year

I wanted him even as high as number 2 if we got it. I hope that he doesn’t disappoint me or Sacramento.

lol @ ESPNB having Dalembert has a starter
Pfftt, He’s coming off the bench.
"It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns. Also he got a race car. Is any of this getting through to you?"
I'm not surprised
Dalembert is a vet, defensive guy. I think he starts. That’s what Westphal really wanted.
Grandmaster of the "Never let AnotherStupidSN forget what a Sham-Wow is" Order and Originator of the "Brock Ness Monster".
I think Thompson and Landry start in the beginning.
Truth is, on talent alone, and nothing else, I’d rank DMC 1st.

Cousins can be a major star.
PookeyGuru- June 23, 2010.
I think Dalembert Landry.
Just cause of that defensive factor.
Grandmaster of the "Never let AnotherStupidSN forget what a Sham-Wow is" Order and Originator of the "Brock Ness Monster".
I don't know...
Thompson is the future, Dalembert is a nice rental but I think he comes off the bench as a stopper. Eventually I see Cousins and Thompson with Landry off the bench.
Truth is, on talent alone, and nothing else, I’d rank DMC 1st.

I think its great
That we have no idea who starts in the front court next year!
"So your a Yank? Thats ok, were all just people. People are all the same. But we like Canadians better." - Guy at the grocery store. "wow"
i hope the players stay happy
unhappy players never stay, i would say thompson sit because i think he will be starting in the future. just make it clear to him that the kings have a bright future and that he is part of it. sit for awhile and when they call his name to be ready.
This is my ideal situation
I also would love to see JT/Cousins start together, that would just be a beastly front court. Then Landry can come off and produce very well off the bench. Just as he did for the Rockets.
Dalembert I see getting 15-20 minutes max.
"It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. Obviously not RIGHT away. Cousins needs time to mesh in with the team and get some experience.

Dalembert will start.
Probably with Landry.
I think Landry is extremely underrated.
He is a starter, to me. Better than Thompson. He has a more versatile offensive game.
Landry isn't underrated anymore
People know he’s good.
But as a starter, JT played better in the JT/Landry combo.

just because you don't start doesn't mean you're good...
BJax could have started on many teams in his prime but he was our 6th man….
I think Landry falls in the same category
Yeah, I could care less how Landry rebounds now...
He will be surrounded by rebounding Gods- Dally, JT, Cousins, Brockman. Wow, best rebounding team in the league.
Truth is, on talent alone, and nothing else, I’d rank DMC 1st.

2 offensive studs in Coousins and Landry
Two defenders in Cousins and Dalembert, 3 defensive rebounders in JT, Cousins and Dalembert, 4 offensive rebounders – all of them and Brockman.

"So your a Yank? Thats ok, were all just people. People are all the same. But we like Canadians better." - Guy at the grocery store. "wow"
JT and Landry will not start
both at PFs
that would leave both true centers on the bench
Thompson is by FAR the best passer of the group.
The Kings are still going to run some offense through Thompson IMO. Dalembert and Landry are both suspect passers.
Truth is, on talent alone, and nothing else, I’d rank DMC 1st.

JT is smaller than both Cousins and Dally....
I want JT at PF….but either Cousins or Dally at center
The bigger question
Is after DMC gets a year of exprience, what do we do with Sammy and Landry next year as UFA? If DMC turns out, I doubt we try and resign Dalambert. I think a starting combo of JT/DMC with Landry getting 28 minutes a game off the bench sounds nice.
let's worry about that next season

Fun highlight Video of Cousins
I had never seen this one before but wow this shows skill of his I hadn’t seen much of. Ball handling? Passing??
Kings rule! (They are royalty - right?)
You didn't know that?

Lol
He didn’t handle much at Kentucky. He just got it out to Wall and Bledsoe.

The few times I saw him I saw the same thing.

Just shows he can be coached
He did listen and stay in the low post most of the time.

They called the first eight picks of the draft in order before Hayward was chosen. They had him going 16th.
"I know we certainly gave up a lot to get him, but we do have other players on the perimeter who we can plug in. We haven’t had anybody who we feel is a go-to guy in the post. So we gave up a lot to get a lot, and we’re real excited about adding Carl." - Paul Westphal
Cousins
Did I say bust? I meant best. :)
I certainly wish him the best now that he’s a King. And there is no doubt that the Kings have slowly but surely improved their frontcourt starting with the drafting of Hawes. I only say that because they were able to flip Hawes into Dalembert. Then JT, the trade for Landry and now Cousins. It will be interesting to see how that impacts our production in the paint next season.

I think we're on our way to being good again.
Life is every mammal's journey from very very wet to very very dry.
Tyreke is really great
Cousins didn’t want to play for Minny, didn’t want to play for GS, but did want to play for the Kings….I guess it was attracted by the chance to play a lot of minutes in a team with reigning RoY

Go Kings!
He used "The Secret"
to get drafted @5 with all that purple he was wearing!

Stunned and stoked.
This is the best we could have hoped for and we definitely got one of the top 3 players in the draft. Maybe even top 2. Maybe the best, and we’ll see soon starting in Summer League.
2 years running we’ve gotten a beast at the position.
This.
I was happy with the Dalembert trade, but now I want Sam D to just get lost.
Life is every mammal's journey from very very wet to very very dry.
Not me. 1 year of Sam is going to be OK
because a veteran presence could help us close out games. We’re a very inexperienced team remember — least experienced in NBA last year.
This.
Why?
It ain’t like DMC is a finished product.

I just got back from the Kings Draft Party at Arco Arena.
The overwhelming majority of people wanted Cousins. There was a collective cheer when the Timberwolves took Wesley Johnson, because everyone knew that Cousins would be available for the fifth pick. Of course, I couldn’t be more pleased at the selection.

Cool!
I went as well with my girlfriend. It got really loud when KJ was asking whether the crowd wanted Cousins, huh?

Yes, it was very clear who most people were there for.
It was interesting to see the community behind Cousins.

I bet it would have been grand to be around a bunch of Kings fans going berserk! What else happened there? Did you get free tickets?

All Cousins needs to do is clean up his attitude and I'll change my perspective on you.
Chris Andersen could be in a porno with his 'stache. Too bad he still wouldn't know how to box out.

If we add Jordan Crawford @ #33
This will be our best draft ever(and we got ’Reke and Casspi last year).

Suddenly
A suspect frontcourt is strong and deep. Time to add a backcourt gunner/defender. Where’s Dougie-Fresh when you need him?
