F#ck Kobe Bryant.
F#ck Shaquille O’Neal
F#ck Phil Jackson
F#ck Rick Fox (twice)
F#ck Sasha Vujacic
F#ck Robert Horry
F#ck Derek Fisher
F#ck Dick Bavetta, Bob Delaney and Ted Bernhardt – I’m still waiting for them to have their jerseys retired at Staples.

Still waiting for the Euler of basketball to play for the Kings
Pooh Jeter is technically a Rookie at age 26.
Having only played internationally and one year in the NBDL.
Author of the Pick and Scroll. Follow me on Twitter here.
Wow, we're playoff bound now.
Never seen Jeter’s game. I hope he’s decent. At the very least, I hope he’s the speedy change-up point guard I was wishing for.
We had Pooh on our VSL team
a year or two ago. I remember he played pretty well. Certainly better than any of our PGs this year. Basically a more experienced version of the Sloan/Rice pu pu platter we nearly invited to camp.
Jeter did perform quite well in the Summer League
14.4 PPG on 48.2% shooting (although only 25% from 3), 2.0 RPG, 1.0 SPG, 5.4 APG, to only 2.4 TO.
Looks better than Donald Sloan anyway.
With these signings the Kings roster looks like this:
PG: Tyreke Evans, Pooh Jeter
SG: Beno Udrih, Francisco Garcia, Antoine Wright
SF: Donté Greene, Omri Casspi
PF: Carl Landry, Jason Thompson, Hassan Whiteside, Darnell Jackson
C: Samuel Dalembert, DeMarcus Cousins
That is the minimum 13 players needed. I would not be surprised to see the Kings opt for one more player as insurance, perhaps Ryan Thompson. It also looks like they might keep Darnell Jackson instead of waiving him as I once thought.
Author of the Pick and Scroll. Follow me on Twitter here.
Jeter quietly made a nice impact in SL.
I had read that he looked like an NBA player- the improvement over last year was very apparent. He is undersized but at this point, he looks like a lot better option than Sloan.
On the Darnell Jackson front- Petrie made the exact statements last year about Hilton Armstrong. Jackson has very little chance of sticking IMO. The Kings are better served with a young player like Thompson, even if that player spends some time inactive or in Reno.
The world is not your Trade Machine.

I like the idea of Jeter backing up at the point.
It’s a natural fit for him, he seems like a solid distributor who can still score when the opportunity arises.
This is the best Pooh this organization has taken in years.

I dunno why I am explaining it.
Your Very first Statement was very funny, it was clever… the way you hinted the word Pooh, was the player in this FanPost, but also describes our roster of which only won 17 games.
So, Therefore my response was in recognition of said Tact. That is all…however, if you really did think that he was on our team a few years ago… then it was Funny nontheless.

“Jeter is settling in nicely into a feature role with Hapoel Jerusalem after starting off the season coming off the bench for Euroleague team Unicaja Malaga. We may be a bit biased in this case, but in our mind there is no reason not to think that he’s right on the cusp of the NBA with his terrific quickness and creativity. He proved as much by being one of the best point guards in summer league playing for Portland. His improved perimeter shooting ability is a major plus, as are his strong intangibles, and his size may not be as much of an issue these days considering the success that many sub-six-foot point guards are having in the NBA right now.” – Jonathan Givony
That's the one thing I recall vividly, his speed.

Couple of things
First off, he is a “true point guard”. Second, His given name is Eugene Jeter III. Here is a self written post he has on DraftExpress. He writes well and seems charming and animated with his writings. Lastly, his last name is pronounced Jet-er not Jete-r like Yankee Derek. I am trying to find out how he got the nickname Pooh.

With this deal being in the books, does this mean they've reached the 3 million minumum the organization needed to spend?
I remember from a Ziller post (I think) that they were beneath the minimum by 3 million. Can anyone clarify this?
Ba-da
It must be very close to reach it.
Wright last year contract was 2,110,550$, Jeter will probably get minimum (around 0.5 million, he is technically rookie), so if Wright’s contract will remain on the same level as previous that will pretty much do it.
Team salary is calculated at the end of the season
the only limitation going into the season is that you can only have less than 13 players on your roster for a max of 2 weeks. So I believe we have 13 if you count Sloan, Jeter, Wright and Jackson.

No he won't be able to "command" as much...
but he will demand (and receive) way more than he is worth. This will likely be followed by an injury that will keep him off the floor.
"The Kings have nothing to lose but their games."
Would it hurt the Kings
to spend SOME money this offseason on a player or two with NBA experience? Before these signings, the Kings were $17 million under the $58.044 mil cap (according to Hoopsworld today). Kings are the furthest team under the cap. Come on Petrie, surprise us!
I understand that
I’m not asking them to overpay someone or go after a max player. But it wouldn’t have put them in a financial bind to go after someone like Farmar or Ridnour. This team needs more experienced players. Obviously Petrie didn’t see anyone he loved. I’m still hoping he has something up his sleeve
Guh, Farmar & Ridnour
I’d rather go the route we’re going and be sitting pretty in 12 months than overpay for those average-at-best talents.
We aren’t making the playoffs this season. We’re going to improve, and get Cousins’ legs under him, while Evans grows his game. Everything else is secondary.

A man who understands the plan. ^
You don’t have to agree with the plan but I agree with andy sims, this is the direction the Kings have decide to go, and very clearly.
If the opportunity for another acquisition, a lä Eric Maynor to OKC comes around the Kings are in position to accept it, providing they leave room on their roster. The time from the start of the season to the trading deadline may present some good discount deals and the Kings will be in postion to accept a variety of offers for the most part or participate be a part of a deal to make it work like they did with Larry Hughes (aka Tyreke’s ceiling).
The position of just clearing the minimum salary bar makes it possible for a max type player to join the squad. May not happen, probably won’t happen, but at least it could happen.

