Kings Media Day: Videos
The videos I shot from yesterday have finally finished uploading to YouTube, so after the jump I'll put video of J.R. Giddens, Donald Sloan, Antoine Wright, Hassan Whiteside, Donté Greene, Jason Thompson, Carl Landry and Geoff Petrie. Sorry for the sometime shaky camera, its hard to keep the flip cam steady when you're jockeying for position. Still the quality is better than I expected.
Nicholson and Wise kept stealing the guys for private interviews with "Facebook" and "Twitter" in the back room, and as such they got some truly great stuff. To try to keep the fanshots cleaner, I'll be embedding all the Kingsflix interviews as well.
My videos
Kingsflix videos
If Kingsflix uploads any more videos I'll embed them here
Enjoy.

Dalemberts nickname - The Haitian Sensation!
I love it!
If I was in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, and Robert Horry and I had a gun with two bullets...I'd shoot Robert Horry twice

He's also only played 247 minutes over 3 years
He was decent (not great) in college at .350 for his career.

Some really good stuff in the Kingsflix videos
Looks like Cisco and Carl are going to be the team captains according to Omri. Makes a good amount of sense.
And I bust out in a big smile when Hassan said this team could go all the way. It’s so unlikely but you just have to love the optimism and high expectations these guys have for themselves so far.

At work
Youtube is blocked at my work, so embedded videos show up as blank space. As such, Aykis, I feel compelled to tell you that this appears to be the laziest post you’ve evr done. I’ll check at home tonight to confirm that this post has “actual content”, but until then I stand by my criticism.
Cue the observations about me complaining about a lack of content and the irony therein.
When discussing two opposing point of views, the truth often lies somewhere in the middle.
Here are some pics from the event.

Thompson all “Vicked out”.

Geoff Petrie “Ahhh, not this shit again”.

“How am I supposed to stay calm when even the shadow around me are angry”

Joe Crawford and Donald Sloan, “ID Please”
I have more but there is a start.

Isn't he the hype guy from the games?

Ha I think he is, now that you mention it.
Great expression in that picture though.

First time I've seen Hassan speak
I’m impressed. Straightforward and concise. I look forward to seeing post-playoff-game interviews on TNT.

I think he has had speech lessons or something
Because before the draft and at summer league he exuded panic to be in front of a camera, and every other word was “um”. I noticed how good his interviews went this time too just for these reasons. I also enjoyed how candid he was.
Umm... I thought we were officially referring to Voison as the Chick Replacing Amick at the Paper? or CRAP, for short.

No Luther Head interview
I was interested in hearing his take
I'm so fucking excited for this season.
Chemistry seems just awesome, and every piece we have 1-12 seems like a useful player.
When I saw JT, Samuel L was the first person I saw.

It's been said before, but I feel it needs to be addressed again in light of the pictures here...
Maybe it’s the extra weight, maybe it’s the monochromatic apparel featuring the crew-neck with the blazer, but I swear Petrie is looking more and more like an NHL exec.

Is it possible to win both the 6th man and RoY?
Probably not?

Don't know if it is possible, but
Mike Miller is the only one to win both in the last 20 years, although he won them in separate years. He was ROY in 2000/01 and won the 6th Man in 05/06. It seems then most if not all the ROY’s were starters in their rookie season.

Couldn't you see DMC,
this year at least, being our new Carl Landry playing big minutes off the bench? And with his prodigious production rates, still in the running for RoY as a non-starter?

I see Cousins coming in off the bench for Dalembert,
and probably before JT comes in for Landry or visa versa should JT really up his game.
I don’t know if MVP, ROY or 6th man ballets are all submitted at the same time. I suppose if you had to vote all three prior to the winners being announced, there’s a outside chance someone could get enough votes to win both. But, I’m guessing that if Wall starts all 82 games and Cousins comes off the bench for all 82 games, Wall wins ROY.

Allow me to drop some knowledge on this subject....
Ben Gordon, in 2004-05 was generally considered the best rookie. But he won 6th man of the year. And since he wasn’t considered good enough for both, they gave ROY to Emeka Okafor, who was considered the second best rookie at the time (of course everyone forgot about a little-known big man from Atlanta that Orlando had drafted first overall that year).
Respectfully disagree regarding Gordon
Both Okafor and Gordon averaged 15.1 points a game (Gordon on 41% shooting, Okafor 45%), but Okafor added double digit boards and nearly 2 blocks a game. I think that had you given every GM the choice between Gordon and Okafor at the end of the 2004-05 season, the majority would have opted for Okafor. In my opinion, Okafor was the best rookie, and deserving of rookie of the year. The fact that Okafor started all 73 games that he played in, while Gordon started 3 explains why Gordon was considered for 6th man and Okafor was not.
