Too much ugly in Morrison

I’d be ok if he stays in the locker room until needed.

There are some guys smarter than me, some guys better looking, I take comfort in the fact that there is no guy that is both.

and it cost 800k

which in NBA terms, is a few cents. He gave us some quality minutes, but I don’t see him sticking anywhere. Maybe a team with a really weak front court can use him for bench minutes, like the Raptors.

by VenomySnicket on Jul 14, 2010 4:32 PM PDT up reply actions

Not bad option for the dollar.

He should be really cheap and supply another shooter off the bench. I would hope that this doesn’t stop the team from signing both Thompson and Landesberg.

Truth is, on talent alone, and nothing else, I’d rank DMC 1st.

Free agent splash

Is smaller than expected… How much under the cap are we expected to be once we fill some spots? I’m not opposed to going cheap while we are rebuilding. Save the money so we can resign the young talent we need to keep when we are in better contention for the playoffs.

Horrible IMO

PW constantly says that the key to staying on the floor is guarding the opposition, AM doesnt guard, has never guarded, and probably will never guard anyone. We dont need a guy to come in and not make anyone better

Morrison has drawn a lot of interest

He worked out in Las Vegas for the Clippers, Bulls, Wizards, Cavaliers, Celtics and Spurs.

"I have missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot...and missed. And I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why... I succeed." Michael Jordan.

If the first hand accounts I heard are any indication, most all NBA players that smoke do so throughout the NBA season as well. It’s the vice of choice because they can’t drink…although I’ve seen a fair share of drunk players the night before and after games.

Within that rubric, you will find Adam in the WCC dominating, but you will never see him play ahead of OMRI

by Exhibit G on Jul 14, 2010 4:40 PM PDT up reply actions

2 things

Kobe has taken 3829 3 pointers, AM has taken 375, so its pointless to compare the two, the sample sizes are far to different. Second, Kobe has never been known as a 3 point shooter, he is a scorer. so thats pointless once again to compare the 2 players

by edm7 on Jul 14, 2010 11:46 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah to a certain degree that is pretty obvious

but when looking at an average, it should not matter whether you have a sample of 3829 or 1000. Both averages will be very similar, with the obvious delta caused by any unexpected deviation. if the average changes drastically (more then the Standard Deviation) when using a larger sample size then it is not an accurate average to begin with.

obviously there needs to be a significant/relevant sample size to start with. I do not think that a guy who shoots 1/2 from the 3pt line is a career 50% shooter.

by mbcarval on Jul 14, 2010 6:10 PM PDT up reply actions

That's ultimately the question

Is 375 shots a decent sample size? That’s a bit out of my realm, I’m more of a baseball guy (on the statistical side).

by otis29 on Jul 14, 2010 6:18 PM PDT up reply actions

Per 36 minute stats are your friend

Casspi 1.8 turnovers per 36 minutes
Morrison 1.9 turnovers per 36 minutes

Morrison’s first season in the league he average 2.0 per 36. His worst season was 08-09 when he had 2.5 turnovers per 36 minutes.

Not a dramatic difference like you might expect, but there is nothing to suggest Morrison takes better care of the ball. As for bobbled passes, if he controls them, they aren’t turnovers.

OMFG!!!

Dude… basketball-reference.com

You can look at a player’s stats adjusted to what they would be if they played 36 minutes per game. This allows you to compare players’ stats that don’t play the same number of minutes.

And you’re really making me laugh now.

Never forget: I am a complete idiot

by Exhibit G on Jul 14, 2010 4:49 PM PDT up reply actions

You're kidding right?

Technically stats such as points per game or rebounds per game measured over a season aren’t commited. Tyreke averaged 20/5/5. He didn’t put up 20/5/5 every night though. Sometimes he had more points or more assists, sometimes less. That’s what averages are for. Per 36 minutes takes those averages and adjusts them to help compare players.

#vfettkefordraft

by vfettke on Jul 14, 2010 4:51 PM PDT up reply actions

Well then

If you’re going to go with the per game stats, then Casspi kills him in every other category. And his turnovers are only slightly more than Morrison.

So are those other stats irrelevant?

Please stop, you are making yourself look so bad. How old are you, have you ever discussed basketball with anyone intelligent. You will hopefully learn that in life you have to have evidence to win an argument. If per 36 were not an appropriate stat, then why does every major BBALL site have the stat available. Do you know what a true shooting% is, do you know what +/- is? Go learn the game then come back and talk about it

Let’s just get Bird, Magic, Kareem, Shaq, MJ, Byron Russel (bahahaha), Morrison and Kobe into a 1-1 competition.

Just to decide who is the Greatest of all time!

That would be the Title "Greatest NBA Career"

for instance, who would win a 1on1 game Shaq vs Jordan.

Even though Shaq is huge, I would still say Jordan because I figure Jordan could probably steal the ball a few times when Shaq backs him down.

However, Shaq has no chance at guarding Jordan.