"I know we certainly gave up a lot to get him, but we do have other players on the perimeter who we can plug in. We haven’t had anybody who we feel is a go-to guy in the post. So we gave up a lot to get a lot, and we’re real excited about adding Carl." - Paul Westphal
I honestly doubt they resign Dalembert.
Particularly after the payday that Haywood just received.

He'll get about the same money as Haywood, too
unless he really sucks for us.

That'll be a $50k fine
I can’t believe Kahn and the Wolves got fined for that comment
Well
its believable in today’s tight-ass Stern driven NBA. Fines handed out left and right like flys on pooh.
ailene voisin is wack!
It is a personnel matter, not just the NBA that keeps personnel matters private.
If you want to be your best, you have to do your best, otherwise you are only second rate.
I think Stern
basically wants Kahn to simply shut the fuck up about everything. Kahn suffers from foot in the mouth disease
Yeah
Makes you wonder how he got his job. He obviously isn’t very good at evaluating talent. Darko, Love, and Beasley is probably going to be twice as bad as what they had last year at those spots.
ailene voisin is wack!
Simple
It violates league policy regarding controlled substances. Check out TZ at Fanhouse for all the details.
Never forget: I am a complete idiot
Obviously marijuana violates the policy
However, I was referring to the fact that Kahn even talking about a player’s use is a violation of the rules.
Never forget: I am a complete idiot
I'm not sure they can limit a players use of weed if he has a prescription.
I might be wrong but I know MLB allows players with ADD to use banned but legal substances. I’m pretty sure the NBA has some rules built in for it with all the chronic back and joint pain.
The world is not your Trade Machine.

I Liked him a lot in the two summer league games I saw him play in
He fulfills one of my list of team needs, and excellent change of pace PG off the bench.
A signing we’ll grow to like a lot I think.

I had him as one of my top 3 PG's FA's
In the Best Shooter of Summer League thread, I posted this
A couple of guys that might be worth bring back. Pooh Jeter who was on the Kings SL team in 2006 & 2007. With very good PG skills and shot 41% from three in the EuroCup, while playing in Isreal last season. He’s 5-11 and 26years old, but could be that quick defender that plays situational minutes against the quick PG’s that give Beno trouble.
I also like having an experienced player at the 3rd PG rather than some undrafted rookie. He’s going to come out and do his job and not try and make a name for himself at the expense of the offense.

Could this be all she wrote for the Kings' offseason?
PG: Beno/Jeter
SG: Tyreke/Garcia/Wright
SF: Greene/Casspi
PF: Landry/Thompson/Whiteside/Jackson
C: Dalembert/DMC
That’s your 13 players, 14 if Sloan makes the team (which I’m doubting).
Why???
Does everyone think that Landry is starting at PF w/ Cousins behind Samy? I think the starters by mid-season will be Samy and Cousins. And I also think that Garcia may start with Tyreke. I can really see Thompson and Landry coming off the bench together on the second unit.

Ummmm
Possibly because Cousins is not a power forward?
Or some other nit-picky detail of a similar ilk.

PW isn't likely to make wholesale shift changes like in Hockey
and because of all the games we lost in the 4th quarter last season, I can see Westphal playing Cousins and Dalembert in the last 6 minutes of close games to control the boards. Letting the shooters shot and having the two big centers clean up the glass and score on the offensive rebounds.
So, unless DMC can make a leap in his conditioning, I’d expect him to backup SD at center for maybe 12 minutes per half. I expect situational rotations for the PF’s. And, I expect to see a little less iso as part of the offensive scheme.

Sloan is toast
He blew his shot in Summer League.
"I know we certainly gave up a lot to get him, but we do have other players on the perimeter who we can plug in. We haven’t had anybody who we feel is a go-to guy in the post. So we gave up a lot to get a lot, and we’re real excited about adding Carl." - Paul Westphal
They liked him before enough to give him a contract, guaranteed or not
and if they waive Jackson, they’ll need someone to fill the 13th roster spot. Sloan is already getting the league min, so why drop him and try to find someone else who’ll sit on the bench for min money. Besides Sloan is a combo guard like Beno, so it gives PW some additional flexibility in his lineups.

I hope he will be good
And that fans will love him, so he will stay here for several years. Just imagine all this crazy Disneyana that will go on here! It will outperform all the Brockness festival by light years!
My Pooh scents:
After someone blocks his shot: “Oh! He stuffed Pooh so hard. Pooh is blocked. That guy’s mentality was that he was simply not going to allow Pooh in his house.”
On not starting: “Pooh will be backing up for awhile.”
After an altercation: “This ridiculous! That guy literally picked up and then flung Pooh!”
After an injury: “You could definitely heard a loud thud when Pooh hit the floor.”
When he is getting subbed out: “And Pooh has to come out…right now.”
If he gets dunked on: “He threw it down on Pooh with authority!”
If someone is unsure of who scored: “When it looks like Pooh, it must be Pooh.”
If he loses by a large margin: “Well, I hate to say it, but Pooh has been blown out.”
While playing good D and being active: “Pooh seems to be everywhere!”
When he is being out-played: “That guy is eating Pooh up.”

When he’s not: “The rim is not being kind to Pooh.”
After a mad shot: “Pooh drops an easy deuce.”
If he mistakenly wears another player’s uniform: “Uh, coach. Pooh is in my shorts…and my socks and shoes.”
