He was also considering Phoenix, and that was his #1 choice.

I likey likey

Derozan/13th pick and Hedo for Noc and Cisco. Although I’d prefer we get Derozan, Hedo, AND the 13th pick but I don’t think Colangelo would go for that.

I’m just afraid that Petrie might pull the trigger on a bad heads-up swap.

Certainly fits the ballhandler who can shoot profile.
Derozan or a pick initially seemed asking for too much, but then the length of Hedo’s deal is so ugly it’s a wash.

Plus when you factor in his age as well

But Vlade was 30 when he came to Sacramento and still managed to have some very good years here.

by Aykis16 on Jun 8, 2010 7:42 AM PDT up reply actions

I do it

Sure his contract is long, but Derozan is a real talent and I love Hedo’s game. Noc and Cisco would have to go if it was me.

Hedo is a perfect countpoint to Tyreke and I guess I still like the old Kings style of a passing game. If you have willing and able passers all around the court then you can’t go too far wrong.

The real question is whether or not the Kings are going to completely morph and change or just get stronger defensively while maintaining their all players passing game.

I didn't major in Common F-cking Sense, but ...

by MustangMBS on Jun 8, 2010 8:43 AM PDT up reply actions

Pretty big difference between a big and a wing though, in terms of aging

And Hedo isn’t exactly known for his conditioning regimen. Just about the only way I see Hedo aging gracefully is if he bulks up to the extent that he could play as a power forward. He’s got the height, and if he could transition into a Sam Perkins-type power forward bombing threes and not giving too much on defense I could see him extending his career a few years.

by nbrans on Jun 8, 2010 8:51 AM PDT up reply actions

I don't think age will matter too much

with Turk. His game isn’t dependent on athletisim, or speed. Those are the only 2 things that age take away. at least from a basketball standpoint.

Still, I don’t touch that contract.

Age matters ESPECIALLY because his game isn't dependnet on athleticism

It’s not like he can lose a step and still be fairly athletic for his position, like Vince Carter. You saw what happened this past season – Hedo was wildly ineffective. Unless he moves to the PF spot he’s going to be reduced to a jump shooter who can’t guard anyone, and there’s not really much use for that.

I had the same thought

It’s not like any of his buddies are still here. Plus, didn’t his wife supposedly nix the Portland deal because she wanted to be in a bigger city? Maybe the Clippers will take him, they have money. I dunno, I love me some Hedo, but it seems risky to bring him here if he’s going to just be disgruntled again after a year or two (or less) with a bunch of money still owed to him and us needing to start extending our own youngins.

I see this going down for one reason: Petrie wants Hedo back

I can understand wanting to shed Hedo’s salary, but to take on two other bad contracts in return? However, this could be another post-draft trade where Petrie says “we’ll take on Hedo for whoever you picked at 13 and DeRozan”

Maybe we then flip Hedo to Orlando for Gortat and Redick with a “Enjoy the 2011 Finals” card?

Sounds good to me

At #33 we’re not likely to get anything close to a “complete player” anyways, and personally I’d rather take a flier on a guard/wing who at least can score the ball than on a big who was a good rebounder or shotblocker in college but maybe they’re undersized for the NBA or are completely unable to score.

By the way

Raptors HQ (The SBN Blog for Toronto B-Ball) had these trade ideas:

A couple ideas though that might work for both teams:

1) The Raps take back Andres Nocioni’s unruly deal and a player like Donte Green (who Toronto worked out before the 2008 draft incidentally) as a throw in to make the salaries work, but swap picks in this year’s draft. Toronto would get the fifth pick, something it sounds like they’re trying to do as is, and Sacramento would still get a solid prospect at 13.

2) The Raps still take Nocioni, but if Sacto doesn’t want to swap picks, maybe they’d be willing to move Jason Thompson, who hasn’t exactly solidified himself as the Kings’ starting 4 or 5.

Do not go over there and attack them for it (unless you can argue reasonably), as fans do have the tendency to overrate their own players, but I do think both of those deals would be absolutely atrocious for the Kings. My response to this:

On your #1 deal, the Kings take on an aging player in Turkoglu for 4 more years, while Nocioni’s last year is a team option, is for less years, and for less money. The Kings also give up a young guy with a lot of potential, and then to top it all off they swap picks from 5th to 13th? How are the Kings NOT getting screwed here? The Raptors really have no leverage at all in this business. Hedo has stated he wants out of Toronto and he has a horrible contract nobody wants.

On the 2nd deal, the Kings still lose out on a prospect with a lot of potential. He wasn’t starting because Carl Landry is better. JT by himself had a higher PER and better statistics than Turkoglu did this year, fills a need for the Kings, and is only entering his 3rd year.

If anything, the Raptors are going to have to be the ones who give up talent (in all likelihood Derozan or the #13 pick) in order to get rid of Hedo’s contract. Like I said, no real leverage for the Raps here.

Apparently they don't understand how trades in the NBA work

Hedo doesn’t want to be in Toronto. Toronto no longer wants Hedo. Other teams know this. The only way they dump him is by getting screwed in a deal somehow.

My favorite part is that they think Noc has a worse deal than Hedo's

So the Kings are the ones who should to sweeten the pot. Solution: throw in Donte and oh yeah why don’t we swap picks while we’re at it.

BRILLIANT!

by nbrans on Jun 8, 2010 9:15 AM PDT up reply actions   1 recs

Seriously

Hedo’s stats this year: 74 games, 30.7 minutes, 11.3 Points, .409 FG%, .374 3P%, 4.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.7 turnovers, 3.0 fouls.

Noc’s stats this year: 75 games, 19.7 minutes, 8.5 points, .399 FG%, .386 3P%, 3.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists, .9 turnovers, 2.1 fouls.

