2010 -11 Kings TV coverage?

Is it the same deal as last year?  I see there is no tv listing for the preseason opener this Tuesday.  Comcast ch34 has boxing for that timeslot but that could change.

This is not a fanpost

but perhaps NBA TV will pick up some of our preseason, particularly the Lakers in Vegas, I don’t believe they have any preseason games announced at the moment.

I think the Heat's opener is on NBATV

but not sure if you were referring to any Kings/redacted NBATV announcements.

Thanks

If comcast does not pick up the Kings this year then for sure I’m canceling their cable TV service. I have no other reason to keep it.

I believe that to be true as well

Just like last season.

None of the teams the Kings play in preseason are televising their games except the Lakers

not just the away games but the home games as well. The Lakers game is in Las Vegas, so that should be available on the internet.

I doubt if the Kings will have the same draw as Miami in preseason, so I wouldn’t expect NBAtv to pick up the cost to produce and broadcast any of their games. 3 of the first 4 games are at home and the 4th is at Golden State, so fans have an opportunity to see 5 of the 7 games without it being televised. But, I personally feel that the first couple of games will spotlight the new invitees rather than the stars.

Are you referring to the Laker's game?

I was referring to the fact the Lakers tv is broadcasting the game in LA, so it’s going to be available on the internet. But, anything is possible, especially as more and more people get interested in the Kings 2 number 1 picks. The Lakers game is the 5th game so the Kings could generate some excitement with wins in the first 4 games.

If I’m not mistaken, even though they didn’t televise the games last year, they did show highlights both on Kings.com and on NBA.com game stats. So, they did have camera crews there.

Yes I was

As NBAtv doesn’t have that much content right now and the [redacted] broadcast is available, they might still pick it up. It’s the last preseason game (I think) the young Kings and the Champion [redacted].

So there’s a chance.

I’ll be at the tuesday game against PHX and though I expect it to be sloppy I’ll give a report. Anyone else going?

I'm looking for some real pick and roll basketball

which I hear they’ve been working on, spacing in the paint (and the rest of the floor) and especially some protecting of our basket. Half court execution on both ends is what I believe pays the most dividends in playoff basketball. I’m afraid I won’t be as technically accurate as you could be.

Curious. Do you have some coaching / playing experience or are you just a good student of the game?

Very little, learned everything from my dad.

He played on several championship teams. And, grew up playing with Ray Meyer from DePaul fame, and was friends with Gene Sullivan who coached at Loyola. Sullivan isn’t as well know but he went to Notre Dame and coached there too. He was expecting to get the Head Coaching job at Notre Dame, but they went with Digger Phelps instead. So, he left to become athletic director at DePaul, and left there to become athletic director and coach at Loyola University. Both Meyer and Sullivan took their teams to the Sweet Sixteen, and Meyer reached the Final Four twice.

I helped my dad coach my much younger brother (18yrs younger) who went on to start four years at Xavier. I try to keep up with the new trends in the NBA, but my old school roots ‘keep pulling me back in’.

Ray Meyer is a legend. Especially in Chicago.

Yes, having coached from 1942-1985 for the Blue Demons

Their NCAA run in 1979 was stirring – they lost in the Final Four semis to the Sycamores of ISU and a guy named Larry Bird. In the ‘79 Finals Bird v. Magic part one began with East Lansing’s Spartans coached by Judd Heathcote.

Ray Meyer is in the HoF and his retirement was well publicized with the reigns being handed over to his son Joey. Loyola – DePaul is a huge rivalry, surprised your Dad was friendly with both sides.

Anyway – belatedly – thanks for sharing a bit about yourself HT.

As I said after leaving Notre Dame, Sullivan went to DePaul

I think there were a few years inbetween and during that time he was in the Limousine business which my dad was in at the same time. So, I think they became friends at that time.

It was after he left DePaul and went to Loyola, that he scouted my brother.
