Woj confirms this

Carlos Boozer has agreed to a 5 year, $80 million deal with the Bulls, a league source tells Y!

Woj’s Twitter

"I have missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot...and missed. And I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why... I succeed." Michael Jordan.

Will Boozer be a good fit alongside Noah?

I dont know about that but him and Rose will be a 1-2 punch to follow during the season.

I think Boozer fits well.

Noah is more of a defensive center and Boozer is an offensive PF. I don’t see them getting in each others way.

Good luck, Carlos!

That's the word at Blog-a-Bull

This signing leaves just enough cap space to get LeBron a max deal.

"Matt Cain's better at this than I've ever been at anything in my life. He's better at this than you'll ever be, at anything. Matt Cain has a gift. He has a gift, and when you acknowledge that, then maybe we will have something to talk about."

By "word", I mean "extreme optimism"

I think

the Bulls are now the place for LeBron to go. better roster, max money, endorsements …. I think it’s perfect for him to go now.

Does Lebron even like Boozer? He previously bolted from Cleveland.

Pretty sure that's all water under the bridge at this point

do you think he really cares?

I like the signing for them.

They got a legitimate post player to pair up with Rose. The core of:

Rose-Deng-Boozer-Noah is an excellent one to build around. No doubt this team can make some noise in the East. (assuming everything goes right)

Well to be fair, it isn't a "signing" actually.

The Bulls can’t officially sign anyone until the 8th this means that are relying on Boozer’s word.

A verbal commitment. Will it stand? (I’m 99% sure it will stand fwiw)

I can just see it now, another team swoops in with a $80,000,005 deal and Boozer jumps ship.

Quick Question:

If the Bulls kept Deng and signed LeBron to a max deal what would their salary situation look like?

"I have missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot...and missed. And I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why... I succeed." Michael Jordan.

they would be paying out a lot of money in the long run, I know that much

But given they have one of the most loyal fan bases in the world I think they will be financially okay.

Looks like now that

Wade and Bosh are off the market things are gonna start picking up. I think this is a solid move for the Bulls. This also makes them more attractive to other free agents. And by “other” I mean LeBron. That would be a solid Line-up.

Rose
Free agent 2/Deng ( i know he’s a SF but LeBron would play there).
’Bron
Boozer
Noah

Using the calculator on DraftExpress.com

(And assuming the initial report of $80 million still stands), here is the numbers of Boozer’s contract:

Using draft express calculator:

1 YEAR $13,793,103 $13,793,103
2 YEAR $14,896,552 $28,689,655
3 YEAR $16,000,000 $44,689,655
4 YEAR $17,103,448 $61,793,103
5 YEAR $18,206,897 $80,000,000

http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-contract-calculator?tsalary=80000000&years=5#ixzz0t24ZxlW0

The Bulls can still sign another MAX player or sign a boatload of quality role players.

Either way, they will be in contention in the East next year.

I don't know how the Bulls would be able to sign Rose

if Lebron signed, especially since Reinsdorf doesn’t exactly love the tax.

Yes this is overpaying for Boozer

But Chicago now has a very excellent core. Boozer gives them the Post presence they need, and he is paired up with the defensive monster that he’s needed in Noah, and a budding star point guard in Rose. Add Deng in there, a very solid SF in his own right, plenty more cap space for flexibility, solid sophomore in Taj Gibson and they’re a couple pieces away from being contenders in the East.

I wouldn't say this is overpaying for Boozer IMO.

At current market value, it is a fair contract. The only thing that can severely suppress that is:

1) Injury
2) Age (declining)

The first couple of years of the contract would be ok but the last remaining years (4/5 years)? I don’t know. Probably by then, the relative success brought with Boozer to the Bulls may compensate the potential negative net effect overall.

I mean, right now, Boozer is still one of the best PFs in the L. He is an all star talented player. Considering the state of the Bulls, the premise of acquiring Boozer is not all that bad. Not at all.

Yes, "overpaying" is probably a bad word

I do love the idea that the owners are going to be begging to be protected from themselves though.

5/75 isn't too bad

Especially considering what we’ve seen so far. The first 3 years should probably be about appropriate, the last two likely won’t be.

Warriors and David Lee?

Contra costa times reports Warriors looking to sign-and -trade for Lee using Anthony Randolph, Turiaf, and others for D. Lee. WTF?

by longtimelistenerfirsttimecaller on Jul 7, 2010 4:49 PM PDT reply actions

Whats so weird about that?

Lee would be great in Golden State. Doesn’t play defense, but he’ll actually rebound the ball, and he’d fit well with Curry.

isnt' that beidrins?

overpaying two rebounding, non-defense playing white guys? at least Lee can make a free throw. If they moved Andres, then maybe i get it. I thougth Randolph was the future with Steph… not so much anymore… I guess my point is that there doesn’t seem to be a plan for GS and with ownership in limbo, its a curious move IMO>

Andris Biedrins wishes he was David Lee

Biedrins is actually a decent shot blocker, but he can’t score or pass like Lee.

I was under the impression that Biedrins was actually an okay passer

Compared to Lee

"I have missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot...and missed. And I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why... I succeed." Michael Jordan.

David Lee is actually a very good passing big man

His 3.6 assists per game last year was best amongst centers, and 3rd amongst power forwards, behind only Boris Diaw and Josh Smith.

Biedrins averaged 1.7 assists per game, a career high for him.

Yeah thats why

Biedrins isnt a good passer when compared to Lee’s passing abilities

I just meant in general, not compared to Lee

I was just saying he isn’t necessarily a bad passer is all.
