Why not Shannon Brown??
This last week we picked up two guards to add depth to our roster. I usually don't protest against our beloved Geoff Petrie, but for this case I have to. Since I haven't seen much of Antoine or Pooh's play I can't really comment on the acquisitions, but what I can comment on is the neglect of Shannon Brown.
We all know Shannon Brown has been sleeping with the enemy. It disgusts me as much as anyone else. Playing for the Los Angeles Stern's err Lakers Shannon Brown earned two consecutive rings. After earning his last ring Brown decided to opt out of his contract leaving him a Free Agent for all 30 teams to fight over. Reports have circulated on why Shannon Brown opted out of his contract. The most popular one was to pull off a Paul Pierce method of a re-signandgetmoremoneyinreturn method. That didn't work out too well since the *ahem* Flakers signed Steve Blake, Matt Barnes, and Theo Ratliff. Following these turn of events Shannon Brown was and still is left in a situation where he is now considering teams other then the Lakers. Now....this is where we come in. We have a group of future stellar with exception to one in Tyreke Evans who is ALREADY STELLAR, and since we have more big men then an offensive line we need to invest in some stellar guards that know how to work with skilled big men. The Lakers are known for their skilled big men and over here in Sacramento we're developing an impressive line-up of big men as well. We need players that know how to work with each other and Shannon Brown is the perfect model for our type of system. He is not a great shooter but we have that in Cisco and Greene. Beno is not bad at driving to the hole, but he's more of a spot up mid-range shooter. Like Tyreke Shannon Brown is a clear the lane type of guy and we can crush the opposition with this skill. I don't know how Shannon Brown feels about us nor do I know how Geoff and the Kings personnel feel about Brown, but Shannon Brown has expressed that he wants more money and a bigger role on the team.
To conclude. If the Sacramento Kings pick up Shannon Brown then we will have something sexy cooking in the pot for years to come. LAAATEEEE!!!

Because Shannon Brown is overrated
He’s good at dunking, and since he plays on the Lakers he gets a lot of national exposure. Had you heard of Brown when he was on the Cavs or Bobcats?
Career 42.1% shooter, career 2.4 Assists to 2.0 turnovers, a highlight dunk a game. Not worth it.

No he wouldn't.
He’s a no-name journeyman who happened to play for the L*kers. Not a huge draw there, Sparky.

We may as well go after Joe Alexander, too.

he'd be an exciting reserve for the Kings this season
But I think there is a reason the Kings went for Wright and why you haven’t heard Brown’s name come up in rumors with really any other team. For him it’s not really worth it to leave LA for (maybe) a couple hundred thousand dollars just to be the 8th or 9th man when he can stay for basically the same money to be the 10-12th man with the current favorite to win the conference. I think he’s just sitting back, waiting for LA’s offer to pop out of his agents fax machine.

He would want too much money
and probably more than a one year deal. GP seems to be making this year a filler year, not the year to make moves to get a competitive team… hence the 1 year deals to scrap players. They want to see what happens next year, then make their moves. For this year it is purely for our core to gel, and to get some experience before making a big move.

This is the NBA not the National Dunk Association
There is a reason the guy has been on 4 teams in 4 yrs. For all his hops his career average is 1 rebound every 10 minutes and 1 assist every 15 minutes. At 6-4 he’s not even a tweener, because he has no PG skills and he can’t shoot.

who knows
we did sign desmond mason last year. great dunker, thats about it
What's wrong with Gerald Green?
- Knocks down the 3
- Top 10 athlete in the NBA
- True 2-Guard at 6-8"
- Would accept a one year deal
We brought in Pooh Jeter & Antoine Wright, so why not Gerald Green? We’d have nothing to lose if we brought him in, & would look like geniuses if he avg over 10ppg again.
KINGS WILL BE 10-11 CHAMPIONS
"Knocks down the 3"
His career percentage is under 36%. That means that Garcia, Greene, Udrih and Casspi were all more effective from 3 point range than Green has been over his career. I just don’t see how he helps this team.
Shannon Brown, by the way, shoots about 33% from beyond the arc. Again, I do not see how he is an improvement over the current core rotation.

He's way the hell under 36%
Udrih 3pt% career: 35.8% 09-10: 37.7%
Greene: career: 33.6% 09-10: 37.7%
Casspi: career/09-10 37%
Garcia: career: 37% 09-10: 39%
Brown: career: 32.7% 09-10: 32.8%
Nocioni & Sergio shot 38.6% and 35.7% respectively, and one of them was vilified, and the other one would have most of you swearing in court that he couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat.
In Brown’s defense, he shoots from three a hell of a lot better than the ROY at 25.5%. I still like Evans’ upside over Brown’s, even if his highlight reel is mostly defensive gems and layups.

Um, Simsy
I was talking about Gerald Green at under 36%. You’ll note that I mentioned Brown being at about 33%.

Ah, very good.
Green, Brown…whatever. I don’t see color or nationality. People tell me I’m American, and I believe them because I don’t have a job.

Oh, shit no.
And I want to emphasize that fact to potential employers. You can infer that I will actually show up for work on Mondays and Fridays.

I really would have like Tony Allen
Though he would cost a bit more and want a couple years instead of just one. He is a very good defender, I just am not too sure about his offense. He just could be a very good 2 guard next to Reke is all I felt.
Because Brown is a terrible decision-maker, he is turnover prone and dis appeared for the majority of the playoffs
For every sunset, there will always be a sunrise.
i wonder how players feel
about playing for a successful team that always plays more than 82 games a year and then playing for a team that doesnt make the playoffs at all?
Probably a lot like trolls feel when they're still commenting after a thread has run its course.

I say...
We let the Lakers and there fans stick to their current course and horrible idea of overpaying Shannon Brown to be there 3rd String PG