More importantly: Noc with only 2 years left and a team option that is unlikely to be picked up. Those two years are worth 13.5 million. Meanwhile, Hedo has 3 years left with an additional year as a player option that he’s almost guaranteed to exercise. Those 4 years are worth 43.8 million. Not to mention that while Noc’s contract declines in value, Hedo’s rises.

I do love Hedo’s game, though.

put me in, Coach

by LaBradford on Jun 8, 2010 9:24 AM PDT reply actions

Why/Why Not

Why not:

*He’s expensive
*He’s 31
*He basically gave up on his current team
*He takes valuable playing time from Omri and Donte

Why you make the trade:

*Hedo’s a great passer. He’ll help our offense keep from getting stagnant and can help Tyreke out with some of the playmaking
*His age may not be a huge issue due to his style of play
*With him comes either a pick or DeMar DeRozan. I have trouble saying no to youngsters, kind like Michael Jackson… too soon?

My personal opinion is this: We’d basically be extending Noc’s contract but getting a better player. However, his age and his newfound laziness bother me. If I’m Petrie I take the deal if its lopsided in our favor. If Toronto offers Hedo, DeRozan, and the 13th pick, or a future first rounder, I’m in. If not, I don’t think its worth it.

His age may not be a huge issue due to this style of play?

They guy can’t rebound, is slows, can’t play defense, and at times takes really questionable shots. Just because his one asset (passing) isn’t necessarily tied to age doesn’t mean age won’t matter.

Hedo, Derozen, & #12 for Noce & Cisco is not asking too much

Hedo’s contract is just as bad as Elton Brand’s.

Nocioni can contribute similar to Hedo stats-wise & add some much needed toughness. Also his contract expires in 2 seasons unlike Hedo’s 4 more seasons.

Garcia is better than Derozan at this point & will contribute more while again adding some much needed toughness. His contract is long but not anywhere close to as bad as Hedo’s. He is also only 27 or 28 & should have a career year next season.

Hedo has forced them into a bad spot & we might be the only team willing to take him. Just like the Webber deal it won’t be good for either sides but necessary.

I like the idea of

…getting rid of Noc and Cisco and swapping the 33 for 13. Obtaining Hedo, DeRozan would be a plus for the Kings. Hedo possesses a game that is a great fit for the Kings as they now stand. He could become, dare I say it, the Robert Horry for us. A guy with length and acceptable defense, who hits the bomb when you need it. DeMar is the athletic presence the team seeks for the future and has nothing but positive upside. Take a big at #5 (Cousins/Monroe), and then get a solid two at #13.

Agree

Good points about Cisco’s leadership function. But this is also a positive for Toronto. On the other hand, just the thought of teams trying to guard DeMar and Reke, especially after Reke develops his outside shot, makes one…well…salivate?…for lack of a better expression. Two guys with exceptional scoring ability, kicking it out to Hedo or Donte? Sounds like a plan. Landry, JT, DeMarcus/Monroe, Spencer rotating off the bench with the 13th pick and Beno. Playoff team in a year or so.

Does Cisco seem like he would be the perfect partner next to Reke? Good shooter, defender, & ballhandler. I always thought that the only thing holding him back, was that we already had a star 2-guard in K-mart. So now whats the problem?

Reke, Cisco, Greene, Landry, Hawes

I thought last year would've been Cisco's year

Damn that physioball.

Don't get me wrong

I like Cisco too for the same reasons. But for the 13th pick, we need to give something up. Also, I have this gnawing feeling that we might have seen the best we are going to see of Mr. Garcia. I don’t want to believe that, but it may be true. DeRozan has phenomenal upside, I think.

Last season really set him back

I have a soft spot for Cisco. His leadership, intensity, & swagger fits the new Kings very well. I would be sad to see him go but getting rid of Noce, adding DeRozan, #13, & Hedo(in that order) would be too good to pass up.

I love beating dead horses.

Actually for a guard Cisco is just coming into his 'prime' year or three age wise.

I always thought that too.

But it seems like the overall package is something less than a starter.
You could say Garcia is the poor man’s perfect naPG partner.

Derozan

Would be the 2 of the future. He is really talented, and would fit nicely next to Reke. At 13 we would have so many options we could just take BPA. Bradley anyone?

I want Derozan

I think Draft Net Compared Derozan to Kobe last year, and I would trade the #33rd pick , Garcia ,noci , for The 13th pick , hedo , Derozan in a Heart beat. I love the hedo coming to Sacramento, I really do feel Hedo will play his heart out for the Kings , it’s the Team who Drafted Him. Derozan has alot of potential. I would pull the Trigger in that deal.

Its a little confused

some are saying we’d have to swap the #5 for that #13 as part of the deal, others just toss in the #33.

If it was just the #33 – I might do it as well

I'm not happy

about bringing in someone who got a major contract, didn’t deliver, then becomes disgruntled and wants to leave the team…

What happens if he’s benched consistently in fourth quarters in favor of Greene or Casspi, because he can’t defend at all? He’ll be disgruntled and whisper to ‘friends’ at Yahoo Sport that he loves to return to Orlando?

I like the guy, love his BB IQ, but no thanks.

Maybe

We can get Hedo, but do something too get the #13 and maybe trade that and our 1st to the sixers or something like that?

Maybe something like this

Evans or Beno

Turner or Evans (if they pick turner)

Hedo/Casspi/Greene

Landry/Favors (if we pick him)

Hawes/JT

I am assuming we trade noc and cisco and don’t get derozan.

Won’t happen most likely but it would be nice.

How about this trade:

We give:

  1. Pick
    A. Nocioni
    S. Hawes
    D. Greene

We get:
A.Bargnani
H. Turkoglu
D. Derozan
