Trip to SacTown
Hey everyone,
So a few weeks back I made my trip to California (and Sacramento) under the advice of all my fellow STR's. While I was in the Bay Area I caught a Giants/Mets game where LIncecum was pitches, and enjoyed San Francisco. I also went to Los Angeles to see a Dodger game and to San Diego. But anyways, most of the recommendations from you guys helped me in enjoying my stay in Sacramento. I did the following:
- Ate a Squeeze Inn burger (cheese skirt was alright, if any of you ever come to visit Toronto, you MUST try a Lick's Burger)
- Saw Arco (really nice guy named Michael let us take a complete tour of the place because we came all the way from Toronto. I saw the Press Room, the Locker Room, the stands (took a picture of the Webber/Divac/Richmond banner, chea)
- Did not visit the Railroad Museum
- Did a bit of shopping
Overall, since it was a day trip I didn't actually get to see a whole lot but I really enjoyed the small city vibe. I also bought a 'REKE DMC shirt which I wear around a lot in Toronto and people have no idea what it represents. I also bought a Brockness Monster shirt and a few days later he is traded (bummer!). All in all, I would definitely come back to visit Sacramento and I may come to a Kings game next season.
Thanks for all the help and suggestions!
JuMowbray
(btw, vfettke, I didn't drown myself - one suggestion I didn't consider haha)

Cool... Now only if NBA Free Agents Felt this way.
Statistics are like a girl in a bikini. They show a lot, but not everything.
If you happened to meet me while you were here
I apologize
There are some guys smarter than me, some guys better looking, I take comfort in the fact that there is no guy that is both.

Your logic is flawed thanks for visiting…jk
F#ck Kobe Bryant.
F#ck Shaquille O’Neal
F#ck Phil Jackson
F#ck Rick Fox (twice)
F#ck Sasha Vujacic
F#ck Robert Horry
F#ck Derek Fisher
F#ck Dick Bavetta, Bob Delaney and Ted Bernhardt – I’m still waiting for them to have their jerseys retired at Staples.
F#ck Every Laker fan who comes to Arco Arena, wears his hat sideways and stands up and cheers with his arms out and his back to the floor whenever Kobe scores a basket.
Oh, and F#ck Jack Nicholson, Dyan Cannon, and that silver haired douchebag wearing the snakeskin boots.
Who’d I miss?

You should have checked out Old Sac
It’s pretty cool there. Everytime I go to Sac I got to stop by there.

It sounded from the post
that people told them not to visit Old Sac. I don’t understand why, there is a lot more to it than just the railroad museum. People in Sac are too self loathing about the city. The more I travel, the more I am happy I live in Sacramento, I guess other Sacramentans don’t feel the same.

Old Sac has some interesting attractions
Although I circumvent two of them by getting my taffy and parking tickets via the internet.
Rocks are free, and slingshots easily stolen. And for a limited time, every third person who follows me on Twitter (andy_sims) gets a free ice cream cone.
Which I will eat.

I love Sac
i grew up in Midtown & Rosemont and spent a lot of time there. The city is beautiful (especially the oldest parts) but it’s not a tourist trap. I find tourist traps so I find Sac fascinating, but most tourists like to see stupid shit. Sacramento is just a place that got bigger as multiple industries warranted it. Since I’ve been a grownup, I’ve never figured out why Sacramentans are so insecure. I think it’s the need for acceptance, but I’ve always thought that was bullshit.
Then again, where the Italian restaurant, and Sushi place, on 16th between P & O used to be a vacant lot (on the north side of the alley) where the Fremont is now. I used to play stickball there as a kid. So, yeah.

Fucking Word. When I was growing up here I thought it was lame because there isn’t much to do for the under 21 crowd… Having since traveled 2/3rds of the modernized world and seeing the jewels of society… Sac stacks up fairly nicely without being over-developed for what we can support and kitschy.
All we need is the A’s to replace the Rivercats.

That'd be awesome
They already wanna move to Fremont or San Jose. Why not Sacramento?

Plus Raley Field is considered one of the top fields in the minor leagues
it would only take a little bit to add some seats, and it’s instantly better than the cement hole they play in now. And the spot they play in would make Sac look awesome when they see it on national TV. I think that is one of the best views of the city
