We should've kept him

I hope Brock has an awesome career with milwaukee but we shouldn’t have let him go… I felt that he could’ve been a scot pollard kind of guy of the bench for us but I hope this trade doesn’t come back to haunt us…

The Kings extended the qualifying offer

Looks like he was looking for a better situation. Don’t think the Kings wanted to trade him

I'm not sure that it was a better situation...

According to Larry Coon:

Sign-and-trade contracts must be for three years or longer, but only the first season of the contract must be guaranteed.

The Kings were not ready to commit the estimated cash or the years for Brockman. They would love to have kept him around but this works out best for the player and the team. I wish nothing but the best for Brockman and in a sense, I blame Sean Singletary and Patrick Ewing Jr. for being so worthless the year before. If it weren’t for those two, the Kings might have signed Brockman to a 2 year, league minimum deal and we wouldn’t be in this situation.

The world is not your Trade Machine.

if Bogut can be healthy. Otherwise 5th behind Hawks.

Highest I see them is 5

Ive got the Heat, Celtics, and Magic above them.

Then I really like the Bulls this year, they have a great coach this year and made some low money (for this year’s market) acquisitions surrounding their big splash in Boozer. They have a really good team this year.

Derrick Rose is severely underrated.

This guy belongs in the top tier of point guards. I expect him to have a huge year this season, and even to be in the discussion (Top 7) for MVP.

My disagreement has nothing to do with Rose

I think it’s premature to think he’ll be an MVP candidate, in my opinion, but he’s a helluva player.

They’ll be good there in the east, but I think they’ll disappoint again. I also think Thibodeau will be a disaster.

Bulls roster

PG- Derrick Rose
SG- Kyle Korver
SF- Luol Deng
PF- Carlos Boozer
C- Joakim Noah

BN- CJ Watson
BN- Taj Gibson
BN- Ronnie Brewer
BN- James Johnson
BN- Omer Asik

In the West, that would be a pretty average team. In the East, that lineup is scary.

I think Thibodeau will be a good coach in Chicago because he has players that can play defense (Rose, Deng, Noah, Brewer, Gibson).

And according to Rose, He has developed a “consistent 3 pointer” for himself over the offseason. Just like Tyreke, that now makes him pretty difficult to stop.

I heartily agree nd also wonder how TT will do as a head coach, though its probably an upgrade.

But I still put the Bucks at 5th or 6th behind the Celts, Heat, Orlando, Chicago and Atlanta.

Really? I think Thibodeau was made to coach an athletic defensive minded team like the Bulls.

They’ve got a starting 5 of Rose, Brewer, Deng, Boozer and Noah (other than maybe Boozer, all super-athletic guys who can play defense), and some quality backups in Korver and Gibson. The only problem is that their starting 5 has no shooting in it.

My rankings for the East playoff teams are:

1. Heat (that team is a legitimate contender)
2. Magic (this team is also a legitimate contender)
3. Celtics (this team is too resilient even with age)
4. Bucks (Another year of growth and more depth to an already scrappy team)
5. Bulls (Lost some depth but gained talent and a better coach in my opinion)
6. Hawks (Wild card to go from 4-6 in my opinion. 2nd round team at best)
7. Bobcats (Good enough defensively to get back into the playoffs)
8. Knicks or Pacers

He's a career 24.2% 3 point shooter

and he’s attempted and made less 3s in two years than Tyreke did in one (I don’t know if thats a good thing though, because its not like Tyreke was that much better at shooting the 3 at 25.5%)

How about a tweet from a reporter at Team USA training camp?
“@Mark_Travis Derrick Rose was the best three-point shooter and shootaround today. Not a great sign”

Yes, I noticed the thing at the end that said not a great sign. But still, you have Durant, Curry, Billups, Granger, a lot of good shooters there.

This is what Rose said

“It’s there; I have a consistent 3-point shot now,” Rose said Wednesday night. “You’ll see. I just have so much confidence in my jump shot now. It’s coming along so good. It’s past even my expectations at this point.”

It’s not like Rose is one to boast or anything, hes a pretty quiet guy. So when I hear that his 3 pointer is beyond his expectations, I start to listen.

Thibodeau

Boston had absolutely no interest in making him a head coach. None. Even when it looked like Rivers might not return. Thibodeau was never a serious coaching candidate until William Wesley became his agent. I think Chicago hired him thinking it would help them land LeBron.

by AnotherStupidSN on Jul 21, 2010 2:33 PM PDT up reply actions

Apparently it is "toe"

To “tow the company line” seems logical to describe when someone pulls their own weight for the company or something like that but apparently it’s wrong:

Toe the line – it’s often written as "tow the line", but this is incorrect. It is easy to understand where the confusion came from, particularly when the phrase is combined with an entity, as in "toe the company line" or "toe the party line". It is easy to visualize a poor wretch toiling with the company rope over his shoulder.

The phrase is clearly "toe", however, and the origin is straightforward. It refers to stepping up and putting your toe on a starting line. It’s related to another phrase, "up to scratch", discussed below.

"Toe the line" has become corrupted from its original meaning. Now, when you hear of someone "toeing the line", you tend to think of someone brought to heel (see here for an example), of someone staying within prescribed behaviour, rather than the original meaning of someone stepping up to a challenge. This original sense is still maintained in the phrase "toe the mark", a more British saying, which retains the feeling of someone preparing for a contest (at least to my ear, it does.)
